What are some good songs by them ?
NP Iced Earth - Burning Times
I think my favourite is called "Soldiers of the Wasteland". I'm not sure though..my actual mp3 of it is untitled. |
at middle school, i was 3 years ahead of the other kids in my reading age :p
I had a Junior College reading level since about age 7-8. Once I learned to read (which I had to learn to do on my own) I had to read everything. Newspapers, magazines, cereal boxes. Whatever I could get my hands on. Kind of explains some of my nerdiness. :D I too also got yelled at countless times (even in High School) for reading ahead or not listening to the teacher because I had my nose stuck in stephen kings the stand for the millionth time. |
Do any of you guys play Halo 2 on Xbox live. I just got it and want to play with some R&Mers.
Anyone play Socom 3 on PS2?
I'll play Halo with you if you want. What's your gamertag? |

I dont get yelled at for reading ahead, but I hate reading along with the class.
My english teacher gives me detentions because I tap my feet and my fingers. NP IE - Watching Over Me And Thanks Bartender, Ill check it out. |
I do the exact same thing! My teachers get mad, but I certainly don't get detentions for it.
Not only my teachers get anoyed though, I was listening to my cd player in class once, and my friend got anoyed of my feet. Shes the only one who gives me detentions for it. |

The thing I did when I was in H.S. was listen to my cd player in class. Apparently my German teacher wasn't very happy about me blasting Rammstein's Buck Dich in class. |
whats that mean?
Big Dick?? |
whats that mean?
Big Dick??
No, Bend Down (in a sexual manner) The lyrics go something along the lines of Bend Down your face means nothing to me Bend down so that I may have my way with you. |

Ok, I want to know for sure. What does Du Hast mean?? I've heard it' "you hate", "you kill", "you rape". Does anyone speak German?
|
I was air double bass drumming along to a song in Chem once...turns out I pissed off everyone around me, I was doing it so loud.
My teachers are really laid back though, which is a good thing. Toaster, my friend said it means "I want". He basically said the song went like, "I. I want. I want you." Or something to that effect. For he who wanted DF...Fury Of The Storm, My Spirit Will Go On, Body Breakdown, and Revolution Deathsquad I rather like. |
I know German.
It's "You Have". |
No wonder he didnt like it..
NP IE - My Own Savior
Actually my teacher was a she and she was like 50 something. Ewwwwww. The funny thing was she was the person that got me into the band in the first place. She did a thing on the Sehnsucht album with the songs Du Hast and Spiel Mit Mir (translated to You Have and Play with me. Most people believe Du Hast means you hate but hate is pronounced in german with 2 s's) Very weird teacher indeed. |
i used to be king at being disruptive, and getting away with it...
its kinda of funny now in retrospect. I actually got my Chem II teacher to swear at me twice. He was so serious, that i actually listened. That dude let me sleep in his class too  |
I know German.

Du hast is you have. Du hasst is you hate. So it's actually quite clever with the later lyrics. Shattered Future - you might have been confused with Ich Will. That means I Want. |
So what's "Du hast mesh"?
That's not a word, unless you're spelling it wrong. |
Mich. Sorry.
|
So what's "Du hast mesh"?
It's pronounce Du Hast Mich meaning you have me. The song lyrics go something like this (my German-English is kinda rusty so bare with) You You have You have me (do that like 3 x's) You You have You have me You said you would have me (as in marriage) and I have said nothing. The chorus goes like: Will you love her and be true to her all of your days No. No. Will you give yourself to her and care for her all of your days No. No. That's the song in a nutshell. Not exact translations but the main idea of the song. |
Du hast is you have. Du hasst is you hate. So it's actually quite clever with the later lyrics.
Shattered Future - you might have been confused with Ich Will. That means I Want.
Maybe...I don't speak German. Isn't is spelled mech? |
My other fav. thing about high school was that I could get away with talking crap to security. I remember we had this one security guard that was in charge of detention and he saw my first guitar (this was in my late Junior year) that I had and asked if he could play kumby ya (sp?) on it. I told him if he did, I'd shove the headstock up his a$$ so far, he'd be able to tune the guitar with his tonsils.
|
It's pronounce Du Hast Mich meaning you have me.
etc.
So it's a marriage song?? Wow. |
dam
|
It's spelled mich. Phonetically, you can't tell the different between hast and hasst, so it could be du hasst mich (you hate me) or just du hast mich. Later on he starts with "du hast mich gefragt", which means "you (have) asked me". Hopefully you can see where it goes from there.
EDIT: "Du hast mich" does mean you have me, but it's also the auxiliary verb in the past participle usage of "fragen" - to ask. So "du hast mich" could be "you have me", or it could just be the first part of "you have asked me". As I say, it's really quite a clever song, lyrically. In a way. |
It's about how marriage is such bullsh*t because they usually never last. At the time you say your vows you mean it, but later in the marriage those same vows no longer have any meaning.
The chorus IMO really emphasises the need to just say no if you really don't mean it. Thanx for correcting me Bartender. I knew it meant something along those lines. |
German is the coolest language my school offers.
