bassist_for_a_band 04-30-2006 10:49 AM

Either way they all kick *** at playing music

2muchket! 04-30-2006 03:07 PM

True. Cone IMO is an underrated bass player his playing his well above average with clear sounding alternate basslines. He shines on songs like WWVII

DJ Ducksauce 04-30-2006 03:18 PM

I think that solo on Welcome to Hell sounded a lot like Maxwell Murder though.

!MuDvAyNiAn! 05-01-2006 04:37 AM

Sorry but I disagree, i think Cone is pretty crap and should try and get his playing improved to make some new cool bass lines in the songs.

benbenben 05-01-2006 05:06 AM

Haha, I agree actually. I don't think Cone is that good of a bassist.

!MuDvAyNiAn! 05-01-2006 05:30 AM

but i do think Dave is definitely an underrated guitarist. Ino he can get some crazy riffs and solos going he just doesnt show it as much as he should so people dont know how good he actually is.

Any idea where I can hear that? I never see it on Limewire... But Cone is an amazing bassist.... I love him

FauxApathy 05-01-2006 08:51 PM

In most Sum 41 songs, I can barely even hear Cone. As far as I can tell, He follows the guitar, or plays simple root notes over and over for almost all the songs I've heard.

Regarding the warped tour... I was excited when I saw them on the list... then disappointed they weren't playing all dates. Only five, in fact. now, if they were playing mine, well, then I'd be happy.

bassist_for_a_band 05-01-2006 09:55 PM

Are you sure? I went to http://www.warpedtour.com and the artist list doesn't have Sum 41.

But man would I love to see them again

Cone does root note a lot, but he's got some cool riffs here and there

!MuDvAyNiAn! 05-02-2006 06:31 AM

I've never heard Cone playing much impressive bass parts. I love Sum 41, one of my favourite bands but I just think he could improve.

DJ Ducksauce 05-02-2006 05:55 PM

Cone is decent. He has gotten better, but they're still all pretty young, so they have tons of time to improve.

poo-poo-pee-pee 05-03-2006 02:49 AM

I think Cone's playing fits in fine with the music. Why change what works for them?
Fair enough people wanna see him prove his talent, but why make a good song chaotic with a crazy bassline, when they can just keep it good and simple?
I guess I just prefer it that way. I love Sum 41 for their music, not thier musicianship.

!MuDvAyNiAn! 05-03-2006 02:01 PM

Yeah I agree but I just think it seems like he's not even trying or something. Dave is amazing but just has to prove it more and show everyone how good he is, stevo is pretty good and Deryck's voiec is just the best, there is noone witha a voice that sounds like that.

bassist_for_a_band 05-03-2006 11:03 PM

I love them all.

!MuDvAyNiAn! 05-04-2006 09:47 AM

Yes, so do i.

Tooth Ache 05-05-2006 03:59 AM

I don't think the bassist has to be good to make a good band. Look at Blink 182's success.

A7X_Theater_88 05-05-2006 09:25 AM

mm Dave isnt that great, for a pop punkish sorta band guitarist he is good though (even though they are sorta metal as well).
he makes lotsa cool riffs though like 88, and his solo on the bitter end is prity cool.
btw has anyone seen on that DVD introduction to destruction i think, where on in to deep live, he totally ****s up the last bend in the solo lol?

Tooth Ache 05-05-2006 10:09 AM

oh no, not a bend.

2muchket! 05-05-2006 02:03 PM

Cones best lines are rythms, in too deep and WWVII

Yeah and as a result of it, the note deryck sings doesnt match the last note dave is suppose to play and sounds awful.

bassist_for_a_band 05-05-2006 06:52 PM

I so want to get introduction to destruction... I wonder if any place in the mall would have it? maybe ill take alook sometime...

any idea where i can hear or download WWVII? i havent seen it on limewire...

2muchket! 05-07-2006 10:56 AM

A7X_Theater_88 05-08-2006 07:38 AM

Does anybody know if they are planning to or when they are going to release a new album?

bassist_for_a_band 05-08-2006 07:57 PM

They said they'd be working on it this year but are uncertain about a release date

2muchket! 05-09-2006 01:21 PM
