Yep, i thought it was quite amusing.

:o Notice my new avatar everyone :o
since the last one is already used apparently, ha
this one is better anyway ^-^

RockerGav 11-21-2003 12:34 PM

To be honest, the only good performances there were Avril's band and Sum 41.

Yes, I did enjoy Avril's performance. Not because I think she's hot, far from it, but her band did it well, the guitarist played the solo and the cool riffs, the drummer was double pedalling, and Avrils voice wasn't THAT bad.

It was nice to see a band not totally ruin it.

superpeer 11-21-2003 12:42 PM

^

yep, Avril got flamed way too much for Fuel, just because she's Avril.

superpeer 11-21-2003 12:44 PM

By the way, Sum 41 , which song did they cover, I never saw them

Toozey 11-21-2003 12:48 PM

Metallica Rule

yo what are you guys actually talking about, i've lost the thread of the conversation
i'd just like to ask who doesn't like metallica (before and including the black album anyways) i mean if they hadn't decided **** all this hair metal glitter bollocks you would'nt have your precious emo funeral for a friend crap or most of the **** clogging up the airways thesedays. they were the pioneers of thrash/heavy metal and are still the kings, simply listen to all of the first 5 albums a few times through and you'll see what i mean
don't you think its amazing how hetfield can rip out those tight *** riffs whilst singing

what is the greatest metallica riff?

High On Maiden 11-21-2003 02:10 PM

Metallica's old stuff is admiteddly better - but still mediocre, lifeless and boring IMO.

If you want some classic thrash check out SLAYER.

Jacharias P 11-21-2003 02:11 PM

you ****

eh 'high on maiden' whoever the **** you are, why would you come to this metallica thread just to diss metallica what are you some sort of loser piss off this is meant to celebrate the amazingness of the greatest band ever

Jacharias P 11-21-2003 02:14 PM

Fair play what sleyer i've heard is good and highly thrashy but this is'nt a slayer forum so who give a ****. why don't i just start mindlessly talking about how good a guitarist Rhandy Rhoads was and completely deject from and destroy the purpose of ths forum

High On Maiden 11-21-2003 02:34 PM

Firecracker 11-21-2003 02:39 PM

hahaha.
iron maiden are the greatest band ever.

Jacharias P 11-21-2003 02:53 PM

Ok maybe i exadurated when i said that, but **** you. Iron Maiden are good and there latest album dance of death is ripping and better than St anger but **** you anyway fair enough if you want to diss metallica because you wouldn't know the best thrash metal if it came up and smacked you over the head with a guitar but you don't need to diss metallica fans calling them mindless and **** like that
GO TO A IRON MAIDEN FORUM
go on keep going

I your argument increasingly funny, I take it from you name you are an Iron Maiden fan? If so then you can't really comment on mediocre, lifeless and boring music. At least Metallica have had quite a large variety of styles in there career, whether you think its good or bad.

I agree Slayer are a great Thrash band but you can hardly call Metallica thrash though, I mean they pretty much started to move away from Thrash on "Ride The Lightning".

Firecracker 11-21-2003 03:03 PM

i like metallica.
no need for the bad language.

Orion

Hey guys I saw you were talking about Orion and how awesome it is. I have a few things to say about (nothing bad) Its there best instrumental (with Ktulu really close behind, even though those are their only 2 :D ) Cliff's line is so f***ing amazing and his *2* solos are spine chilling (in a good way) I learned how to play the song on bass before "Bass Guitar" began to be published and I learned the melodic solo but I din know until reading the mag that Cliff had 2 more overdubbed solos with his trusty wah-wah and Big Muff. A mini solo at 1:42 and he harmonizes with the solo right after the melodic solo in the middle. If you play either bass or guitar you should go buy the first issue of "Bass Guitar" and learn the song. Orion is always one of those songs that when I'm playing it I get shivers down my spine due to its greatness. IMO Orion is one of the best composed and best sounding metal song ever!

RockerGav 11-21-2003 04:00 PM

the bit at 1:42 is bass??

The *imitates poorly*

Diddellidell DUN diddellidell DUN diddell diddell dun dunna dun.........

MineIsTheCallOfKtulu 11-21-2003 04:16 PM

that is so true about orion. it is not just an awesome instrumental but a glorious tribute to our dearly departed cliff burton. Orion is better than Call of Ktulu on Ride, but on S&M, Ktulu is possibly my favourite metallica song, although i think it may be the fact that the whole aura given from The Ecstasy of Gold into Call of Ktulu is amazing and then Ktulu leads in perfectly to Master of Puppets. It creates such dramatic effect and a feeling of suspense, you are just waiting for Hetfields Vocals to enter, and they do with such force!!! If i have to pick a proper favourite album song then it would have to be fade to black, simply because it is a masterpiece with such lyrical meaning and is a beautiful rock ballad.

Yea man thats it, he overdubbed his part, one clean tone, and one with wah-wah/Big Muff. Get the magazine and you'll clearly see it. Once you hear the tone of the first solo, you'll be able to pick out the part where he harmonizes with the guitars near the end.

PeEpHoLe_10 11-21-2003 11:17 PM

Well, I don't play bass, so I probably won't do that.

I always thought that bit was guitars, but its cool that he does it on bass.

Can't forget the bit right in the middle where everything stops, pity it was ruined by the guitar tone when the 6string guitars come in.
