I haven't heard much of their stuff, but I keep getting recommended.

The only one I've heard is the one with the Kashmir-like riff, then breaks down into a good riff.

And yes, I heard it at the end of the Matrix :(.

Arucard 04-10-2005 04:10 PM

RATM are an amazing band. The guitar work is great.

Kurtz 04-10-2005 04:10 PM

RATM's S/T is good, the rest of their stuff is nothing to write home about.

Arucard 04-10-2005 04:12 PM

I think its the opposite. 'Evil Empire' owns.

MalcolmYoungRock 04-10-2005 04:12 PM

What's one of RATM's good songs?

Someone just suggest something and I'll go request it in the YSI thread.

Illmatic 04-10-2005 04:12 PM

I can't stand the White Boy Rage that they have, or the pretentious political grandstanding.

munky_magik 04-10-2005 04:13 PM

Evil Empire > S/T > everything else, as far as I'm concerned.

Kurtz 04-10-2005 04:14 PM

I never got the hype about EE.

Walrus Gumboot 04-10-2005 04:15 PM

Hey

What doe 3^5 mean on a bass/guitar tab? I have never seen the ^ before

Iron Man 04-10-2005 04:15 PM

I like the S/T and Evil Empire equally. Battle... didn't really do it for me, although it had it's moments

munky_magik 04-10-2005 04:15 PM

I wasn't aware that there was any hype over Evil Empire.

MalcolmYoungRock 04-10-2005 04:16 PM
Hey

Probably means bend

You'd get better answers in a guitar forum, but it might mean bend to fret 5.

Hmm, maybe

Off to the guitar forum...

Self titled really stands out for me.

lunch998 04-10-2005 04:18 PM

Evil Empire is usually overlooked. I think it's their best.

Every Rage fan I've met seems to love it.

Bend.

Arucard 04-10-2005 04:19 PM

Agreed. Another Evil Empire fan!

*'Lod III* is the guitar forum's comm thread

^ can also signify a hammer-on and pull-off, by the way... but bend is usually how it's used. Listen to the song to find out.

No problem.

I think Joe answered the question before I did, so extend him some love too.

I thought usually hammer on and pull off were h and p

like 3h4h5p4p3.

Jom 04-10-2005 04:30 PM
I thought usually hammer on and pull off were h and p

Yeah, that's the normal notation :)

It's just that I have seen tablature legends that have ^ as a hammer or a pull, too.

My point was that ^ usually is a bend.
Is this the new community thread?
"No."

hammer-on is usually described with "h", as in "4h5"
Is this the new community thread?
No, this is a frisbee.

I just learnt Slaughter Of The Soul by At The Gates on guitar. Sounds amazing.
No shit, Sherlock. Did you bother reading my post? :)
Well, I felt like saying that because I've never seen ^ used for a hammer-on. Ever.

I have... except, it was for a pull-off.

MalcolmYoungRock 04-10-2005 04:38 PM
I have... except, it was for a pull-off.
So you should have just said pull-off and we could have avoided this whole thing.

Sleep tight.

Illmatic 04-10-2005 04:40 PM

I've never seen it used for pull-off either.

Warrants mentioning.

MalcolmYoungRock 04-10-2005 04:40 PM
Yeah, STFU :p

Good night, Jelle.

I'll give you a Pepsi tomorrow.
I meant just pull off, not hammer on.

Silly.

I already missed the conception of this thread...how sad.
