The acoustic version of ACLOTM at the end of the bridge. The end of the bridge in Agoraphobia. The piano remix of Drive. Pantomime. There's a lot of stuff.
|
Oh ok thanks
|
Well the video for Warning is so dumb it confused me.
Shut up. |
I just got into them the beginning of this year, i like their earlier stuff the best. S.C.I.E.N.C.E is amazing.
For those people who don't like the guitar, I suggest listening to the bass it tends to take the lead. |
The bass has always been upfront, which I like, being a bassist. Some of the most fun songs to play on bass are Incubus tracks.

Yea they are really d@mn awesome!! |
It's refreshing to see a guitarist as original as him, who doesn't just rely on power chords constantly.
|
Well the only reason i admire him as a guitarist, Is the way he uses effects. There are some great guitarists that have riffs mostly with effects. Like Tom Morello and Adam Jones, But he stands out alot.
|
Yeah, his effects use is pretty rocking. Of course it helps when you're surrounded by such a talented band.
|
fungus amongus and science was great but after that, didnt like them anymore...
and about the new bassist, i prefer dirk lance than ben sheperd... dirk's style is more funky which makes incubus sound great |
ben sheperd...
 |
incubus is progressivly getting worse, but they were good
|
my favorite incubus song would be:
shaft speak free hilikus version well, mostly it all in the fungus amongus album....... |
Well the video for Warning is so dumb it confused me.
Shut up.
 That's the best Incubus video! |
Are you kidding? Megalomanic pwns it. Completely.

I love Mikeys guitaring because its so different. Sure he uses effects and what not extremely well but he doesn't rely on effects to make his sound, his riffs played clean still sound awesome. Also when he does solo he doesn't just use the pentatonic scale he uses different scales and he actually has some theory background. |
I love your avatar because it's of Mikey.
incubus is progressivly getting worse, but they were good
How were they good? So your saying Incubus is getting worse for no reason, if your basing this all from Melogmaniac and Talk shows on mute, Then your sadly mistaken. |
Stop attacking people because they like old Incubus more. It's just an opinion.
|
Im not attacking anyone, He didnt give me a good explanation.

Some people just like to think they are 'l33t' for listening to musicians unknown stuff, in Incubus' case Fungus Amongus and to some degree S.C.I.E.N.C.E are the unknown stuff.
And then again some people just enjoy that style of music compared to the more popular outlook they have taken with their music recently, although ACLOTM sort of doesn't adhere to that statement except with the two released songs and possible Here In My Room, and Southern Girl. IMO they haven't gotten worse they have progressed for the better. I think I read somewhere that Brandon hates the stuff from Fungus Amongus, he doesn't even know the words to Azwethinweiz anymore lol (Live Accoustic Session). Everyone seems to think that Make Yourself or Morning View are their best albums however I disagree. I think that ACLOTM is their best so far and I can't wait to hear their next album. |

Ive been listening to ACLOTM constantly, And ive never thought they could write music like that. Anyone think Ben had anything to do with the new way they sound? |
They are one of my favorite bands. Dirk lance is my hero as a bass player. I have listened to all their CDs and like fungus and Crow the least.
I like SCIENCE and Make Yourself best. They have transitioned from musically focused thrash funk rock to vocally focused rock. I dont like the fact that dirk shows off less and less on each of their albums. I think SCIENCE is their most original album |

Definitely. Ben would have brought new ideas along, this is probably documented more so in the Halo II tracks found earlier in this thread. Also they implemented a slight garage feel about their sound, the only song that has a similar distortion to what Mikey used in previous albums was Megalomaniac. The distortion that was opted for in ACLOTM and also Agoraphobia sounded less... 'full' I guess compared to the sound Mikey was getting in Make Yourself and SCIENCE and maybe even Morning View (Nice To Know You, Have You Ever, Under My Umbrella) So an influence to the sound would also have been Mikeys change in instument, he went from the PRS to the Fender Jazzmaster, quite an interesting change imo, but Mikey has still managed to get some awesome sounds out of that guitar. I believe Ben is a more accomplished bassist than Dirk, although alot of Incubus fans will not admit this, anyone who has been to a recent live show and seen him play his bass solo's would agree... |
Hhahaha me and my friend argue over this all the time. My opoin is that Ben Kenney is far better than dirk lance. Dirk lances bass may sound may crazy ex:certain shade of green. But Ben K has a completly diffrent style, he came from this crazy jazzy roots band and his bass reflects that. If you have seen ben in concert he is crazy bass. He pulls little crazzy tripplets and makes awesome smooth noises. Furthermore He redid like all the songs that dirk lance did and made them better when he plays them.
On the note of Incubus is putting out worse music... thats a lie, you people obvuoiusly dont have any faith in incubus if you think that. I will admit I like make yourself better. But ACLOTM was awesome in its own right, it was what attracted many people to the band, and it has some of the best lyrics. PS: I do not like the guitar... lol it is too hard to play for me |
definatly... in my opinion Ben completes what incubus is...if you listen to the newest cd and the new dVd you can hear how well everyone works together. noone steals the spotlight (in the album anyway) and in the dvd everyone has their lil parts...i also dont think alot of the great songs on ACLOTM wouldnt have been made with Dirk (i.e. Sick Sad Little World :thumb: , Priceless, and Pistola)...or at least i dont think he'd pull them off as nicely. Ben also adds harmonies and thats another thing Dirk wouldnt be able to do. and dont get me wrong..Dirk is awesome as hell but i think he was a lil behind on what incubus is tryin to achieve...same thing as with Dj Lyfe..i think incubus was growing past their 'scratching' stage and sound alot better with Kilmore using his turntables as a background soundscape. Ben just fits good cause he drifts between the drums and guitar..and thats what really makes incubus different from alot of other bands and thats the Drums and Guitar..both are very unique...and Brandons vocals are a trademark as well...and i expect to see him playin more guitar in albums to come. i'll close my rambling with this..i love incubus...they are my favorite band since Led Zep...and i belive that they are getting better with age. and hopefully soon they will get the credit they deserve. and if you havent seen the DVD "live from red rocks" you are totally missing out, my friend...totally missing out |
Ehh..the new stuff doesn't do as much for me as the old stuff. I love Make Yourself, Morning View and especially ACLOTM, but on Make Yourself especially, they sound bored compared with the first two albums.
/awaits flaming |
I love Ben Kenny to death as well as Dirk Lance, they are both tremendous bassists. On my opinion i think Ben Kenny is better and I like his style a bit more. Dirk is a great bassist dont get me wrong, and I do love the funk/jazz style, hell my idol is Les Claypool. But for what Incubus is now with A Crow Left of The Murder, I think Ben Kenny fits in better than Dirk, Kenny is more of a rythmn (spell) bassist and is more on the lines of alternative music. Also, I wasnt disappointed in ACLOTM at all, I think Incubus has just a matured a little more in their music.

How many people have posted in here more than twice? It seems everyone comes here to talk about Ben and Dirk and then leaves never to return.
|
if your refurring to me, I just felt that I needed to state my opinion. I wasnt posting to chit chat or anything I was just making a comment.
|
No, not really you, but lots of people have done that and then added nothing else of value.
|
well than...start something to talk about
|
Yeh i find that really anoying, Lets talk about something else then Ben and Dirk comparisons for once.
|
How about that afro?
|
Favorite random comment in the background for no reason in an Incubus song - "She should have worn underpants"- Sink Beneath the Line
Whats yours? |
Ive never noticed any wierd comments in the backround. There are prolly loads on Fungus Amongus, But i barely listen to that cd.
|
Yeah, on about half of the songs there is a random comment at the end. Also, theres a few on science including the calgone thingy.
|
How about that afro?
 I wonder if he would get made if someone touched it. |
its not in the background but i love when the santa beats the kids *** at the end of "you will be a hot dancer"...i laugh everytime...either that or
ThursdayNightwesmokedindica, andAzwethinkweizmwasborn" which secret track do you guys like better..the one on Science or on Enjoy? or "smoking the herb again"? |
