Good riffs? What riffs? Surely you're referring to their over-usage of the breakdown.

Monticello 06-07-2007 10:23 AM

Yup, breakdowns killed their album.

RetiredAt21 06-07-2007 10:48 AM

I wouldn't say just the breakdowns. Everything about them screams "generic as fuck and we wouldn't be around if metalcore wasn't hip right now."

Nepenthe 06-07-2007 11:08 AM

I have to agree, Bring Me The Horizon do have some pretty killer riffs. The "every first born dying now" part in Pray For Plagues is cool, and the one near the end of Off The Heezay is pretty sweet. Black And Blue has a few cool ones too. Overall, they are awful, terrible breakdowns, most of the songs are just horrible, but they do bust out a good riff here and there.

Favs:

Unearth
Between the Buried and Me
Converge
And the Hero Fails
All Shall Perish
Burning Skies
Lamb of God (not really metalcore)

Bring Me The Horizon is awful, sorry.

2muchket! 06-07-2007 11:39 AM

Yeah there breakdowns are terrible.

ThePrimer 06-07-2007 02:26 PM

I'm not sure if they're Metalcore but Heaven Shall Burn has some good stuff

My favs are (in no particular order):
- All That Remains
- The Human Abstract
- Killswitch Engage
- The End
- Becoming The Archetype (They changed their style in their new album a little)
- Everytime I Die (They were amazing in a concert I went)

I don't consider BTBAM and LoG metalcore, but theyre awesome

metalhead17 06-07-2007 04:03 PM

I never hated metalcore, its not my favorite genre but its deffinetely up there.

RetiredAt21 06-07-2007 04:15 PM

There aren't really that many good metalcore bands.

Blashyrkh 06-07-2007 04:16 PM

I'm not a at all a metalcore fan..It's probably because I have no idea what metalcore is. What qualifications are needed?
I'm not a at all a metalcore fan..It's probably because I have no idea what metalcore is. What qualifications are needed?
Tune down to drop-C and play breakdowns. That's pretty much metalcore, nowadays.

Blashyrkh 06-07-2007 04:20 PM

I see.. "nowadays"? What about the other days?

RetiredAt21 06-07-2007 04:24 PM

Metalcore now is almost nothing like how it used to be. Listen to a band like Rorschach and then listen to a new band like August Burns Red and you'll be able to hear the difference. Metalcore nowadays is more metal than anything, you can't hear the hardcore influence in most bands today.

Blashyrkh 06-07-2007 06:21 PM

So it's one of those come and go genres like grunge? If it's the way your explaining it to me, I don't believe it will be around much longer.

ThePrimer 06-07-2007 06:26 PM

The dude's right... There are a lot of crappy metalcore bands, but the good ones will start to dissappear :/
Or change their style (Trivium  )

Blashyrkh 06-07-2007 06:28 PM

Oh so Trivium was a metalcore band. I wasn't sure which bands were and which weren't. I have timewarner cable and I listen to the music channels. They used to play that song "Pull Harder of the Strings of your Martyr". I think that was the name of it. I can't remember..not many braincells left.

LifeInABox 06-07-2007 07:31 PM
but the good ones will start to dissappear :/
Never they'll stay forever and rule supreme.

Yup Trivium was metalcore, I liked Ascendancy but it gets boring after a while

metalhead17 06-07-2007 09:12 PM

-Listy- 06-07-2007 09:13 PM

Txus 06-07-2007 09:14 PM

Tyler 06-07-2007 09:18 PM

Anyone who willingly sees LOG is a faggot anyways so their opinion doesn't matter.

Nepenthe 06-07-2007 09:18 PM
