Good eye good eye. It was a subliminal message. Does a huuge thread like that really crash the server or something like that? |
no.
w/e, im going to bed, im sorry if i like the old stronghold. its just, the original. |
Bed is a myth.
|
I'm into that myth.
I'm hitting the hay too. Good night guys and girls and the like. |
'night dearests.
I'm off to a movie and chillin' out and stuff, tis only 8 o'clock..and it's spring break. |
its annoying though.

|
My name is Win A Rabbit, and I don't really play drums a whole lot any more.
Just my pad and the occasional marching snare, but for the most part I've moved on. :( |
THE STRONGHOLD GOT CLOSED!
**** the establishment, its WAR! I never got to introduce myself in the original :( |
But the establishment luvs u.
|
OHNO A DIFFERENT THREAD.
I like version 1.1. It's sleeker and sexier. |
I like your attitude.
|
You know what? This is insulting to the old 'hold. Version 1.1? Makes it sound like this thread is an upgrade, like it's supposed to be better than the old one which is assumed to be 1.0.
|
Yo.... kind of annoys me that my thread was closed, but I guess it was necessary by this point. :(
To bring my own insight to this new stronghold: Hi, my name is Will Hendrix, I'm 18, and I go to Manhattanville College. I play a variety of styles, including jazz, funk, metal, and a little bit of Latin. I play Tama Swingstar drums, Sabian, Zildjian, and Wuhan Cymbals. I also enjoy long walks on the beach, and random hot girl pics. (I love you Berk) |
I'm diggin the recording gear. :chug:
|
I don't know if I ever introduced myself in the first thread. Since I am bored, I will do it now.
Hi, my name is Kelsey, I'm 16 and I have no life. All I do is play drums, piano, harp and sing, and on occassion I may go out and get drunk on a Saturday, then go to church to teach sunday school or read scripture hungover. I also enjoy wasting my youth away on the internet. I like most music as long as it doesn't suck, but mainly progressive rock/metal and jazz I suppose. I play a variety of stuff and I have a 5 piece sonor 3003 and some pretty awesome cymbals that I'm too lazy to list. That's pretty much everything about me. |

Yes, I also have boobs but they are small and unimpressive.
Now that's everything. |
Might as well introduce myself, since I never got the chance to in the old thread :(
My name is Justin Radford. I am 20 years old, have lived in Portland, Oregon my whole life. I am extremely liberal, a member of the Green Party, and have been drumming for over 7 years. I don't do much with my life except internet, games, and drumming, while working at Target and going to college. I like Classic Rock. I am not close minded, its just I love this style so much, so I'm sticking with it. I also like swing, non screaming heavy metal, some classical, some jazz, older pop music, some alternative rock....little bits here and there. I like something from everything (except modern rap and hip hop), but those are the styles I tend to go with more. My favorite bands are The Beatles and The Who, and other favorite bands of mine are Jethro Tull, Deep Purple, Cream, Hendrix Experience, Black Sabbath, Metallica, and Emerson Lake and Palmer. |
Hello to all! It's great having a forum where people actually POST stuff. novel idea.
Already found one drummer i hadn't heard of before, Gavin Harrison. Can anyone tip me off to some of his best work? what porcupine tree album should i start with, too? |
Yes, I also have boobs but they are small and unimpressive.

Man Froggy's, you are old school!
I didn't post enough in the old stronghold to miss it. Ebe's just trying to help out, so I for one am going to cut him some slack. |
Yeah I don't see the big deal about the old stronghold being closed.
why do you have xhibit as your avatar?
It's Stefon Harris. He's a super awesome jazz/fusion vibraphone player, and seemed to be a really nice guy too. I think I'm due for a new avatar though. |

i say the old 'hold gets deleted and watch the postcounts drop!
I'm David and i'm 18 and I live in Minnesota where it was 66º F yesterday, and will snow tomorrow. I've been playing drums mainly through my church, St. Joseph the Worker in Maple Grove. http://www.sjtw.net. I've been playing for about four years now. Mmm... the history of my kits. My first ever kit was a Tama Stagestar that I loved to death and miss terribly. She was originally just a black wrap but a long time ago I refinished her all by myself. Not long after that point I started yearning for something bigger. I loved the custom idea so I found a builder @ http://www.drumshed.org that I liked: Raven Customs. Dan was a great guy, fun to work with, and talented. Got just what I wanted at a price I could definitely work with. I figured this kit was going to have to last a long time, so I'd get the biggest I could afford with the thought of many possible setups. I love it! Though right now she's packed up since my rehearsal room is getting new carpeting saturday. I love playing at my church. Guaranteed gig every week, with an audience of 300+ and other musicians I love. Here's the Pearl Forum I refinished for my church, which I adore. Yes, those are saludas. However my real love is recording. Really, i'm not a good drummer. I'm hardly even a mediocre drummer. But I am a great soundman because I love to listen and tweak. I'm a tweaknut. Here's my current home recording gear. ok it's not much, but 'ya gotta start somewhere. This fall I'll be going to Michigan Tech to pursue a BA in sound design. |
Canada ftw
My fav is In Absentia, its a great place to start.
Agreed. Best album to start with in my opinion. It was the first I got and I fell in love with it immediately. |
