I was sick of Blindfolds like a month after Kezia dropped. It was so over-saturated here, with all the radio gigs and coverage they get in TO. Plus I had Blindfolds as early as June, when the album dropped in August. Same with Nautical and Heretics. Those three tracks are conveniently my least favourite.
I'm not a big fan of Blindfolds either, except the part near the end where Rody goes: "drop the gun, drop the gun and rip the blindfold from your EEEEEEEEEYYYYYYYYYSSSSSSS"

Tyler 12-16-2007 03:14 PM
That's too bad. Why not?
Why would she be? She's not a member of the band.

illpressureurhinges1 12-16-2007 03:15 PM

Well she did it once and it sounded amazing, I figured maybe she would do it again.

BoboTheRagingHobo 12-16-2007 03:18 PM

They brought her in to represent the voice of Kezia I assume, so it worked on that album.

Tyler 12-16-2007 03:19 PM

I'm sure she wants to have a career. With Kezia, they had an open call for a female singer and in the end they went with Jadae, who Rody knew prior to recording. Now I think she's used this to get her foot in the door and get an album out, which she has.

There was a need for character based vocals on Kezia. Fortress is not character based, even though there is obviously a focus on certain mythological and historical characters.

NemesisDivina 12-16-2007 03:26 PM

He would have to know our e-mail to do that now wouldn't he?

Tyler 12-16-2007 03:58 PM

we will cruuuuuush their booooones like veeeermin.

"Tomorrow we will fly high, like our children free of sin, we will meet them at the morning, protected only be our skin. Tomorrow we will fight them (some back up vocal) and we will crush them with our fury."
It sounds more like

"Tomorrow we will fight them
Hide the children free of sin
We will beat them as by morning
Protected only by our skin

Tomorrow we will fight them, (Through the darkness light can cave, or something like that) and we will beat them with our fury, and we will crush them (something something lol)"

I'm digging Bloodmeat. I think they should have gotten a different director and went for something other than a performance video though.

Tyler 12-17-2007 01:14 AM

That director rules, he just went a little too far with post production. It's crush their bones like vermin, I believe.

Something other than a performance video? The song has no concrete narrative, and it's not like they'd be able to pull off anything pertinent to the lyrics with nothing more than a VideoFACT grant.

gmoneyguy 12-17-2007 11:13 AM

I'm giving Kezia another chance. I dunno why but they never seem to click with me.

Tyr 12-17-2007 08:15 PM

You be sure to listen to it until it clicks.

gmoneyguy 12-17-2007 08:19 PM

I was actually able to get through the whole CD.

Tyr 12-17-2007 08:24 PM

Then do it again.

Against Miik! 12-17-2007 08:28 PM

I don't get it. Nobody in real life knows who Protest The Hero is. This dude down the hall from me told me about them last year, but other then that, nobody ever metions them, and they get no coverage on TV or radio or anything.

I like em though. I don't know why. They blend really heavy stuff with catchy melodies really well.

Meh, most of the music videos I've seen with a story or something are stupid. I like watching the performances. Maybe throw in a little story, but generally I don't want to see some directors rendition of the song.

I need to stop listening to Blood Meat, or else I'm going to get tired of it.

gmoneyguy 12-17-2007 08:57 PM
Then do it again.
I will after I get done with Celtic Frost.

NemesisDivina 12-17-2007 09:03 PM

Ooh!

Which Celtic Frost CD? I hope it's Morbid Tales.

gmoneyguy 12-17-2007 10:10 PM

To Mega Therion, actually.

NemesisDivina 12-17-2007 10:19 PM

Awesome. The Usurper was such an awesome song live. That classic Warrior thing where he goes "oo-uhh" is great.

Come to Toronto then. They're relatively big here.

Sponer 12-17-2007 11:09 PM

The only person I know right now that listens to them is my old singer. A few months ago I heard one of their songs on his myspace. I turned it off quickly cause of the high pitched and kind of whiny vocals. :p

Glad I gave them another chance...

Tyler 12-17-2007 11:10 PM

I wish people would stop saying the vocals are high pitched and whiny. They aren't, unless you're talking pre-Kezia.

Sponer 12-17-2007 11:11 PM

meh, compared to what i'm used to they are. but i like 'em, and the fit the music great.

gmoneyguy 12-17-2007 11:34 PM

Vocals are the main turn off for me.

illpressureurhinges1 12-17-2007 11:37 PM

But the vocals aren't even bad. What about them turns you off?

Tyler 12-17-2007 11:38 PM

His tone is pretty polarising. I could see it.

gmoneyguy 12-17-2007 11:39 PM

They, for a lack of a better term, are kind of whiny, and imo weak at some points in kezia. The instruments are what keep me interested.

Tyler 12-17-2007 11:39 PM

The vocals are just too layered, trust me on this. Listen to either new song, there's no "Whine".

Against Miik! 12-17-2007 11:41 PM

In the dead of winter? Its bad enough here.

i am the robots 12-17-2007 11:42 PM

Band sucks. :o
