Anyone heard the song K-OS - The Man I Used To Be?
Just saw it on television, nice video (except for the end). The song itself is nice, but I think K-Os has better songs (The Love Song for example). :) |
Sage is indeed great. What album(s) do you have?
I only have A Healthy Distrust but I really like it. |

The song 'Ride; on there is pretty good |
That Non-Prophets record is the best Sage record in my opinion.
Check out One Be Lo too. |
I think A Healthy Distrust is better then the Non Prophets album, but that's just me.

1. Personal Journals 2. Healthy Distrust 3. Hope I like how some people write off sage because he is a white kid from Rhode Island. I think he has a gift for words it would be a shame if he wasn't rapping. |
That's the only Clef album I haven't got. How's it compare to his later stuff? Especially The Elcleftic, because that's a minor masterpiece in my eyes.
In all honesty I haven't really heard much of his other material other than bits and pieces of the Ecleftic (which I like and hope to eventually get), but the Carnival is definately a very well done album in my opinion. There's plenty of variety in terms of genres and sounds, the songwritings top-notch and the production is pretty even. My only beef with it is the abundance of skits and interludes. |

To each is own. I just popped in the new Kanye West. It's not bad so far, but not great. |
anyone have any gangsta boo?
|
The new Blackalicious is so god****ed good.
http://box.net/public/snidget/files/652532.html MF Doom, Def Jux artists ('specially Aesop), Blackalicious, Busdriver, and early Beasties are among the only artists saving Rap from being complete **** |
I like listenin to biggie, 2Pac, Slim, Snoop, Dre, people like that.
|
Kanye knew what he was talking about on the fundraiser :chug:
THANK YOU for posting that upload.
You're my hero.
I actually have been whoring that everywhere, as people seem to miss it, and I think everyone should have it. It seriously gives Blazing Arrow a run as his best album. |

I don't like him not because he's a white kid from Rhode Island. I don't like him because I don't like his flow, although I'm really not sure why. Something about it rubs me the wrong way. But he's a good lyricist, maybe a better poet than an MC in my opinion. If that makes any sense. I got Late Reg. now and at first glance I'm thinking my prediction back on page one was nearly accurate. Although it was the most obvious prediction ever. |

Although it was the most obvious prediction ever.
I don't mind that people don't like him I've just read stuff were they don't even care about the music its like "oh its a fat vegitrain guy from rhode island he's not hip hop" It's stupid that hip hop has to be a black kind of music(like rock wasn't back in the 50s) and there are even black MCs who come from nice neighborhoods. |
So can anyone explain to me the deal with MF Doom? What other names does he go by, etc?
|
Rap/hip hop is an area of music I've pretty much always listened to (since i listened to music at all, I mean), and yet the one area of my music collection I'm constantly disappointed in. I'm trying to rectify that, though.
Incidentally, is there any love here for the King Geedorah album? I picked it up recently, and enjoyed the hell out of it straight off.
So can anyone explain to me the deal with MF Doom? What other names does he go by, etc?
I'm curious about that as well. I get confused; after a while I thought I had all his various aliases, and then I started to think that maybe I was accidentally including people that weren't him, too. |
MF DOOM is also:
Zev Love X (his first name from when he was part of the duo KMD) Viktor Vaughn (He's released two albums under this name) DOOM of course King Geedorah One half of Madvillian (Madlib being the other half) Metal Fingers (He releases various instrumental albums uner this moniker) and now he's one half of Dangerdoom (with Danger Mouse) He is not to be confused with Dr. Dooom, which is an alias of Kool Keith.

|
Does he rap in different voices/styles under different names?
|
Not really. I mean you'll recognize it's him on pretty much any album, just some times he runs stronger with different themes depending on the name he uses. At least that's what I find. He really gets into the persona, but you'll know it's him.
|
I only have Mmm..Food. I need to look into some more, because I really enjoy that album.
|
He keeps making guest appearances on his own album as other personas. The King Geedorah album has a couple of track listed as "feat. MF Doom", and Viktor Vaughn turns up on Madvillainy, for example. It confuses me so.
Lord Quas is on the Madvillain album too, which doesn't help. |
