I enjoyed listening to the Getaway Plan, the seem to have quite a lot of potential. They haven't really settled on a certain scene yet which is not a bad thing, but most of their songs seem to fit into very generic holds which isn't so good. Still, they have some good tunes etc...

By the way- any chance of re-uploading some Red Paintings stuff as I didn't get to here them and the link has expired.

Malice 08-17-2005 08:18 PM

Glad to see somebody else who likes the Getaway Plan apart from me.
They have good stage presence and are awesome to see live.
I am considering buying their "Symphinity" album off amazon at Amazon.com - Windchase - Symphinity but will wait and buy in bulk when I get some more cashola, which shouldn't be too soon. Then I will make some of their tracks available.
I'll look foward to hearing something. :)

I should have something done on Sunk Loto in a day or two, as I have to work around concerts/uni this weekend.

deathscreamingsheep 08-19-2005 06:04 AM

Cheers for the uploads, I'll have a listen later.

blueyxd 08-19-2005 06:16 AM

Cancer Sand? anyway, cheers, I've had The Revolution stuck in my head for a while, bene wanting to hear it again

dUSK 08-19-2005 09:45 AM
Cancer Sand?
My mistake. Windows Media player labels it wrong, ie: The Cancer Sand, but it's really The Cancer Song. I forgot about that when I was uploading it today.

/renames

Also, if anyone here gets the chance to see Shihad, I urge you to do it. They blew Cog out of the water tonight.

The Butterfly Effect heads into the studio this weekend in Sydney to record the

The Butterfly Effect's management are currently negotiating with LA based

To coincide with the new single The Butterfly Effect are touring the East Coast

Also, here's a review of the Shihad + Cog show I saw last night.

AIC/EAZY-E 08-20-2005 01:12 AM

^ Can you tell me some of the songs played? Was 'Shot in the Head' played? Man I love that song.

Malice 08-20-2005 02:27 AM

For anyone who lives in Melbourne, The Dead Letter are performing at The TOTE on the 27th of August.
http://www.myspace.com/thedeadletterrock
Check them out and come down to see them when they perform!

I love Australian music lol.

Ulysses 08-24-2005 05:05 AM

I saw the Butterfly Effect a few years ago at Enmore, I can't really remember their sound but I wasn't a big fan initially. They might get some QOTSA or Tool influence into their sound through this producer which wouldn't be too bad.

PeEpHoLe_10 08-24-2005 05:18 AM

Argh, im in a bit pf a pickle. I had planned to go see Cog tomorrow night but i forgot about the exams i have on. I want to go, but should study. I have my music exams the day after though, so if they put on a good show it might inspire me to go out and kick arse, lol.

Ulysses 08-24-2005 05:21 AM

Go to the concert, make the most of the opportunity i reckon.

PeEpHoLe_10 08-24-2005 05:26 AM

Yeah i probably will end up going...i would still fail the exam anyways.

Ulysses 08-24-2005 05:42 AM

Yeah, I'm currently doing the HSC and not studying real hard, I'm too absorbed in music and instead of reading through notes I have my head stuck in a book about Hendrix or Eric Burdon.

Apocalyptic Raids 08-24-2005 05:50 AM
Yeah, I'm currently doing the HSC and not studying real hard.
Same :upset:

My trial results left alot to be desired.

PeEpHoLe_10 08-24-2005 05:57 AM

Hahah...well i have my second English test tomorrow, and what am i doing? Posting on ****ing MX, curse this site, lol.

dUSK 08-24-2005 06:12 AM

Go and see Cog, and if Shihad are at the same show it is a must. The two bands one after the other was an awesome experience.

AIC/EAZY-E, the Shihad setlist was very similar to the setlist you told me to expect. I didn't know anything of Love Is The New Hate though, as I'm yet to hear it.

Finally, apologies for not getting anything done on Sunk Loto. It'll happen once I get through all the crap I need to do for uni.

Five Star Prison Cell

www.fivestarprisoncell.com

Adam Glynn - vocals
Marc Whitworth - drums
Marek Holain - guitars
Andy Macdonald - bass

Fans of Dillinger will approve of this experimental metal band. They are fronted by ex- Frankenbok vocalist Adam Glynn. I saw them at Bayswater metalfest last week in the outer suburbs of Melbourne where about 50 people turned up for this event. Absolutely blew me away. Quite technical and very amusing. Sound like Dillinger Escape Plan cross SOAD with their own musical flair. Very inspiring live performers; check out their website and follow the links to download one of their songs. :thumb:

Has no one mentioned The Berzerker yet?
Has no one mentioned The Berzerker yet?
Nobody has done them yet. Are you going to?

blueyxd 08-24-2005 06:59 AM
Five Star Prison Cell
I have their song Ballad Of The Cheated, the vocals are a bit heavy for my likes at the moment, but with the interesting music I will be giving it some chance. I've seen the drummer live in his other band, Tension.

Getting some more songs off their site now, I'm hoping Gandhara is the same one from Monkey.. .

dUSK 08-24-2005 07:05 AM
Nobody has done them yet. Are you going to?
They have had a small bit done on them here. Feel free to do a larger/more in depth piece on them though.

All the artists that have been done are listed in the first post. :)

MRDuCran 08-24-2005 07:36 AM
Nobody has done them yet. Are you going to?
To be honest, i don't really know much about them, I just like the song Reality after seeing a video of them rehersing it.

PeEpHoLe_10 08-25-2005 06:15 AM

Welllll, i decided to go to Cog, and how happy am i about that decision. I couldnt stay for Shihad cos i need to study, but Cog were AMAZING live. It was a small venue and only 200-300 people,so i got right in the middle on the barrier. Great show. Missed out on a drumstick though, the two people next to me got them which sucked. But it was a really good show,so glad i went.

Ulysses 08-27-2005 02:46 AM
Same :upset:

I can't say that the exams I have received back have been too crash hot either. All I do at home is play music, read books about music, listen to music and draw pictures.

Iron_Weed 08-27-2005 04:08 AM

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds = Best Australian band ever.

Ulysses 08-29-2005 04:25 AM

Yeah I saw Nick Cave at Wave Aid and watched a documentary on him, very interesting guy. I haven't got any of his material with the Bad Seeds to be honest but I'm considering buying an album.

Jasarn 08-31-2005 05:50 AM

Glad to see no one acknowledged my write-up. :(

dUSK 08-31-2005 06:15 AM

Please don't take it like that. It was a good write up and one day I'd like to check Vanishing Point out. However, downloading isn't a viable option for me, and as I'd never heard anything by them I couldn't really comment. Also, you were unlucky in that Lord Tim posted shortly afterwards, taking up the limelight.
