Others: Be aware that these instruments need to be waxed at least every two or three days during the first couple months you have them, and then once every two weeks or so afterwards. But for that wood, it's worth it. Also, my Corvette has a very distinctive figure to it that most bubinga does not. Just warning you guys, don't order one expecting it to come in like that^.[/QUOTE] I've found that the lemon spray in an aerosaul can that's meant to shine wooden furniture is a great substitution for the wax. You might think i'm crazy for trying it, but i sprayed and polished a spot on the back of the body first to see if it would work, then i did the whole bass. The end result is stunning. My bass has a luster that it has never had before. And on the plus side, if you are still young with me and live with your parents, there is a high chance you already have this stuff in your linen closet or under your sink, and you don't have to go out and buy it. Check it out my fellow warwick owners. |
I just bought one on monday, and I can say that I have NO buyers remorse whatsoever. Sounds beautiful, plays beautiful, and looks beautiful. The rest of my band it drooling over it.
One question for all the Warwick owners, should I seriously be waxing it that often? |
I...haven't waxed my bass in months. Looks fine.
|
i didnt wax my thumb for a couple of months, and i noticed that the neck felt dry as hell, and it all felt wrong - been waxing it everyday or so now, and it plays so much better, not sure why though. It just feels better, looks better too :thumb:

I pick up my 5 string Hot Rod tomorrow morning!!
So damn excited!! |
Mabye I should invest in some wax and the likes.
|
If you sweat at all while you play it, waxing is a necessity. If you plant your thumb somewhere (pickup, side of neck, wherever), then you definitely have to wax there, or the wood will start to fade to a grey-brown color. It's easily back to normal with some heavy waxing, but it fades back much easier than it came in the first time.

I don't think you need to wax the neck, the oils from your hands are sufficient. Unless you have very dry skin. |

i have very dry skin (you really should see my hands, when they get bad, they are possibly the scummiest things on the face of the earth :thumb: ) |
The US version of the SNES looks all blocky and weird.

I don't sweat or anything while playing mine, and we don't really have humidity problems here. I'm thinking about waxing it simply on principle though. |
Sick man. Like the super nintendo too!

Man I Love Snes!

good review
|
awesome warwick!
|
Yeah, my corvette sounds great with DR flatwounds.
|
I agree with you guys that the quality of warwicks are great if I were to get one i would get the $$ but i figure if your going to spend that much on a bass why wouldnt you get a wal bass custom made wich has a 100 times better tone then any warwick
|
Well, a Wal's tone is very distinct. The tone is very high quality, but might not be to some people's tastes.
|
i recently got a warwick thumb NT (good price, excellent bass) and it is just great. heavy but the wood is dark and amazing sounding. I find that MEC isn't as bad as people say, they aren't spectacular but my preamp is very versatile, I'm putting a review up in a week or so and will go in depth.
