On that song it was Victor Griffin (Pentagram) and Wino (The Obsessed, St Vitus). Wino's gone now and has been replaced by Dennis Cornelius (Revelation, Oversoul).

Shred Danson 03-18-2005 11:19 AM

Well hell, anything with Wino in it has to be good.
Come on, there has to be more than one stoner rock fan on this site.

Favorite bands:

Kyuss, High on Fire, Clutch, Neurosis...

There's more I can think of, but I'm too spaced out right now, but if you're a fan of the music, discuss.
I'm a big Kyuss fan, and I like Clutch a fair amount.

not my thing I dont think. It was too ... operatic, kind've how I feel about Rammestien. Synth choirs are very rarely good :p

It WAS good, only ... the riffs weren't that good, if you get me? Marrunno, it lacked that 'thing'. Still good though.

Pretty cool, only again it lacks whatever it is that Kyuss had in abundance :p Y'know, hours later you wont be still trying to strain your voice to sing Thong Song

Patrick O))) 03-20-2005 04:55 AM

As an aside, my Windows Media Player ****ed up and one of the guitar parts on 'Catamaran' is either missing or really quiet. It's the bit that leads into the first verse. Anyways ... sounds alright :thumb:

Jondur 03-21-2005 04:06 AM

Feedback:

Doomsword - I think they're ace. I'm still praying that they play Doom shall Rise! Quality epic doom.

Karma to Burn - Sorry, I didn't bother listening. I've heard them a hundred times and they bore me.

Krux - this band contains Leif Edling. How could they be anything other than brilliant?

Jondur 03-21-2005 05:56 AM

Here's my contribution for today:

World Below "Sacrifices to The Moon"

And for amusement:

Shred Danson 03-21-2005 10:06 AM

What song is that, the cover? It's interesting.

I'm wearing my Candlemass T-Shirt today, the one with the word "DOOM" on the back, and (no joke), some kid came up to me, said "Doom? You play that video game?"

That was a WTF moment.

World below "Sacrifices to the moon" is excellent. Not heard of this band before, i shall look into them. Although the singing isnt anything to write home about, still not bad.

Dont recognize the song candlemass covered.

Jondur 03-21-2005 10:59 AM

The song was "Countess Bathory" from "Black Metal". A good cover I think! Very different to say the least!

I'll add some more songs tomorrow. I think maybe a bit of Solitude Aeturnus, Some more Solstice, some Pentagram, some Trouble and maybe, just maybe some Unsilence.

joe_fresh 03-21-2005 12:03 PM

here are chaps

abstrakt algebra

yet another leif edling band

pagan altar

woop

Jondur 03-22-2005 09:47 AM

Cheers for the Pagan Altar - great band. As you mightexpect from their vintage, they sit right on the NWOBHM/doom border. A great band none the less.

I wasn't impressed by abstrakt Algebra at all.

Now here's my offerings:

Don't be gay listen to:

Solstice "To Ride With Tyr"

Epic doom featuring me hitting things:

Unsilence - A Walk Through Oceans

With the exception of Candlemass, there is no better doom band than the mighty Solitude Aeturnus:

Solitude Aeturnus - The 8th Day :Mourning

Shred Danson 03-22-2005 09:51 AM

Jesus Christ, I've got to get YouSendIt. Maybe I can help with the Stoner Rock like Jondur is doing with the doom side of this thread.

And you're right, Solitude Aeturnus is very awesome indeed.

Bartender 03-22-2005 10:03 AM

You don't need to 'get' yousendit, you just use the site.

http://s.19.yousendit.com should work, I think.

Shred Danson 03-22-2005 10:05 AM

Schools' blocking it.

Guess I'll have to wait until I move.

Bartender 03-22-2005 10:09 AM

Ah, okay.

I wish I wasn't on a 56K for the next few weeks.

Shred Danson 03-22-2005 10:11 AM

How's Soulseek workin' for you, by the way?

Bartender 03-22-2005 10:14 AM

It's not.

Shred Danson 03-22-2005 10:15 AM

I had that same problem  I hate it. Just get something faster, like bearshare.

Bartender 03-22-2005 10:17 AM

I mean it's not working at all, won't even connect to the server. It's not just that it won't find anything. The same thing happens with any others, as far as I can tell, on my other computer (at Uni). On this computer they usually work, but apparenly not now.

Shred Danson 03-22-2005 10:19 AM

Hmm...I don't know what to say. Maybe you should uninstall it (but make sure you keep the files you've gotten) and reboot the computer?
