I'm not sure exactly what goes on yet, but there is stuff like Ensemble Practice and Concert Practice and stuff, part of the final performance exams is to play a gig at some local venues in Sydney :).

I have been perm banned for "spam", which i translate as 3 posts in a spam thread. its horribly out of proportion, but i wouldn't like to leave you guys moanerless, and there are plent more punctuation marks on the keyboard, eh?

As I said before, just hack the forum, spam more, force the mods to lock down the entire site e.t.c.
Then you'll get your account back and be rammed up the arse.

I've seen you make some useful posts Moaner. But the announcement in the guitar forum was clear, nor should you be spamming in the first place.
If you keep reasonable about it, I'm sure Dave (TBF) will agree to lift the ban. But just sit quiet for a while, be patient and keep your head down (especially in the guitar forum).
The more you harp on about it then the less likely you'll ever get it back.

yeah, thats what i've been doing. I've expressed my opinion in the matter, and that's all i can do.

At the time, i didn't even think of it as spamming, but posting in a spam thread counts as spamming.

I'm not even arsed about the ban, its the fact it was permanent.

I saw those posts you made, I would definately count them as spam.
If it were me, I would've been cracking down on the 'spam in the guitar forum' situation alot sooner. As it had been getting out of hand for a long time.
Surprisingly, and unfortunately it was more of a problem with some of the more veteran members, not the new users. Which is dissapointing, as they really should know better.
But anyway. Dave was just making an example out of you..
Permanent bans can be undone. So just be patient, continue to be a helpful contributor to these forums, while keeping your head down, and you should get it back soon enough.

It somewhat degrades the point of perma bans however if they just get overturned, alot of mods seem to be lenient when they should be hard, and hard when they should be lenient.

I agree somewhat.
How i see it is that, usually, when a Perma ban gets handed out, the user who is banned will just go and create a new account. When they receive a temp ban, (like a week or so) perhaps they will be more likely to serve out that ban.

I guess bannings are really only fully enforcable on those forums where it actually costs money to sign up. Like on Something Awful for example.

Believe it or not, but I actually have been banned before.
Nothing that I personally did wrong however, my account got hijacked and I was temp banned on account of whoever had hijacked me using my account to post crap all through the Pit. The ban lasted a whole half hour or so.

....In other news. I'll be heading in later on today to go and pick up the keys to my new house!.. How exciting!!

Or more specificly, how fun was banning Zakath?

I actually don't like doing it. I weigh the result of it. If I can ban someone to get a point across I do a short ban, like with the dude that made the spam post here. If I can ban someone cus they are an idiot and keep them away from good users then I ban them for a week or so.
