Dirge for November by Opeth is pretty depressing.

Rattlehead 04-18-2006 04:17 PM
porcelain (rhcp) is depressing cause it makes me want to kill myself (i do atually like them just that song is the worst song iv ever heard in my life). In loving memory by alter bridge is an amazing but very sad song (not so much depressing i suppose but very sad)..
lol, porcelain is truly aweful, yes. i despise with a passion. Under the Bridge, however, is indeed a lovely song.

!MuDvAyNiAn! 04-18-2006 04:20 PM

i agree. under the bridge is a fun song to play as well :) porcelain is just going to be the death of me though

Amon Amarth- Arson
That song makes me a sad Viking panda.

Cradle Of Filth- Her Ghost In The Fog

Rattlehead 04-18-2006 05:00 PM

Amon Amarth seem very bland. i don't like the vocals and the music seems limited. i only have Once Sent From The Golden Hall. is that a good example of their "talent"?

sorry to stray from the subject, i can't find the apropriate thread.

Yes it is, though they have better. Try Versus The World, Crusher, or Fate Of Norns (though I like Golden Hall better than most of those).

On topic-
Empyrium - The Ensemble Of Silence
Agalloch - In The Shadow Of Our Pale Companion
Godspeed You Black Emperor - East Hastings
Anything off of Sins Of Thy Beloved's Lake Of Sorrow
That's all I can think of for now.

It's not bland. It's just very simple.

Johan is quite an entertaining preformer though. His live vocals are great + his stage presence.

I'm gonna have to say that With A Thousand Words To Say But One by Darkest Hour is extremely depressing, but so damn good.

Nepenthe 04-18-2006 05:40 PM

Katatonia's Dance Of December Souls has some very depressing songs on it. I know they may get more depressive sounding on their newer albums, but I'm a December Souls fanboy and I think that the atmosphere created with the music and Lord Renske's drained, scratchy voice just create such a depressing mood.

ghettoeddo 04-18-2006 08:13 PM
Most Radiohead is depressing to me. Goodnight kiss by Dream theater is kinda sad for me cuz its the song I was listening to when I was told my grandfather died.
through her eyes-dream theater would be it for me. something about the line "i wept just like a baby as i lay awake in bed."

but pink floyd just...sounds depressing in general. it's such "downer" music if you know what i mean

run don't walk 04-18-2006 08:22 PM

Johnny Cash's cover of Hurt.

randomthought9 04-18-2006 09:54 PM

a_girl_brushed_red_x 04-18-2006 09:56 PM

i think underoaths old stuff is really depressing, im not really into it, but giving up hurts the most is a really good depressing song.

Tusk 04-18-2006 10:06 PM

Anything I dont like... damn, could you imagine being forced into a seat to listen to 120 hours of The Backstreet Boys straight? Depressing...

Crysiss 04-18-2006 10:33 PM
i think underoaths old stuff is really depressing, im not really into it, but giving up hurts the most is a really good depressing song.
Thats the first underoath song I heard. Here I was thinking they were all great then I heard a song from the newest album.
I was turned off by the emo-ness

theyre only chasing safety is so good!

the whole first two albums are like that song tho, but not as good

Crysiss 04-18-2006 10:40 PM

I just like the tremelo picking and the blastbeat style drumming. Im not really into theyre only chasing safety at all.

Its just my opinion because im more metal oriented:thumb:

a_girl_brushed_red_x 04-18-2006 10:43 PM

i am the robots 04-18-2006 11:07 PM

YAY ANOTHER UNDEROATH FANBOY

Damn straight Giving Up Hurts The Most is amazing, probably their best song, I love it, Dallas really shows that he can go high end and low end a lot in that song, plus Aaron's drumming is spectacular.

ThePinkPanther 04-18-2006 11:09 PM

songs by Morphine. Even though i don't think they're depressing, they're mellow.

Mother 04-18-2006 11:53 PM

Ben taylor - Rain
Anathema -one last goodbye
AIC - Nutshell

Shadius 04-19-2006 07:08 AM

Tool - 10,000 Days.

Werny 04-19-2006 08:10 AM
Aphex Twin - Rhubarb
I find that song really melancholic, like sad in an uplifting way.

The Wreckage Of My Flesh - My Dying Bride
Tenhi are a very depressing group.
Multiple Counts Of Murder - Torture Killer (I shat you not, there's a very depressing melody in it)
For You - My Dying Bride
Hymn V - Ulver
Sum - Meshuggah
