Anyone who lives in Leeds, England check out 'Time To Leave'. They're my mates band. Sound a bit like The Used. Not really into that kind of music but I enjoyed their gig last night.

Happymeal 08-18-2005 09:17 PM

I'm gonna recommend Tiger Bear Wolf. Yes, they have a lame name, but they're like a catchier Fugazi + they rock hard. They just released their debut s/t earlier this year so you guys check that out.

Tjebby 08-19-2005 02:36 PM

none of them.

Eh, I'd say look into Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses. It's not bad.

Don't listen to Tjebby. He doesn't know what he's saying. Atreyu is decent. :p

Thanks, I was hoping you'd answer. I know they aren't the greatest. I just wanted to check them out.

Cute Is What We Aim For - A local pop-punk band that is starting to get some recognition on the national level. Pretty fun live show too.

Mute Print 08-24-2005 02:05 PM

The Code - Anyone who hasn't heard of these guys needs to check them out. They are a punk band out of Pennsylvania, and they are really good. They are often compared to Anti-Flag.

I have their album, Alert Aware Involve if anyone wants it.

The Crowing 08-24-2005 09:12 PM

I know Kif already recommended them, but Jack's Mannequin. Amazingly good pop cd for fans of Something Corporate (well obviously). Check out their just released cd Everything In Transit.

Okay, I have a couple more recommendations for you guys. Usually I've been recommending bands I have seen live over the past few weeks, but these bands have caught my attention even though I haven't seen them recently.

Bayside - Cool pop-punk band out of New York City. they are signed to Victory records and released a new self-titled album this past Tuesday. If you haven't heard them, I definately suggest checking them out.

Veda - An indie band out of Kansas City, Missouri. They offer a different sound, because they have a female vocalist by the name of Kristen May. I hadn't heard of them until just recently, but they are actually pretty good. Similar to Paramore.

I have albums from both bands, so if you are interested, let me know. Ath this point, YSI isn't working real well for me (because my file converter expired), but you can still get them off me using AIM (EmoScreamoPunk9), or Soulseek (user515). With Soulseek, message me and I will add you to my userlist so you can view my files.

Kif's Sunday Recommendations!

My Awesome Compilation are my first recommendation. Their mixed style of Fall Out Boy's catchy melodies and Jimmy Eat World's heavier riffs, along with the British accent, has got them known a lot here in the UK. Their new album, Actions, provides lots of good fun songs with clever lyrics. Listen to "You Need Discipline" and "Gave You Everything" on their PV.

I Am The Avalanche are up next, who some might know. After the massive Drive-Thru band The Movielife split, vocalist Brandon created this new lighter band. Their somewhat dark riffs and Brandon's matured writing style has won previous unsure Movielife fans over. Their self-titled debut is released in a month's time, and it's brilliant. Listen to "Dead And Gone" and "New Disaster" on their PV.

The Juliana Theory have that skill of making catchy and original music. When combined with their impressive lyrics, TJT are a big name in the online music world. Their new release, Deadbeat Sweetheartbeat, is sure to be one of the end of the year's highlights. Listen to "Shotgun Serenade" and "The Final Song" on their PV.

Excuse me for having to use a Myspace, but The New Amsterdams deserve to be up here no matter what. Side-project of The Get Up Kids' Matt Pryor, he creates some of the most beautiful lyricary and songwriting that could compete with others like Andrew McMahon and Max Bernis. He released the Killed Or Cured EP as a download only, containing 5 songs. Listen to "Drinking In The Afternoon" and "Strangled By The Thought" on his Myspace.

EDIT: I'll try and upload all these full albums today, so listen to the songs and decide if you want them or not.

Simply Brilliant

Mute Print 08-31-2005 09:48 AM

Lovedrug - Alternative/Indie band out of Canton, Ohio. Some of the better musicians I've heard in a while.

Days Away - Talented Alternative/Indie band from Philidelphia, PA. Signed to Fueled By Ramen records.

I'll try to upload albums from them in the YSI thread in a little while.

Kif's Sunday Recommendations

Socratic may be one of Drive-Thru's best new signings. Their unique style of music makes every song difficult to categorize, and their debut album Lunch For The Sky is certainly a journey in itself. Incorporating the best elements of pop and classic rock sensibilities, each song unfolds through vivid lyrics and perfect song arrangement. Listen to "Alexandria As Our Lens" and "Lunch For The Sky" on their PV.

Rufio's arrival on the pop-punk scene in came in the form of the exciting Perhaps, I Suppose.... Their incredibly fast pace, technical and melodic pop-punk riffs and heartfelt lyrics made this one of the top albums of 2002. Now, 3 years on and after the release of their latest offering, The Comfort Of Home, Rufio have remastered undoubtedly their masterpiece, and included 5 exclusive demos. Listen to "Out Of Control" and "Mental Games" for a glimpse of this awesome band.

Stretch Armstrong are that rarity in the scene today that combines hardcore roars and dark riffs, with the punky guitar work and beats that have seemed to be forgotten. Their new album, Free At Last, is said to be their best work yet, and it's got SAS's melodic rock and energetic force you won't find anywhere else. Listen to "The Sound Of Names Dropping" and "For The Record" and check them out.

My American Heart are my last recommendation. They might not be the most original band around today, but their well written riffs and their infectious melodies make them one hell of a catchy band. Their debut, The Meaning Of Makeup, produced by Sal Villanueva (Taking Back Sunday, Thursday), is sure to get on everyone's stereos. Listen to "The Process" and "Don't Sleep" on their PV.

Uploads are available to download here, so check them out :thumb:

Kif's Sunday Recommendations

I'm sure everyone has heard the news about YSI type links, and that they are banned from MX. What I might do is upload them to my alternate Gmail, and post the password in here. Sorry if this annoys anyone, but it's the best I can do without uploading through AIM all day, which slows my computer down so much.

With Honor are a hardcore band, bringing back the older punk riffs and combining them with deep vocals and roaring melodies. They have toured hard over the past 2 years, and are releasing their debut for major indie label Victory Records, This Is Our Revenge later this year. Trust me when I say this band are awesome and will be big! Listen to "Like Trumpets" and "Gun For Hire" on their PV.

Go Betty Go are my next recommendation. This all-girl pop-punk band pull out catchy hooks like many other bands can't, and their harsh riffs and fast beats make them one to look out for. Their debut album Nothing Is More is out now, and has been quite popular in the pop-punk scene. Check out "Son Mis Locur

Valencia are 5 guys who make feel-good pop-punk songs. Think Hidden In Plain View, but with more variety and structure to their songs. Chirpy melodies and great vocals made them a hit on Purevolume, and their debut album This Could Be A Possibilty will surely get them noticed. Listen to "The Space Between" and "Eagle Mount Drive" on their PV.

Let Go are my last recommendation. They have a heavy JEW sound, and an ability to combine lush lyrics with hard-hitting pop-punk melodies (Like JEW, then?). Their debut self-titled album is out next month, and has been praised by bands like Jack's Mannequin and Spitalfield. Listen to "Spotlights" and "Paper-Cuts" on their PV.

NOTE: With Honor, much to my dismay, hasn't leaked. The rest of those though have, and I will try and upload them to my Gmail account as soon as I can. Meanwhile, check those bands out if they tickle your fancy.

DepthsOfDreams555 09-11-2005 11:41 AM

Alright I don't really use Gmail but I can figure it out.

Angry Balled Fists! 09-11-2005 01:31 PM

megaupload ?

With honour are pretty cool.

Kif 09-11-2005 01:35 PM

All YSI-type links are banned I think.

Mute Print 09-12-2005 01:10 PM

This weekend, I went to two concerts, and got to see a lot of cool bands. Here a couple of them that I would would definately recommend checking out:

Just Surrender - Pop-punk band out of New York. Their sound is a bit like that of Taking Back Sunday. Really cool live act, too.

Paramore - Pop-punk band out of Tennesee. I saw them a couple months ago with Story of the Year, and I wasn't really into them. However, I got to see them again on Saturday, and they were pretty awesome.

The Suicide Pact - Pop-punk band out of Pennsylvania. I saw them with the Starting Line in May, and they were okay, but their show was kind of boring. However, when I saw them again on Sunday, they were great. They had a lot of energy, and they put on a really good show.

The Mile After - Pop-punk band out of North Carolina. Some parts of their songs sounded almost like a mix of country and pop-punk, although for the most part they were just a cool sounding pop-punk band.

The Rival Sonata - Local band formerly know as Led Astray. This band is incredible. I saw them with Story of the Year a couple months ago, when they were still known as Led Astray, and it was intense. I had the pleasure of seeing them again last night, and they were even better. If you only check out one of these bands, make sure it's these guys. (Note: to find music, use the link to Led Astray, as The Rival Sonata purevolume currently contains no songs.)

I also recommend Madison and Cute Is What We Aim For,who I have already mentioned before, as well as Day At The Fair and My American Heart, who have been recently recommended by Kif.

Angry Balled Fists! 09-12-2005 01:51 PM

Man, My American Heart look pretty gay

I quite like them though.

Kif 09-12-2005 02:07 PM

Haha yeah. 4 people with stupid hair cuts and one Chinese guy at the back.

Angry Balled Fists! 09-12-2005 02:16 PM

There are 3 chinese in the band aren't there thouhh ?

Listen to them if you didn't see my thread.

One Way Letter
They have a really good female vocalist. Excellent band from what I've heard so far.

Ludo
Think The Aquabat's vocals with a synth pop band.

I suck at writing descriptions. Just listen to the bands.

Good bands, Spence. I'm not huge on Ludo, but I also don't like the Aquabats that much.

And don't worry, I can't write descriptions either. :p
