We talk about it there, and a select few people like it, but a select few others disrespect the emo genre and ruin it for everyone. I think it would be wiser to talk emo in here.

The only emo discussion that passes unscathed in the punk forum is that of real emo bands. Talking about Taking Back Sunday or Dashboard Confessional in the punk forum will get you verbally raped.

To your other question, when regarding a punk that is popular, it's far too subjective to differentiate between the loose definition of pop-punk and punk. If they're a true punk band, they're still punk. If they change their sound simply to appeal to a larger audience and gain popularity, you can add them to the pop-punk roster.

Having it as pop-punk is good. I bet you 25% of the kids that come on here are the ones that think The Starting Line is emo. Having pop-punk as the forum name usually dissuades them from going in here, since they are looking for the word emo. And I don't know about you, but I'd rather not have them in here. They usually end up going to punk or alternative and indie. Once again, I'd rather see Alt. And Indie and Punk type out the long "They are not emo, emo is..." crap. Then they can come in here already educated and we don't have to own/educate (as much as I like flaming n00bs).
