How come you closed my "Now Playing" thread, and why is it not allowed?
its in the rules

"Well.........added to our list of Banned List Threads comes a famous thread amongst internet forums everwhere. No more "Now Playing" Threads because of idiotic users abusing them, boosting their post-count by contributing nothing whatsoever to the site."

Carcass5150 08-05-2004 01:03 AM

Well this is more toward the Administrators I suppose. I have an idea that may help in decreasing the number of outlawed threads and posts. If it's possible to make a direct link from when you log in for the first time that takes you to the rules, or a new typed rules page/memo it may help in forcing new posters to read the rules, or at least eliminating the excuses such as, "I didn't know where it was". I don't know if this idea has been put foward before. I just thought I might put my two cents in.

Great idea, this has actually been discussed. The problem is that each forum inside of MX has different rules. The rules in Rock and Metal are much more stringent than the rules found in Drums and Percussion for example. It is all based on traffic. Rock and Metal and The Pit are the 2 busiest forums on MX. The Pit is pretty much anything within reason goes, R&M is supposed to be about Rock and Metal. With all the members, like yourself, helping myself and Superpeer out we will get this under control pretty quick tho, we are already seeing an improvement.

Is there anyway to have a whole new page that has the general rules of the site on it for the link? More or less the rules that all the forums have in common. Then new posters can at least have some sort of idea of what is right an wrong here. You could also possibly, though it would take more time and be rather large, post a synaptious of the rules for each of the forums. Having a heading with the forum title then under that the synaptious and so on with all the forums.

Suggestion for the mods: This is very bad, time-wasting, and probably out of date. (in other words, it's how a regular user like me would solve a problem)

But an idea of mine (I do it often) to keep a thread on the top is to constantly copy and paste the last thing you said, re-post it, and delete the original. This is my idea of how to keep the rules on top. I do it often in Forced Listening to bump the thread. As I said, this wastes time, but it's the only thing I can think of. My idea is very old-school, and not an extremely advanced way of doing this, but hey, it's just an idea, bad or not. :)

SonorKen 08-07-2004 12:17 AM

Thats not a bad idea. I think re-naming the rules thread will help as well.

Warheart1726 08-07-2004 09:44 AM

EHH theres another band name thread

mr snrub 08-07-2004 10:15 AM

there is a new guy called iron giosba or something, who is posting loads of crap threads all the time, including "Best Year of Metal", "Ask me any question on Maiden" (which he did twice), "Band name" and "If you think I am crazy...". Sort him out please...

How do you start a thread? I have been looking everywhere and can't find nothing. I've been wanting to start a thread on RONNIE JAMES DIO.
