I think everyone should go out and get themselves a copy of The Essential Johnny Cash. It pretty much covers Johnny's career, pre-American Recordings. A definate must-have for any music fan with an ounce of respect in their bodyy.

Lately, I've been getting into the New York Rock scene. Mainly the good old 60's bands like The Doors, The Velvet Underground, Phish and Grateful Dead. Also been checking out some bands influenced by these, such as The Dandy Warhols, The Beta Band, and the Strokes. I haven't been able to get "Dry The Rain" out of my head for weeks now. Can't fully explain it really. These bands are so much different from most others. They're a healthy mix of blues, jazz, and rock n' roll. That's all I've got for now, I guess so I'll see you on the dark side of the moon.

Cap'n Jazz is amazing... *spooges pants*

br3ad_man 05-04-2004 03:46 AM

Listening to the Cows again. Awesome band, just takes years to find their songs.

pacahmyhead 05-04-2004 09:42 AM
Nah I just have one album that I downloaded, "Grand Guignol". It's good though.
i would highly suggest the black box. the torture garden sounds like a crazier version of fantomas' first album, and the leng tch'e is very similar to delirium cordia.

also, he does even more stuff outside of naked city.

i'd suggest taboo and exile, I.A.O., and filmworks V: tears of ecstasy. the drum work on those albums make danny carrey look bad.

Artist: Modest Mouse. Between Lonesome Crowded West, Building Nothing Out Of Something, The Moon & Antarctica, and the new one, I think it's safe to say that Modest Mouse suck at making bad albums, because they haven't yet.

Album: Highway 61 Revisited, Bob Dylan. I was raised to hate Dylan's voice by my father, but this album is so incredible that I'll risk getting disowned.

Song: "Take Me Out", Franz Ferdinand. To be honest, I heard the album, and I was a little disappointed. It might take a few listens, but d*mn! this song is good. The moment where it slows down into that groove is the coolest part of any new song in 2004 so far, IMO.

loose cannon 05-06-2004 08:18 AM

I just listened to Adam and Tje Ants this morning and I liked it!

loose cannon 05-06-2004 08:25 AM

Im always listening to REM. As a matter of fact Murmur is one of the greatest albums ever. I listen to it everyday. Especially Sitting Still. Also i've been digging the new Calexico EP called Convict Pool. It's incredible.

espionage_phoenix 05-06-2004 12:08 PM

I play the electric guitar in the styles of Chris Cornell, Kim Thayil, and Tom Morello; and I am giong to be taking up the steel and acoustic guitars as well...just wanted to introduce myself before getting to the good stuff:

The bands I listen to are not new, but they are great.

Audioslave
Linkin Park
Rage Against The Machine
Nirvana
Pantera
NiN
Slipknot
Mudvayne
Hatebreed
Manson
Kittie
Static-X
System Of A Down
Weezer
Deftones
And much, much more...mainly Grunge bands.

Two bands I've been diggin lately (not sure why)
Weezer-I just got tthe new blue album expanded for easter. it is sweet. The B-sides are excellent, especially Jamie, and the live versions of many of the songs on it. It rocks
Flaming Lips-I've just recently gotten into the flaming lips. I just purchased In A Priest Driven Ambulance. Some songs to check out are Shine on Sweet Jesus (it's creepy but good) and Five Stop Mother Superior Rain.

Also, a new band that I just recently found out about are The Constantines. Their album is titled Shine a Light and its on Sub-Pop records. They are excellent. You should check out the song National Hum.

br3ad_man 05-07-2004 11:41 PM

I won a bid on Washing Machine by Sonic Youth. Is it a good album?

OrbDragon 05-08-2004 10:51 AM

I love The Flaming Lips...I own Transmissions and Yoshimi for a few months now...and I heard alot of great things about the Soft Bulletin...I'll get that one as soon as I see it.

Oh yeah folks HERE is ANOTHER recommendation...if you like Muse, Radiohead and Jeff Buckley: check out MOODSWING.
Cap'n Jazz + American Football = more spooge
Can't argue with that.

neal_672 05-09-2004 09:54 AM

I'm into B.R.M.C again, i go through phases of who i like and i'm back to them, excellent band. If you haven't heard much by them check out:

Spread Your Love
Stop
Whatever Happened To My Rock And Roll
Love Burns
We're All In Love

br3ad_man 05-11-2004 01:02 AM

I've been listening to Sonic Youth, Antiskeptic and Radiohead.

Tangy zizzle 05-11-2004 02:42 AM

Nick Drake has been my most recent find. He was an incredible artist. His last album Pink Moon is one of the most raw and emotive albums I've ever come across.

LoveBuzzed 05-11-2004 04:25 PM

Lots of Tool and Zakk Wylde / Black Label Society lately :thumb:

br3ad_man 05-13-2004 03:44 AM

Currently into the Meat Puppets. I'd only heard the Nirvana covers before this week. They're a great band.

bobisnotmyname 05-13-2004 05:11 PM

The killers.

I've only heard 2 songs from these guys - somebody told me, and mr brightside - but from what i've heard i'm way impressed.

Tangy zizzle 05-15-2004 11:14 PM

Talking Heads - More Songs About Buildings & Food has been declared Tangy Zizzle's Official Album of The Week

br3ad_man 05-15-2004 11:23 PM

I just downloaded a heap of Flaming Lips songs and so far "In The Morning Of Magicians" is my favourite. Good stuff.
