the whole point of my above post was that The Karelian Isthmus is not melodic death metal which makes that soundoff a joke. can't speak for their later stuff though if thats what you meant.

oh right i didnt actually read the soundoff. and yeah i was talking about their later stuff, because i havent heard Karelian Isthmus yet, although it's high on my to get list.

To me their later stuff is just way too predictable and boring, does nothing special and has no high redeeming value.

yeah they're getting better i guess. in the (remaster) liner notes of Dark Recollections, Michael Amott says something like he hopes the music will take the listener back to a time when death metal ruled and "every band had a cool logo."

clearly he's not referencing his time with arch enemy when he says "a time when death metal ruled." now if he was bragging about how cool AE's logo/music was (in the liner notes of a carnage album haha) then i would understand the enmity.
