I wish I knew someone who played some keyboard or organ.
I played piano for about six years, then quit for saxophone, then quit the sax for guitar. Now I can barely play piano, although I bought an organ and I try to play stuff on it. She's really good though, I already taught her Light My Fire and she can play it way better than I can. (I can barely even play the intro)

You're excited to "jam" with her, eh? :naughty:

Distant Echoes 02-12-2005 02:45 PM

I just want to pick up one of them cheap *** keyboards and learn the basics on my own, and when i feel im good enough at it, pick up a half decent one.

I wish i had enough money to afford decent equipment...

Freddie9 02-12-2005 02:46 PM
i_am_jimmy_page, could you post the FA on The Doors this Wednesday please? I'm going away with some friends on Tuesday, and I'm not sure how much I'll be on between now and then. If he misses this, could someone else point it out to him, please? :)
Yep certainly:)
All I want to know is this (And to Badmoon if you see it)
How do you post it quickly, and together, in case someone sees it first and posts when it's unfinnished (if that makes sense  ) and will a mod know to sticky it? :)

I <3 that album.

zoso1121 02-13-2005 04:15 PM

the kids all in my school there all into the rap stuff but me and liek 10 other kids are all into classic rock and prog rock and weve got a little band going. covering stuff for now, im the guitarist and we just did Yours Is No Disgrace by Yes the other day, sick song. Anyways last May all of us went to see Yes on their 35th anniversery tour, best concert i have ever seen, hands down. Steve Howe is my idol and Rick Wakeman is Gods gift to the keyboarding world.
Don't like the Rush or the GFR, but Birth of the Cool gets two thumbs up.
agreed. though i prefer kind of blue and sketches of spain.

IAJP 02-13-2005 04:33 PM

I've got my Neil Young unplugged C.D on now, I haven't listened to it for so long.
And zozo, you are so lucky, Yes in concert!
:angry::upset:
I would love to see Yes in concert, I bloody love them.

jpj 02-13-2005 05:26 PM

I got a Ben Harper CD, it's good.

ultimaterocker 02-13-2005 05:29 PM

i dont know why you all bash lenny kravitz. I've heard you guys say that lenny kravitz isnt original and that hes just a copier of 70's rock. Ifyou guys dont know hes been around since the mid 80's. He's got so much talent unlike what you guys say that the guy has no talent. I don't understand qhy people think that musicians can't play hard rock now adays liek kravitz does without peopel always bashing him sayin hes a copier of the 70's with no talent thats ridiculous. Personally Lenny Kravitz is awesoem and writes very catchy hard rock tunes.

1. your point about him being from the mid 80's doesn't lessen the point that he copies 70's rock.

2. where does he show talent?

3. lenny kravitz hard rock?

4. when do we bash him?

5. awesoem?

1. I have no clue who you are
2. He does write catchy songs. Just because he was born in the wrong decade doesn't mean hes bad. And just because he doesn't shred doesn't mean hes bad. He has a great voice, writes classic riffs, and can pull it off live.

awhile back in this thread i asked what people thought of lenny kravitz and out of abotu 10 replies 9 siad he absolutely suckeed. He doesn't coppy 70's rock hes just simply taken normal rock n' roll/hard rock and put his own fresh style on it he is in no way coppiing bands from the 70's. His stlye is extremelly unique and in no way does it remind me of classic rock. If you dotn think the guy has talent then you havnt lisened to any of his abums or youve prob heared one or two of his songs.

I saw Yes in VT on Labor Day, they were so good, and Steve Howe waved to my dad before the show. He wouldn't shut up about it for a while

Jam2Me 02-13-2005 08:08 PM

Dickey Betts is playin' on the Grammy...it's sub-par.

Jam2Me 02-13-2005 08:12 PM

Dickey Betts and Lynyrd Skynyrd and that disaster on stage at the Grammys was terrible.

Johnny B. Good 02-13-2005 08:45 PM

John Mayer is coming out with a new blues album pretty soon I hear. I personally like John's blues work but not his poppy stuff

MalcolmYoungRock 02-13-2005 09:55 PM

I don't think in the history of this thread we've bashed Lenny Kravitz, unless you're thinking about on the first 100 pages. Wow, that was a long time ago.

magicbus 02-14-2005 05:21 PM

Guys remember that American Strat I've been talking about getting since I joined? Well my mom brought one home to try out, and its freakin awesome, so I'm getting it. And the seller is selling his amp as well (Marshall, beats out my Ibanez 10 watt). So when I actually make the purchase, I'll put some pictures up.

what is with your Avatar, Malcolm?

thickasabrick 02-14-2005 09:55 PM

It was mostly me who put down Lenny Kravitz. I didn't make as many bad comments as you guys are making it sound though. I just think that he hasn't grown as an artist since he first came out, sure he writes good catchy songs, but he needs to expand a little more. It worked with AC/DC for a few decades, I don't think he can pull it off for as long as they did though.

So I couldn't buy my friend the Doors book...but I found something almost as good. I bought her the Beatles 1 transcription book for piano, singing, and guitar, and then the 1 CD as well. Now we can jam to Beatles together, which is just as good as jamming to The Doors.

I'm gonna buy John Mayers blues cd when it comes out, I don't mind his pop stuff at all, but his blues guitar is spectacular.

And that's pretty cool Magicbus, I'm thinking of buying a strat later in the year. I don't know if I want an Olympic white one, or a black one...or what pickups etc. It usually takes me forever to find a guitar I wanna buy. I'm happy with what I've got for now, but Les Pauls don't have the right sound for some of the stuff I wanna play.

Man I've been missing this site...

Illmatic 02-14-2005 10:05 PM

(Jimi Hendrix) + (Curtis Mayfield) - (originality, talent, creativity) = (Lenny Kravitz)

Also, John Mayer is a demon spawned from the pits of hell. I refuse to support him.

thickasabrick 02-14-2005 10:06 PM

How come you don't like John Mayer?

Illmatic 02-14-2005 10:08 PM

There were three things I enjoyed about the Grammys, in no particular order:

1) Kanye West's over-the-top performance of "Jesus Walks", followed by his completely honest acceptance speech for his Best Rap Album
2) James Brown making Usher look foolish
3) Ludacris and Kevin Bacon presenting an award together. No more needs to be said.

Why don't I like John Mayer? His music sucks, and he looks like one of those insipidly safe "nice guys" that women swoon over.

Krabsworth 02-14-2005 10:11 PM
Yep. Then again so is Good Charlotte :(. Some teenagers are more cool than others I guess.
Fair enough. Some of his mainstream songs are a little hard to listen to, I'm fairly sure he just releases them to pay the bills. His blues stuff is great, he's a pretty talented guitarist when it all boils down..even some of his pop songs have guitar parts I have trouble playing.

Illmatic 02-14-2005 10:15 PM
yeah i know what you're saying
Wow, another quote of something RNR said on page 1...
