Radiohead not at the top

and plus, good on the Cure, they're awesome.

ATM 03-05-2006 05:59 PM

Yea I just started listening to them and the Smiths.

Good man, now you need some Joy division and your miserablist music education is complete.

Jom 03-05-2006 06:09 PM
Jom, we need to talk.
Oh dear.
Hey Jom, how are you?
Home, thanks. And you?
Man. What posessed you to listen to that much Incubus?
You go deaf for a week and not notice the aural torture?
Pfft, they're not that bad. I just don't cream my jeans when someone says "Brandon Boyd," heh.

Also, I've been listening to their newest material from the Halo 2 OST - The Odyssey. It's the best Incubus material I've ever heard because it's pretty heavy and incredibly groovy. It makes for good listening.

Tyler 03-05-2006 06:13 PM

Hey guys, I haven't been here in a while.

I realize this is more of a recommendation thread issue, but I like this thread more, so can anyone name two albums by Prince I should get? I've decided I want to check him out after watching some of his live performances on random websites/tv shows.

ps: Sup?

Oh good, at least that's something :p

And I'm fine, listening to music, chatting on MSN, and putting off doing my English coursework plan.

Come on now, we have the best conversations.

Apocalyptic Raids 03-05-2006 06:25 PM

1. Fuck... I'm Dead 20
2. Judas Priest 17
3. Bolt Thrower 12
3. Mercyful Fate 12
5. Dismember 9
6. Basilisk 8
6. Behemoth 8
6. Bewitched 8
6. Hibria 8
6. Helloween 8

I didn't think I listened to that much Fuck... I'm Dead.

I guess that happens with Grind on last.fm though ^_^

Sign O' the Times and Purple Rain seem to be the standard recommendations. You need Illmatic to answer this really though, I think.

Tyler 03-05-2006 06:32 PM

Thanks.

I've been gaming like a mo-fu this week, too much CSS and too much BF2. I'm taking a break and going back to music though. I go through cycles (not those cycles).

Shattered_Future 03-05-2006 06:39 PM

I never knew Ben was a Tristiania fan...:amaze:

Lord Abortion 03-05-2006 06:41 PM

Since he got a girlfriend he's been listening to a load of faggy gothic bands...

I'm sorry Ben I <3 u

Shattered_Future 03-05-2006 06:43 PM

Hey, man, Tristiania's damn good.

Although that statement isn't that far from the truth.

I thought they only recorded one song... follow, I think it's the name... along with some other things. How many tracks did the record?

Shattered_Future 03-05-2006 06:58 PM

They did four, but I think it's all supposed to be one song...

Moses 03-05-2006 06:59 PM

1 Devin Townsend 68
2 Opeth 30
3 Iron Maiden 26
4 Pain of Salvation 25
5 Finntroll 22
6 Claude Debussy 21
7 Dark Tranquillity 18
8 Foreigner 17
9 dredg 15
10 Behemoth 11

So the Opeth concert was ****ing amazing... I only wish I had gotten Devin Townsend instead of DD even if they did put on a good show.

Ah yes... movements. I have movement 1 then. I need to get a hold of the rest then.

Deconstruction 03-05-2006 07:16 PM

Anyone like the Patton Kaada album?

Illmatic 03-05-2006 07:17 PM
I can't decide between these two which is the best rap album of all time...

Ready To Die- Notorious B.I.G.
Illmatic- Nas
Guess what my pick is...

Ready To Die is #2, though.
Neither. Public enemy's "fear of a black planet" owns them all, because I've listened to it and it's amazing.
It's like the second or third best PE album and it's really overrated.

hay guyz here r my last fm stats becuz everyone cares about that

There's nothing wrong with some good gothic metal now and then. Beyond the Veil is really good.

Hey, I found that band out on my own. she had nothing to do with it.

But next time you see HIM on my chart, blame her. She's also the reason for the AFI, except I knew I liked them before I talked to her about them.
Hey, man, Tristiania's damn good.

Why do you say a "load" of bands? It's only two!

I also find you inability to spell Tristania amusing.

Lord Abortion 03-05-2006 07:33 PM

You know if you listen to Cannibal Corpse for three hours straight, it will purge all problems relating to your 'scrob and HIM.

I am really enjoying Tori Amos right now.

Listening to three hours of death metal is really funny, at least for me. After heraing all of that intensity and brutality, I have to listen to the exact opposite.

After listening to any Cryptopsy record I always put in some Miles Davis or something equally soothing. :)

Lord Abortion 03-05-2006 07:46 PM

Leonard Cohen is great for that...

NP-Tori Amos-China

Thor 03-05-2006 07:48 PM

Maybe I'll listen to him soon. Currently I'm on a progressive rock/metal binge and it cannot be interrupted for the next few days.

I just watched Night and Fog for my film analysis class.

God, I'm still shaking. I'm not kidding here. Everytime those images flit through my mind again I shudder and shiver. Jesus, I haven't seen anything that's ever had this effect on me before.

I have plenty of hip-hop/rap to listen to anyway.

On the topic on hand, sometimes I need to go to sleep to the soothing sounds of gore lyrics, tormented-like vocals and double bass to feel asleep. It doesn't happen always though.

Was it good? What's it about?

Toaster 03-05-2006 07:51 PM

I almost never listen to softer music any more.. I just have trouble liking it. It's a little depressing, actually.

It's on the holocaust, I think.

Steerpike 03-05-2006 07:58 PM
Was it good? What's it about?
It's considered the definitive Holocaust documentary. 85% of it is historical photographs and film. The Nazis were meticulous record keepers, so when the Allies liberated the camps, they found volumes of photographs and film stock used to document the goings-on of the concetration camps for the sake of efficiency and progress.

The only modern footage used is long dolly shots of the scene of Auschwitz as of 1958, lying in ruins.

The images, though... Words fail me. I'm dead serious.
