I'm surprised you guy's don't like them that much. They've written some great songs, and when you have a greatest hits album with 40 songs, then I think they're pretty good
They haven't really grab my attention you know, Most bands I listen to I can sit there listening to them and say "wow they are damn good"
But them I just don't get that feeling(im not insulting there talent)

DeusExMachina 12-24-2004 01:17 PM

I personally am a huge fan of the Rolling Stones. But no one does mention them on the forums... that's weird. Someone should start a Rolling Stones thread.

I did, go ahead and bump it. ;)

thickasabrick 12-24-2004 01:20 PM

i think they wrote some amazing songs, but over the decades their great songs kinda get forgotten or not noticed in the sea of their mediocre songs.

i really like:

Can't Always Get What You Want
Sympathy For the Devil
Jumpin Jack Flash
Paint It Black
Gimme Shelter
actually i just realized how long this list could go on for so i will stop.

magicbus 12-24-2004 01:28 PM

I enjoy a few Rolling Stones songs, but they're not my favorite band in the world. Kinda plain.

After heavy analysis of my dad's music collection, I've decided he like Jeff Beck, Santana, Yes, CSNY, Frank Zappa, SRV, and Hendrix the most. He has a shitload of other music, though. These artists just come up the most.

Woodstock 12-24-2004 01:30 PM

My Dad doesn't have one Hendrix album. I asked him why and he said, "Because everyone had one."

I still wish he had one.

ledmyzeppelin 12-24-2004 01:34 PM

i think led zeppelin is the best band, stairway to heaven is the best song that has ever been written, but i hate those kids that just listen to classic rock just cuz they think theyre coool....like ac/dc and metallica are the biggest in my school rite now, i can admit i liked acdc at one point, but i've been listening to the old stuff like foreigner, styx, the beatles, and many many others, its good that the other people are gettin' into great music but getting shirts and talking about it all the time and knowing nothing about it, is annoying

1. Stairway To Heaven is not the greatest song ever written.
2. Metallica is not Classic Rock.
3. Foreigner and Styx are poison to human ears.
4. Punctuation is the greatest thing ever, don't take it for granted.

i was like you at one point of time. some day you will grow to realize Stairway isn't as wonderful as you once thought. sure it's a great song, but you can't say it's the best that has ever been written. i'm not a fan of styx, but foreigner is decent.

and how have you been here since october, and this is your first post? were you like thinking this whole thing up for months or something?

I wish my dad was that cool. :upset:

We never talk about the Stones. Sticky Fingers is one amazing album. Aftermath was vary influencial to The Doors.

thickasabrick 12-24-2004 02:05 PM

ya the stones were pretty ****in amazing in the sixties.

that's also how i feel about ac/dc in the seventies, but after that they kinda just became older, less edgey, and more repetitive.

jpj 12-24-2004 04:34 PM

I don't know about when he was in his prime, but people that went to his show at Pitt this year said he was really bad.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 12-24-2004 04:56 PM

Probably he isn't that good anymore but I would still go see him if he ever came to Houston.

Woodstock 12-24-2004 05:04 PM

I knew somebody who went, and they said it wasn't that good. All he played was new material, none of the classics.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 12-24-2004 05:09 PM
Tell that to Bootleg #4.
 for some reason i actually laughed quite loud at that.

edit- and i repped you earlier schyma, i am suprised you don't have stars yet. even i have stars now!

but stars aren't even cool anymore, i would feel cooler without them. i thought it was so amazing when badmoon first got stars, i didn't realize that anyone could get them if they came on enough.

Why laugh?

I am so uncool. A mod gave me a neg rep. I would have stars right now. :upset:

Woodstock 12-24-2004 05:27 PM

If a Mod gave you neg rep, you'd be in the negative numbers.

thickasabrick 12-24-2004 05:32 PM

if my rep dipped too low would my stars go away? and i've seen people with only 3 stars, whats the deal with that?

and i'm sure Dylan is very tired of playing the same song set over the past four decades, i wouldn't blame him for playing new songs.

edit - how do you know what your rep is worth? like when you give it to other people?
