I'm sorry, I get a little biased towards a band when the first riff or musical idea I hear from them is the kind of riff I could write (and most good guitarists) in my sleep 25-50 times an hour, with as good of quality or better quality than the actual riff. Good songwriting takes time and thought, and both songs I heard from these guys either was done without thought, or these guys aren't good songwriters and it takes a ton of work even to come up with something generic.

So what if it's a little amateur? They're a ****ing 'local' band that probably just got together and started writing songs not long ago and probably haven't been playing their instruments very long or untapped their creative potential yet. You somehow think that listening to pretentious **** like Dream Theater and being an "experienced" musician makes you some kind of authority.

okay, I knew they were amateur by listening to them, but nobody told they just got together. Thats totally different. Nobody is good when they first start out, I thought these guys were signed.

And Dream Theater is a cheese/borefest half the time. Being skilled at your instrument doesn't mean ****, the ratio of skilled guitarists to great songwriters is 10000/1.

I do like Dream Theater, but they are hit or miss, as are every progressive band I've ever heard.

Dream Theater shouldn't be talked about in this thread.
