"Free Bird" is, to put it bluntly, an atrocity.

Good job. You win the page.

I'm 16, this may sound strange but i love 80's metal + classic rock. My favorite bands are
Metallica, Twisted Sister, Def leppard, Quiet Riot, GnR, Bon Jovi (i know hes wega hair, but livin on a prayer is catchy), Steve Miller Band, Floyd, AC DC, Hendrix, some Motley Crue. Even though he's not rock, Bob Marley.

That's not strange at all, in fact, nowadays that's the increasing majority of 16 year olds.

The highlighted bands really aren't classic rock either. The rest are good though.

I know, I'm just saying that I prefer music 20+ years ago than the crap they try to pass of as music today.

BludgeonySteve 12-23-2004 05:42 PM

Well good.

Banned Again are we?

I will do "On The Beach"

Rasta Rocker 12-23-2004 05:46 PM

I know not all of it is, but I'd say a good 99% of it is. Rap is so unbelievably untalented it makes blink 182 seem like the epitome of talent.
Lynyrd Skynryd has like 5 good songs. Neil Young has about 50.

/win
;(

I love Skynyrd.

I think they could've been huge, Ronnie VanZant was friggin' amazing.

And Neil Young was a fan of Skynyrd and vice versa.
Skynyrd has more hits then you think too, I think they were just about to get big when the crash happened :(
And I'm a huge Skynyrd fan and to be honest I hardly like Freebird in fact I don't like it much at all. I like the fact it's dedicated to Duane Allman though.

DeusExMachina 12-23-2004 06:03 PM

I haven't heard much Skynyrd, but I'm not a big fan of Free Bird. Too disorganized, in my opinion.

Syncratic 12-23-2004 06:04 PM

I love Free Bird, it's all how you look at it....I love both of them, Neil and Skynyrd have some really great songs......nuff' said.

DeusExMachina 12-23-2004 06:12 PM

Well, I'm not passing any judgement on Skynyrd until I've heard more of their stuff. I love Neil Young though. What a genius.

He really was, you should check out my CSNY review. ;)

Syncratic 12-23-2004 06:16 PM

He's very good, I'll give you that....don't you hate people who pass judgement based on suspicion and not proof or experience.

I know this is a classic rock thread and whatnot, but I just thought I'd like to point out, you should be more open minded before blasting an entire genre. If some huge rap fan said to you "man, Classic Rock is a bunch of whiney talentless hacks, they all suck!" you'd be pretty pissed, wouldn't you? Well, its a two way street. And saying "well, I'm right and they're wrong" makes you look like a five year old. There are some unbelievably talented rappers. Are they the most talented musicians? Maybe not. But the lyrics can be incredible, the music they write can be incredible. Does gangster rap tend to be repetitive and mindless? Sure, I'll agree that a lot of it is. But some rap is very good. With that in mind...

I'm starting to get really into The Who. I have Who Are You, My generation, and Tommy. Any suggestions on a good album I should look to pick up?

Nice own. I'd Rep+ if I could, but I need to spread it around.

I know what you're saying....Tupac Shakur was an amazing rapper, he really brought respect to the genre, and the lyrics were amazing..Eminem is anoter great songwriter, just not as respectable as Tupac....the rappers today are all flash, no dash. They don't respect the ones that came before them...and it's all opinion.

Badmoon 12-23-2004 06:30 PM

I'm getting to see Peter Rowan & Tony Rice, hopefully.
im glad there's some more doors fans out there, im a huge fan. what's your favourite album?
My favorite album is possibly Waiting for the Sun. I also like L.A. Woman and The Doors, but The Doors S-T sounds more amateurish compared to the others. Probably because all the tracks on that were done in a couple of takes.

clown_phobia 12-23-2004 06:45 PM

How come Rock not Roll was banned?

Oh - bad luck to him. Do you know how the long the ban is? He will be missed :upset:

mordredozzy124 12-23-2004 06:51 PM

I think its usually just a couple of days for posting in spam threads

DeusExMachina 12-23-2004 07:05 PM

How often does he get banned? It seems to happen quite a bit.

jpj 12-23-2004 07:06 PM

His ban is 2 days.

Badmoon 12-23-2004 07:11 PM

It's when he goes into the Pit. He is not good with the Pit.
