Note to Trivium:
Kick your singer out, you don't even need to look for a new one!
Just let your backing vocalist do it, he actually can sing.

So, so, so true. :thumb:

Doctor Night 03-04-2006 04:46 PM

I agree.

TojesDolan 03-04-2006 05:08 PM

Hehe. Motion to remove Mr. Heafy from the vocal department: On trial.

Anyhow, I never got into the screamo/hardcore scene screaming, which I find a bit annoying. Then again, I can stand some of it, like the one from Alexisonfire or Poison the well... which happen to be the most "out-there" hardcore bands I know. Nonetheless, I never got to DEP because of the screaming. And a lot of people enjoy them for their musical value/instrumentation.

Or just have Corey do lead vocals and have Matt do clean singing.

When Matt's voice isn't wrecked from the improper screaming he can actually sing pretty well.

To kick Heafy out of the band would be retarded, he's a good guitarist, and him and Corey do amazing harmonizing.

Shadows 03-04-2006 06:11 PM

Matt Heafy always seems so arrogant to me. Maybe I'm irritated by the fact that he's always wearning a shirt with a black metal band on it in pictures, but he appears to be one of the least "metal" looking guys in the metal scene right now.

Cain 03-04-2006 06:20 PM

Who cares if he "looks" metal? I thought one of the things that metal musicians want is to make the rest of the public believe it isn't all just image.

I hate Trivium as much as anybody, but for few of the reasons people seem to be giving, it seems, other than the musical ones.

i am the robots 03-04-2006 06:21 PM

Heafy is into Black Metal... which is really bizarre considering what comes out of him.

He does come off as being arrogant though.

Image isn't everything, but I like the metal image.

Cain 03-04-2006 06:23 PM
Heafy is into Black Metal... which is really bizarre considering what comes out of him.
Yeah, because obviously people have to listen to the exact same kind of music that they make and have it be the exact same level of quality as the music they like and listen to, or else it's really bizarre, right?

This is stupid. The mere mention of the names "Trivium" and "Heafy" seem to make everybody forget how not to be noobs.

Shadows 03-04-2006 06:25 PM

Calm down, you're getting pretty defensive here. I'm always noticing these minor details about bands and Trivium isn't any different for me.

i am the robots 03-04-2006 06:26 PM

I don't care what people look like normally, however if you've seen the vidoe for The End Heafy looks like a homo!

I like his music though.

Deconstruction 03-04-2006 06:51 PM

I just got my last.fm to work!

Okay, that's fine, I wasn't exactly indicting you personally on this front anyway. I'm just saying that beyond the musical considerations and the personal considerations, such as anything Heafy may have said that was stupid, or whatever, it's pretty dumb to primarily mention things like a lack of long hair and band t-shirts as your main reasons for why a metal band's frontman annoys you, especially if you once liked the group but then simply expanded your horizons, as in Arucard's case.

Lord Abortion 03-04-2006 06:55 PM

I'm just not a fan of that style.
The whole thing is kind of Soulless.

Neurotoxin 03-04-2006 06:56 PM

I agree with everything Cain has said on the topic at hand.

Steerpike 03-04-2006 07:16 PM

Wait, wait, wait... People are siting Heafy's lack of metal wardrobe as a reason to dislike him?

What about Tobi Sammett of Edguy? The man wears a Hawaiian shirt on stage for god's sake. Does that suddenly make him or Edguy un-metal?

I've only heard a couple of Trivium songs. Not really my thing, but I might come back to it later. The song Heafy performs with Michale Graves on Roadrunner United, IDon't Wanna Be (A Superhero), shows that he has talent. Just get a vocalist that doesn't sound like something out of a Ray Harryhausen movie.

Shadows 03-04-2006 08:29 PM

I enjoy spending time with you wonderful people.

I think if I ever engaged in international verbal warfare, Japan would be the first to retreat. All I'd have to do is drop the F-bomb on Hiroshima and they'll be down for the count.

Dr. Jake Destructo 03-04-2006 11:29 PM

So I got two CDs today; Cypress Hill - S/T and Sigur Ros - ()

So far, I'm finding both very hard to get into. Sigur Ros for obvious reasons, and Cypress Hill just because it's not my typical thing.

TojesDolan 03-04-2006 11:45 PM

I find () to be much more accesible than their past works, say... eh... Agaetis Byjrun (spelling! yepyep) or that stuff... it's all ambient Rock, but I find () to be more accesible.

And well, I love Cypress Hill since I saw that Simpsons episode when "insane in the brain" is played with an orchestra... I thought that was the real deal... :(

But no. It's not. They have a few great tracks, though."trouble" from Stone Raiders comes to my mind right now.
