I went to see 'The Grudge' Today. The film was enjoyable, and the funniest thing happened in the middle of the film.

Buffy what's here name Gellar played in it, and in the previews we could all see how she's taking a shower. So there's this guy sitting a couple of seats away. There's the shower scene, obviously you don't get a glimpse of anything (:upset: ) and the guy goes 'Pffft !' and he just stands up and walks out in the middle of the film.:lol:

It was good? I saw trailers for it.. I thought it looked like some stupid horror film wanting to imitate the success of The Ring.

superpeer 02-03-2005 11:59 AM

It was decent.

Eitri Is Berserk 02-03-2005 12:04 PM

Maybe I should check it out sometime. I will if/when it starts coming on HBO/Stars or one of the other movie channels.

EDIT: This may not be the place, but seeing as I'm talking to you.. http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=298151
You might wanna close that.

superpeer 02-03-2005 12:06 PM

It's not that scary though. Only in the beginning, later on you just get used to it.

Myabe its just me, but I can't really get scared when watching a movie. 'Its not real' is firmly planted in my brain, that and 'Hey, its not happening to me.' also. Have you ever seen horror movies that are so cheesy they're funny?

superpeer 02-03-2005 12:33 PM

I'm always laughing out loud when people are shocked or scared during the film, some people think I'm weird. :-/

:)

Eitri Is Berserk 02-03-2005 12:41 PM

Unintended humor in horror movies is kind of why I'm not into them all that much. I don't like to laugh at something thats supposed to be scary, or suspenseful. I'd rather have it be scary.. Or suspenseful..

Eitri Is Berserk 02-03-2005 12:47 PM

Ill be back later, I wanna go play some San Andreas. Later everyone.

I liked the scene from The Ring that showed what was actually on the tape. Especially seeing it on the big screen with all the eerie background noise, that was the best scene from a "horror" movie I have seen in a while. It was somewhat remniscent of a Tool video.

Permanent Solution 02-03-2005 01:10 PM

The Ring was boring and unscary.

-Obscurity- 02-03-2005 01:17 PM
The Ring was boring and unscary.
I didn't think the movie was great overall, just the tape scene. And as for being scary, I don't think I have seen a movie that has actually scared me in like 8 years. Thus the quotations on "horror". Like Etri said, I can't get past it being just a movie.

Permanent Solution 02-03-2005 01:19 PM

Yeah...what's sad though is that even when I see something real, like war pictures or suicide pictures, it still doesn't affect me. It's weird.

It can get to me depending on the circumstances, I guess. I think easy access to all that stuff due to the internet and media etc. has numbed everyone to it in a way.

I haven't seen it

Is it like The Village? Everyone says it's "the thrill of the year" and the "scariest since Sixth Sense" and it was pretty funny actually. It was far from scary

The Village is not scary at all. I don't even think it is classified as a "horor" movie. I think I remember seeing an episode of a tv show that had the same premise as The Village (I won't say what that premise is, because it will ruin the movie if you haven't seen it) It was one of those Outer Limits/Tales from the Dark Side type shows. Anyone else?

Cain 02-03-2005 02:47 PM

The Ring scared the crap out of me, personally. I found all the little details to be very interesting and creepy. It wasn't your typical shock-n-stab flick, though, I'll give you that. So if you're used to that kind of scary movie, you probably didn't like it.

Haven't seen the Grudge, everyone said it was horrible. And White Noise...that movie should be cut up to make free ukelele picks.

The Ring looked too scary so I never saw it. Every other crap "horror" movie that comes out today probably sucks, so I don't see those either. (Like the ones you listed.)

And I liked the part in The Village where the monsters attacked. Except then it sucked. I wish the whole movie was like monsters killing people. But guess what! Secret twist!$!

Yea that's the main reason I haven't seen too many scary movies. People make it seem so much scarier than it really is.

I haven't yet gone near it. Sixth Sense was bad (not too bad, but bad), Unbreakable was worse, and Signs was godawful...so it doesn't bode well for The Village.

My parents said that movie was awesome.

-Listy- 02-03-2005 03:13 PM

I havent seen it yet, but i dont think it will match upto the original..Meh.

Bartender 02-03-2005 03:15 PM

I remember seeing the original (or something that reminds me strongly of the one trailer I've seen for this new one) on TV late at night years ago. What I remember of it was pretty cool.

Yeah, it really was a disaster zone.
