Oh sorry, I misread that.

Another thing is that The Who could play Beatles style pop songs. The made some great ones. But they decided to evolve into a lot more than that, i.e. from The Who Sell Out to Tommy in just two years.

The Beatles went from I Wanna Hold Your Hand to I Am The Walrus in two years. The Beatles drastically evolved.

Pop to psychadelic-pop. And you also picked the two most extreme examples you could find, which still do not compare to the difference between "Cobwebs and Strange" and "The Overture"

Distant Echoes 02-09-2005 08:53 PM

I think in this case, the beatles have evolved more then any other band, with endless experimentation. Not just on a greatest hits album like 1 do you hear the difference, but on any album, theres always a few songas youll hear unlike any other song by any other band

But the who have some a long way to. I think they just consistently released great album after great album, no matter where the were in evolution

A more dramatic change over the same period of time=faster evolution.

What you just said agreed with what I said.

Anyways, I'm out. Peace all.

No. Re-read what you said.

G'night everyone.

Maybe if this argument continues, Woodstock's opinion will change. Then the pigs in my basement will fly out of their cages.

Hmm, I think the Who was better live but The Beatles were more influential and overall better. If you asked Peter Townshend which band was better he would say the Beatles.

What do you guys think about CCR, I personally love them, they got some classic songs.

thickasabrick 02-09-2005 09:51 PM

I'm a huge CCR fan, we've talked about them before. I remember one time we all got on a rant about how great they were, but then someone didn't like them and it brought us all down.

I've only got two of their records (Bayou Country and Willie and the Poor Boys), but I've got one or two of their greatest hits cds (I think it's a double disc) and I love it. Their songs are so fun to play on guitar, and listen to as well.

Johnny B. Good 02-09-2005 09:54 PM

What's your fav song by them?

thickasabrick 02-09-2005 10:00 PM

Hard question. They had so many great songs. Basically anything from Bayou Country is great. But Fortunate Son is like the classic rock song.

edit- I cleaned out my pipe earlier today, so I'm gonna go give it a test run. See ya later!

Johnny B. Good 02-09-2005 10:10 PM

sweet I just reached 1000 posts. :D
It is hard to pick the best CCR song but I like "Who'll Stop the Rain" best

Illmatic 02-09-2005 10:15 PM

"Green River", "Run Through the Jungle", "Down on the Corner", or "Fortunate Son"

Johnny B. Good 02-09-2005 10:16 PM
"Green River", "Run Through the Jungle", "Down on the Corner", or "Fortunate Son"
I don't like Run Through The Jungle that much

When do I get my stars?
I fit all requirements

Bad

Moon

Rising

Hehe...Fogerty is excellent.

ArcLite 02-10-2005 12:32 AM

I always liked Fortunate Son and Born on a Bayou.

unclebobscircus 02-10-2005 10:08 AM

One time, a friend of mine called me up and said, "I was just listening to the radio and that Vietnam song came on."

"Fortunate Son?"

"Yah, that's it."

:p

magicbus 02-10-2005 03:00 PM

Badmoon Rising is my favorite CCR song. Its very catchy.

And the Hotel California solo is very cool. I haven't heard this in a while cause I'm used to the live version.

Broken Arrow 02-10-2005 04:36 PM

They played Thick as a Brick on my radio station today.

Woodstock 02-10-2005 04:56 PM

CCR were great catchy songwriters. Very talented.

I especially love the 11 minute jam of I Heard It Through The Grapevine.

Freddie9 02-10-2005 05:00 PM

I love the Willy and the Poor Boys album

Down on the Corner is freakin sweet

Yea, it took me a little while to get into them, but once I started to listen to more classic rock I loved them

Down On The Corner has the coolest bassline.

MalcolmYoungRock 02-10-2005 06:15 PM

It was really funny, today during P.E, my friends and I were sitting on the bench and my friend brought this iPod stereo thing, so we were sitting there listening to bad moon rising, and we get up and everyone's gone. Our P.E teacher looks at us suspiciously and says "What are you doing, listening to CCR and getting wasted? Not in my class"

We found out later he was kidding and was a huge CCR fan.

thickasabrick 02-10-2005 06:43 PM

Do you guys think playing Down By the River would be too long to play at a talent show? I wanna play it, but I think the crowd wouldn't appreciate it, and get bored.

Brewer14 02-10-2005 06:46 PM

favorite CCR songs = Proud Mary, Born on the Bayou and Tomorrow Never Comes

Illmatic 02-10-2005 06:46 PM

It'll be easy to live in a van down by the river when you're...LIVIN' IN A VAN DOWN BY THE RIVER!!!!!

In all seriousness, I dunno.

MalcolmYoungRock 02-10-2005 07:01 PM

Depends, if the crowd likes Neil Young... if not, then no. If your school is anything like my school they'll be like after the first 3 minutes... "PLAY LITTLE JOHN!!"

thickasabrick 02-10-2005 07:09 PM
Depends, if the crowd likes Neil Young... if not, then no. If your school is anything like my school they'll be like after the first 3 minutes... "PLAY LITTLE JOHN!!"
Well I know a few guys who like him, but I'm not so sure about the rest of the crowd. I'm in a few classes with a girl who's related to him, but she hates him.

Badmoon 02-10-2005 07:10 PM

Speaking of "Bayou", I came up with a very cool band name.

The Bayou Runners

Yea, that's right up there with other Badmoon originals like...

Smell my Mule
Goldey Locks & The Daisy Eyed Trio

thickasabrick 02-10-2005 07:16 PM

Past band names I've tried using were Jambouree Junction and Wah Shrooms. Neither really worked out. I still plan on using Wah Shrooms for something because I like how it would look on an album/t-shirt etc

Badmoon 02-10-2005 07:18 PM
Jambouree Junction
Sounds like a TV show. I like it :thumb:
