The music is boring, unoriginal, and repetitive (which in some cases can be a positive factor, but when the music sucks this bad, is not), and the vocals are lame and annoying at best.

Akitsa is generally very good, but they really step it up with their La Grande Infamie album which is amazing. Split with Prurient is good stuff aswell.


And yeah, I agree with RiceMonster about Absu. I've heard Tara and I didn't really like it.

Not really, I mean they play stupidly fast but they're basically just a blackened thrash band. Tara was good but the vocals were lol, they seem to have improved.

Akitsa is one of the best bands in the genre. You don't like them because you have bad taste in music.

Akitsa are kinda meh for me. Some songs are great and some are kinda iffy. Like that super long last track, shoulda used those low vocals on it, the shrieks kill the atmosphere for me on that song. Just stuff like that makes Akitsa not as good as it could be.

I definitely went into the album expecting something completely different from what I got. I plan on giving Goétie another listen, and I'll probably check La grande infamie out too.

Can anyone recommend me a band that is similar to Agalloch? I know they're not really black metal, so recommendations can be more black metal-ish.
