puppet.master 12-27-2005 03:18 PM

im gonna start working through stick control today

styler 12-27-2005 03:40 PM

i need to start working out of stick control too, i can just never find something i feel like practicing..so i just do the basics rudiments with accents...im such a lazy *** :(

edit: im off to l&m in a few moments as well..gonna spend the $700 in giftcards i got from all my family...i knew asking for the cards instead of money would pay off...woot

anyway, im gonna by 2 boom stands, one for my 6" B8pro splash, and another for my 12" ice bell...maybe a cowbell and a nice cowbell stand to put it over to my far left next to my ride..also probably anatomy of a drum solo as well....anybody recomend picking anything up?

Futuro 12-27-2005 03:43 PM
im gonna start working through stick control today
Thats a great book. It seems like that is the standard for drum studies nowadays.

Jezen 12-27-2005 03:45 PM

$700 for 2 boom stands and a cowbell? You must live in Australia right.

Wait, it still doesn't cost that much there. And they don't have L&M in Australia....

Where the hell is your money going? Go buy a 27" Wuhan China.

puppet.master 12-27-2005 03:51 PM

no he lives in canada

he might not be spending all his money though

Drum Phil 12-27-2005 05:06 PM

I shall get pics. Not really a zildjian man but i cant say no to a half price sale

Lookin at crashes too

Win A Rabbit 12-27-2005 05:24 PM

well i finally set up my bass drum, snare, and hats. played for a good little while. and i tested out the recording function on my zen. works like a charm. i recorded a little groove in 11, i'm uploading it now.

Aaron 12-27-2005 05:29 PM

hello strongholders. how was everyones christmas celebrations? mine're still going!

DuckinFutch 12-27-2005 05:30 PM

Two days after christmas?

Drum Phil 12-27-2005 05:30 PM

Im lookin at the following:

17" A crash
16" A custom crash
15" K crash
14" K custom dark crash
k 10" splash
A custom 10" Splash
K custom 10" Splash
6/9.5" Zilbel

What do you reckon?

Massik Kretal 12-27-2005 05:31 PM

14" crash = pointless

Drum Phil 12-27-2005 05:32 PM

Not really, i like my 15" Crash. Its in the sale so im broadening my horizons

Massik Kretal 12-27-2005 05:33 PM

What ever floats your boat.

When you get the K Dark crashes be sure to send em to me.

Drum Phil 12-27-2005 05:34 PM

haha you wish what? ;)

Aaron 12-27-2005 05:34 PM

yeah, i'm gettin so fat.. haha, and i've lost my voice from drinking so much of everything.. coffee, beer, scotch...

Josiah 12-27-2005 05:37 PM
14" crash = pointless
Hardly.

What a odd thing to say.

Think of it as a small crash or large splash.. but hardly pointless.

In fact 14" crashes have a lil more usefulness then most crashes. They can double for a hi-hat cymbal.

One the best hat's I ever heard used a 14" K Custom Dark crash for the top.

I agree that they're versitile, IMO though they're almost in the special effect cymbal [splash/china..] category.. so i'd buy them last.

14" K Custom Fast Crash over Ufip Rough Series Medium Heavy Bottom works well.

Hmm thats interesting. But too me its too big for a splash and too small for a crash. But hihat seems interesting.

Aaron 12-27-2005 05:46 PM

little crashes are good for crashing at the same time as bigger crashes for adding tone and fleshiness to the mix. fattens out the crash sound when you hit two at once.

Drum Phil 12-27-2005 05:47 PM

Thats what i do with them. I used a 15" crash as a main for over a year though

mysticalyeti 12-27-2005 06:04 PM

Depends on the crash... I've played a 14" K custom fast crash that was PERFECT as a large splash. Had a wonderful sound, a bit on the trashy side. I hope to get one some day =/

enjoy. haven't recorded anything in ages. sound quality's not the best, and my hats sound terrible. no metronome, this came out of a little improv session. hopefully buying some new hats with my next paycheque.

Brokensticks 12-27-2005 06:31 PM

I just saw Fun with Dick and Jane.... It wasn't bad but not one that i'd recommend spending 10$ to go see. It's a renter.

Janeway 12-27-2005 07:10 PM

Ah.
Just got back from another lovely day of shopping and a dinner at Applebee's.
I got Lumines for PSP, DOOM collectors edition for PC, a Vic Firth pad, and a pair of Danney Carey sigs.
They feel kind of weird.
They're super light and they seem to bounce a lot. I don't know exactly how to grip them though...

BetweenTheEchoes 12-27-2005 07:22 PM

Yeah I played with those Carrey sticks at a Guitar Center once. Didn't like the feel of them.

I loved the Steve Gadd signature sticks though.

Jezen 12-27-2005 07:27 PM

It's funny that you should get a pair of sticks without actually liking the feel...

Oh here's a great one:

Jezen 12-27-2005 07:30 PM
