Hey fellas....haven't been in this area for a very long time.

I'm just looking for a couple suggestions of some solid new thrash...new albums by old bands or new bands. Thanks in advance

EDIT: Other than Overkill, cause that's really the only metal band I'm keeping up with these days

I have a couple suggestions for you, the first is Kreator, they are a Thrash band from Germany(they speak english) and there latest three albums Hordes of Chaos, Enemy of God, and Violent Revolution are probably the best recent thrash offering's from any older band and at that probably any newer band also. Another band you could try is Machine Head, there latest offering is loosely considered thrash metal but it should be very pleasing to someone looking for solid thrash, its called The Blackening and btw it was rated as best metal album of the decade. Other then that i cant recommend you anymore music its in some sort of a dry season or something lol

New Sodom is spotty.

I liked the beginning of the album. The middle is weak, and if I remember correctly it started getting better again at the end.

Never really got into Sodom, even though I quite liked their self-titled. I dunno why I never looked into them more. What would be the best place to start?

Sodom have pretty much stuck to their sound for the most part, though their earlier work is more black metal influenced and their recent work has a bit more melody to it. I would start off with Persecution Mania and Agent Orange. If you're a bigger fan of their s/t after listening to those two, check out M-16.
