Anyone here a Peter Frampton fan? Just listened to Frampton Comes Alive which inspired me to bring him up in here. He's a hell of a guitarist and pretty decent somewriter. Any thoughts?

What an excellent statement. That song is damn near epic on the live album. One of the best listens ever. |
You can't beat the talk box, either.
|
Yeah, I remember the first time I heard that and I didn't even think it was guitar. He uses effects a lot better than most guitarists.
It's at www.westvilleschool.com/Word/mwhiteaker
It should work, except for the background on the discography page; it's rainbow but I saved it wrong so it won't show up til I fix it tomorrow. Sorry that the page is a little boring in the looks department.
Hey, that's not that bad of a webpage. Good job :thumb: |
 I'm lovin' the sweaty Ray Davies avatar woodstock .
Eh, anyway, would Black Sabbath be classed as classic rock? I think that when they went into the seventies they were one of the best classic rock bands around, records like: Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Sabotage and Vol. 4, shows their classic rock style of blues and heavy music. But in all honesty, my theory is this: As Sabbath moved on in time, their music got more and more complex and less about the raw agility and strength that was in their first three albums, especially on some of their proggier stuff, like, Technical Ecstacy and Never Say Die, which co-incidentally all my friends think are crap. Coincidentally they are wrong. Meh, I know I'm ranting, but I had a pretty rough day in school, people have no mindspan if it's not heavy metal anymore, you can't listen to jazz blues and acoustic stuff without sounding cool. [/RANT] |
Yes, Black Sabbath are definetly classic rock.
Anf for the rant, it's their fault if they want to be closed minded towards music. More for you. |
It's true,
I just can't hack people dissing Jazz, Blues and acoustic stuff, it pisses me off so much. It also pisses me off that people just see me as someone who likes metal, when I have probbably the broadest musical tastes in my entire year. Meh, ah well :) |

Oh yeah, I'm in webpage design. Finished my project already.

Does anyone remember when 50% of what we talked about was the Allman Brothers? That is until Moon brain-washed all of us.
Jethro Tull, Blue Oyster Cult, Boston, Husker Du are also all great ones :) but Rush is still my fav.
I couldn't agree more man. Allthose bands like led zeppelin and the doors, expectially rush arelife time classics. No band in will ever beat out rush. To neil, alex, and giddi. I SALUTE YOU :thumb: |

You spelled Geddy's name wrong. Post your web page Malcom. EDIT-Great Cream page Rockjunkie! I didn't know Claptons dad was Canadian. |
ive always considered sabbath as the godfathers of doom metal. its suprising they are still touring in thier original line up.

I offered you a debate on Dead vs. Allmans, but you passed it up. That was the last straw, and now 99% of you are one sided. |
i hardly listen to either but warren and garcia are talented
|
I've noticed Laterus is beating out DSOTM. Any comments on this? I actually feel that DSOTM is one of the greatest albums ever written, and shouldn't even be compared to the other albums up there (including The Wall). That's just me though. What do you guys think?

Hmm I came here later but I'd still love to talk about ABB all day.. What debate did you offer? |
I'd rather work at an instrument store. That way you wouldn't have to deal with the rap and pop homeboys (cuts down at least some of the crap  )
1) if you work at a chain, yeah you'll deal with kids like that, but I worked at an independently-owned shop that sold used rock/jazz/blues/rap CDs and records. 2) but in instrument stores you'd have to deal with kids in Green Day shirts trying to play "Smells Like Teen Spirit" or some such nonsense |

We have reason to believe that Lateralus has cheated in the polls. |

2) but in instrument stores you'd have to deal with kids in Green Day shirts trying to play "Smells Like Teen Spirit" or some such nonsense
my local independent music store is the worst, they charge laughable prices on everything, and the people who work their are even worst. One guy who works their the a rich prepy boy who dresses in die-tye and baggy cords for the fashion, and brags about his $180 shoes. wow i thought i would never see someone like that a materialistic 'hippie.' i hate people. |
Well, the store I worked at wasn't like that at all.
|
I voted for Lateralus, before all the cheating.

A disgrace to CR regulars. :p |
Hmm I came here later but I'd still love to talk about ABB all day..
What debate did you offer?
Dead vs. Allmans Hardly anyone new that much about either. So we settled on The Who vs. Led Zeppelin. |
Thanks for the feedback on my Cream page! Glad y'all like it. :) I finished the photo page today, except for some realignment tomorrow.
I don't think I was posting regularly for that debate. :( I voted DSOTM. The Wall would have been my second choice. |
That debate was awhile.
The Who team (Which I was on) won ;) |
Maybe we should have another debate. Not today, but sometime soon. What do you think?
|
Bleh I personally think trying tocompare bands is lame, everyone has their own opinion. No bands worthy of comparison should be compared to anything, if you can understand that.
|
We were comparing originality, influence, and skill.
|
You spelled Geddy's name wrong.
Post your web page Malcom. EDIT-Great Cream page Rockjunkie! I didn't know Claptons dad was Canadian.
It's on the computer at school, I'll have to upload it when I find the time... and when my teacher isn't looking. |
I can understand that; those bands are above comparison. Sometimes I just like to argue though.
|
We were comparing originality, influence, and skill.
I remember that, the Zep team got their asses kicked. I was on the Zep team :upset: |
We should also do maybe a Grateful Dead vs Allmans or something..??
Or wasn't that idea tossed up before? |
It's a lot more fun if you set down your morality and just fought to prove which one if better.
