eh wehrmacht aint all that bad, just kinda cheesy

incubus is elite from what i remember havent listened to them in a while

Bazarov 02-02-2010 11:23 PM

I find Biermacht to be a very good album.

I just heard some material from the new Sacrifice album. Nothing great, but better than most of the modern and retro thrash that's released lately.

Stevie 02-03-2010 05:08 AM

eh incubus is ok but they get boring after a few listens

Morumbar 02-03-2010 08:55 AM

Anyone heard Heathen's new release? Is it any good?

landonius 02-03-2010 11:52 AM

Just found a new thrash band the other day, called Axegressor... its pretty intense. As well as Aspid, and Morbid Saint.

Bazarov 02-03-2010 06:11 PM

Morbid Saint is the ****.

Nepenthe 02-03-2010 06:11 PM

kind of the unspoken law of this thread

Itwasthatwas 02-03-2010 06:14 PM

spectrum of deaaaaath

Bazarov 02-03-2010 08:16 PM

I really wish Destruction System had better recording quality. Sounds so murky, muffled and muddy. But you can really tell there's some bad *** riffs in it. Just isn't really clear enough.

Yeah Wehrmacht is pretty cheesy but pretty good.

Incubus is definitely elite.

landonius 02-04-2010 12:54 AM

Has anyone listened to Aspid? One of the best thrash bands ever

Bazarov 02-04-2010 01:00 AM

nope, are they a newer band? Also, there's like 5 on MA, what country are they from?

landonius 02-04-2010 01:03 AM

Agh lol you're missing out... they were from Russia, put out one album and had to disband... I'm pretty sure somebody remastered the album and rereleased it. The song extravasation is amazing, you can find it on youtube.

FatalEnergy 02-08-2010 06:51 PM

Ellefson rejoined Megadeth. I'm pretty surprised.

Ellefson was always one of my biggest influences when I started playing, so I'll probably be the only one who cares, but at least there's more than just Mustaine in the band now.

Nepenthe 02-08-2010 06:55 PM

ive always liked ellefson. will be interesting to see if it changes their sound in any way. i honestly havent liked any of the albums theyve put out in the 2000s.

FatalEnergy 02-08-2010 06:59 PM

The new one had a few cool songs. United Abominations had none and System had Kick the Chair.

Hopefully the next one is good the whole way though. Mustaine says it'll be the last album.

I don't believe it though.

Nepenthe 02-08-2010 07:00 PM

yeah hes like the brett favre of metal

pate 02-08-2010 08:08 PM

I thought he was a **** bassist? Not going on my own opinions, but from what I've heard from Friedman and others. Hmm.

FatalEnergy 02-08-2010 08:12 PM

He's pretty damn good. Far above average for a strictly thrash metal bassist.

I have a bunch of Megadeth bootlegs, and I've never heard him **** up on any of them, but I've heard a lot of the guitar work be squirly as ****.

Jaundice 02-08-2010 08:14 PM

thats just because guitar is harder lol

Bazarov 02-08-2010 08:23 PM

That's cool about Ellefson. But I really don't think this means much for Megadeth making any cool music for their next release. I listened to the new album on youtube some time ago and I remember I kept having to just go to the next link because I wasn't diggin what I was hearing.

I wonder if Dave E. is just going to ditch his other band F5 or if he'll do both...

(edit)... nevermind, looking on MA I see he's in more than just one band, but has a handful of projects already, so that answers my question.

FatalEnergy 05-07-2010 04:51 AM

I haven't listened to much thrash in a long time, but I've found myself listening to a lot of Razor lately, and I'm really starting to appreciate Holy Moses. They are band I kind of overlooked when I went through my 80s thrash phase, but they're ****ing gnarly. Even their new stuff is good. Surprise, surprise.

Stevie 05-07-2010 04:53 AM

i keep listening to cauterization by dark angel over and over again

illmitch 05-07-2010 04:59 AM

i played holy terror in my car the other day it was ****ing sweet

do u guys like them

Bazarov 05-07-2010 08:53 AM

Razor is the ****! Props. I never really gave Holey Moses much of a listen, and I know a lot of people like them, maybe I should check them out sometime.

FatalEnergy 05-08-2010 02:03 PM

Holy Moses is a band, for some reason, I always overlooked. They're ****ing sweet. Try Finished With the Dogs.

It's kind of like a German Sadus, but more punk, and with some of that weird late 80s Voivod sound, and with some gnarly chick vocals.

south_of_heaven 11 05-08-2010 02:08 PM

Holy Moses is a solid band. Never really got into their new stuff though...

FatalEnergy 05-08-2010 02:56 PM

It's pretty good. They don't really experiment, but it doesn't sound stale. Kind of like Destruction's Antichrist.

Bazarov 05-08-2010 06:29 PM

Alright then man, give me some songs or albums by them that I should start checking out. I'm about to check out some **** on youtube of them.

Listening to Finished with the Dogs

This is a chick singing?

south_of_heaven 11 05-08-2010 08:31 PM

lol yeah it's a chick

Ares Kingdom's "Incendiary" is pretty good so far, only listened to the first three tracks though.
