does anybody else find the older a maiden album is the more you like it? by older i mean the longer you have owned it. because powerslave is by far my newest maiden album and its the 1 i dont like as much they always seem to take me a while to get into, peice of mind and dance of death did as well has any body else found that (i love peice of mind and dance of death as much as any other dont get me wrong)
my first studio album by them was "no prayer for the dying" and i was obsessed with every song on it, probley why i hail it as such an underated album. I still find that to be one of my most played albums by them, the newest is Dance of Death because i had all their albums previous to that being released and i couldnt have been happier with it :)

FrailandBedazzled1979 09-29-2004 02:26 PM
where is Frail? this thread have gone downwards since he dissapeard...
sorry Eddie lol, this forum isnt what it used to be and i just havent been on that much latley! ive been super busy with college midterms this week, but im back now :)

Thunder Fingers 09-29-2004 02:34 PM
Stratovarius and Blind Guardian are the two easiest to get into, and still my favourites....you know im a power metal fiend!!!
oh, yes i know :D power metal is an rather fun music style, Stratovarius are exelent, blind guardian are good to, and Rhapsody, great on their instruments, their lyrics i just find funny  great to have you back :thumb:

i got to ask you: should i get an jazz or an pbass profile for my Warmoth bass? :p

FrailandBedazzled1979 09-29-2004 02:57 PM

hehe, i was only gone for a few days haha. did you read my Metalliac concert review? it was a grand on indeed (that was saturday). Power metal i think is the most rewarding style to get into because there is so much that can be done with it, its not a limiting genre like black / death metal where there is a set pattern (though i do live black metal, not as big on death). I have sooooooo many differnet power metal bands that ive found, the large majority of them i enjoy alot but i still go back to the leaders of the genre as my favourites :)

for your bass, id go with the P-bass one!! and have you heard any updates about McBrain's damage going on tour?

ashman 09-29-2004 03:08 PM
so's your's, ash :p
I was being Ironic :naughty:

To ed hunter: Well the more I listen to a Maiden album the more I like it...e.g. I used to listen to SSOASS when I was like 2 (I didn't personally buy it or anything, it's just my uncle used to listen to them), and IMO I think its the best album ever.

s0ldsoul4roknrol 09-29-2004 05:45 PM
I've started listening to maiden a lot recently, their 2 albums i have are powerslave, and the best of. but they're really the only metal band i listen to. What other bands do ya think are similar to maiden (powermetal i think its called) and are worth listening to?
cheers.
well some good heavy metal bands are Hammerfall and Helloween

Lord Abortion 09-30-2004 03:25 AM

bayley has a band called BLAZE now and Dianno is in battlezone last time i heard...

ashman 09-30-2004 03:37 AM

Blaze went to form a band called BLAZE, I have only heard SOTC live by them.

I think Di'anno joined a band called Killers...
well some good heavy metal bands are Hammerfall and Helloween
search for anything deemed NWOBHM - New Wave Of British Heavy Metal

flappersack 09-30-2004 06:25 AM

Some judas priest sounds similar to maiden.
Priest were one of the bands that kickstarted the NWOBHM, of which maiden emerged.

Kingofdudes 09-30-2004 08:31 AM

ashman 09-30-2004 02:05 PM
what's that in real money?
If I remember correctly $14 is roughly £8-9. And I thin about 12 in european monopoly money.

ashman 09-30-2004 02:06 PM

OMFG, Metallica have one more vote at this point...that's the ultimate shame

ed hunter 09-30-2004 02:41 PM

come on people lets vote maiden because we need to beat metallica just so as metallica arnt winning as everybidy predicted. maiden own them although i think metallca are amazing maidne kick them. also it would be to predictable for tallica to win so ltes make edide proud

MasterofBass 09-30-2004 02:42 PM

Whats this buisness about Nicko being injured?

slaughteredfirst 09-30-2004 07:31 PM

Hey I have just really discovered Iron maiden, well not really I knew who they were and new a few of their songs.

So with that being said who has any suggestions on to a album to get first? :thumb:

POWERSLAVE! one of the best albums out there

FrailandBedazzled1979 10-01-2004 12:23 AM

^^^

hell no, lol.

for a first album id say get "the number of the beast" or "brave new world" as they are the easiet to get into and sing along with. Powerslave is better when you are more used to their sound.

toolboy84 10-01-2004 01:44 AM

My first album was the Number of the Beast. I loved it, and still do in fact. My favourite album is Powerslave though.

flappersack 10-01-2004 01:53 AM

i voted maiden!
at this point it is even between metallica and iron maiden
40 -40

ashman 10-01-2004 03:53 AM
Whats this buisness about Nicko being injured?
I heard he injured his back before the DoD tour, so whenever they had an interval in a show, Nicko went to go see his Physiotherapist (who I think is a maiden fan). But thats all I heard. I hope he's ok though/getting better :thumb:

Maiden 40
Tallica 41

Dark day for metal

GurS 10-01-2004 05:09 AM

question: what members of the band are expendable, i.e. iron maiden would continue even if which members would quit?

i'd say if jannick quit, maiden would continue, but otherwise they'd call it quits if someone else left

shadow_stalker 10-01-2004 07:49 AM

i would say all except harris are probably expendable

Thunder Fingers 10-01-2004 09:14 AM
i would say all except harris are probably expendable
and dave, dave is very important... like megadeth, david ellefson and dave mustaine WAS megadeth.. even though david didnt write much...

GurS 10-01-2004 10:01 AM

OMG opeth are drawing with maiden !

anyhoo, i don't think maiden could stand to lose bruce or H a second time, and nicko and dave too are far too intergrated... and as for steve, well, nuff said really

ed hunter 10-01-2004 10:55 AM

cudnt have put it better my self

FrailandBedazzled1979 10-01-2004 12:53 PM

Opeth have no chance of beating Maiden!!! and i think that no member of Iron Maiden is disposable, if they lost any member they group would call it a day. The only possible exception might be with Janick.
