anybody know any bands like tool, except a perfect circle...iam kinda a noob in the whole tool scene
|
Can someone recommend me some power metal other than dragonforce, kalmah and children of bodom.
They aren't neccesarily power metal but they are powerish. The band I speak of is Nevermore. |
From what I've heard you should try Tweaker. Admitedly all that I've heard by them is the Doom 3 theme, but it did sound very Tool-esque.

Children of Bodom and Kalmah are kinda similar to Wintersun.
|

Reccomend me an Iced Earth album
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I think thats the name of the band... they are metal sound a bit like Maiden? Anyway, recommend me their best / most accessible album. /downloads |
Reccomend me an Iced Earth album
"Something Wicked This Way Comes" Or maybe "Horror Show" or "Dark Saga" |
There latest album The Glorious Burden is also a great album. Gettysburg is amazing.
|
Something Wicked This Way Comes is my favourite, you probebly wont like the debut, most people dont due to the vocals, the second i dont mind, but you can get Days of Purgatory, with most of the songs from the first 2 albums redone vocally with Matt Barlow, and some of the guitar is re-recorded as well.

If you want a simpler more emotion form of the band check out "Dark Saga" or "The Glorious Burden" |

If you're looking for Albums, Blackwater Park and My Arms, Your Hearse are good and listenable for people unfamiliar with the band.
|
Could you just recommend me some good metal. I already know the classics(Metallica, Iron Maiden, etc) and some bands like Children of Bodom but I would like to get deeper into things like that. Thanks.
|
Give Behemoth a try.
I personally would just recommend the entire Images and Words album. It's just brilliant and a perfect way to get into the band. Although, these choices are great. You covered the basics. |

You're a bassist I suppose. Here are some fine examples of technical metal with challenging basslines: Watchtower Cynic Atheist Spiral Architect Spastic Ink And here's a weird jazz/grind bass - drums - vocals band: Cause for Effect. www.metal-archives.com is your friend ;) EDIT I've just uploaded some tracks for the YSI thread that might interest you as well: http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=9174291&postcount=3724 |
Reccomend me an Iced Earth album
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I think thats the name of the band... they are metal sound a bit like Maiden? Anyway, recommend me their best / most accessible album. /downloads
They sound like a cross between Metallica and Maiden (although they're closer in sound to Maiden) but with more power. They're best studio album is something wicked this way comes imo, but Alive in Athens sounds pretty good too. Also check out the song the reckoning from their new album (IMO the best song with their new singer, Tim "Ripper" Owens, formerly of Judas Priest). |
I've just started to get into Death Metal and I just bought Cannibal Corpses Live Cannibalism album. I love the songs Staring through the eyes of the dead, Stripped raped and strangled, and hammer smashed face (the song titles are morbidly hilarious)
These guys Rock!!! Don't know about all that Growling though. Hey does anyone here have Dimmu Borgir's Death Cult Armaggedon CD? I want to buy it but I want to know if it's a good cd before I do. Thanx. |
Can someone recommend me a band like Porcupine Tree.
THX |

It's pretty mediocre. I wouldn't recommend it. Guys: Tell me about Mekong Delta. |
^ RCA's FA might be helpful as far as Mekong Delta are concerned:
