So it's pretty good? I've been meaning to pick it up at Best Buy, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.
Its amazing :thumb: |
Oh mates, I am having the worst time of trying to decide what I like better, LAP or PULSE. :-/
|
So me and my buddy smoked tonight.. And I realized, I don't like Floyd as much stoned as I do sober. I like the older stuff more than the later stoned, as vice-versa sober.
|
YAY! got Obscurred By The Clouds and A Saucerful Of secrets today. Not listened to it yet, but I can't wait :D
|
:p
I had a nightmare this weekend where MX got haxxed big-time and all these threads in R&M got deleted. All I remember is looking at the "Page 1 of _" at the bottom of the thread list, and it going from like 35 to 3 in like three seconds  The PF thread got deleted too :upset: It seemed so real that after I woke up I assumed it had actually happened until I got on today and realized that it was just a bad dream
I need to get PULSE, I keep putting it off for other musical purchases. I remember when I was first getting into Floyd and soon after I discovered this thread, somebody uploaded the Comfortably Numb video. I've still got it on my old computer. What an awesome video...
man gg : p Backups are made from the forums regularly. R&M would not be lost forever |
Riva, I'd say I like LAP better because its old school. The guys are still young, together, and they have that Meddle era sound (I don't really like TFC sound).Pulse is very good though, and I'm having a great time watching it.
Yesterday they had an Aussie Floyd concert on the public broadcasting channel and I caught the end half of Sorrow. I've never listened to it before so I didn't know what it was, but the solo and outro were pretty cool. |
Yeah, LAP>Pulse.
|
Pulse on DVD, mmmmmmm. That's some good shi right there.

And the Aussie Floyd are cool; saw them live last year at the MEN (UK) and they never put a foot wrong. Of course due to the fact that Floyd will never tour again it is great to see a tribute act like this. They are without doubt the next best thing ... The best part of the show last year was when they played One Of These Days ... after the one line of vocals the lights flashed and there was a HUGE inflatable pink kangaroo on stage! Awesome :thumb: |
I watched the same thing Magicbus, on the Aussie Floyd.
I haven't seen Pulse yet, although I want it bad, I've seen LAP and it was damn good.. But I still like the later era Floyd more, so I'd probally like Pulse more. |
It's pretty bloody good, if you can ignore how goofy Guy Pratt looks. :p
|
Guy Pratt kept bothering me throughout the entire thing.
:( Then he pulled out one of those Steinberger headless basses ugh. |
Oh god, that thing is so ugly. Was that for Another Brick In The Wall (Part 2)?
|

He was actually genuinely cool! |

I think so. He had it out for a few other parts though too I believe. I was relieved to see him pull out an old P-Bass after though. His hair and face still pissed the fuck out of me though. :( |
Absolutely.
And have you SEEN rick wright's beard? Christ! He was actually genuinely cool!
Yea he's the man. And he has that sweet yellow sweater somewhere in there. |
Yeah with the pink unicorns and shi
man I'm gonna watch that again tonight |
oh ffs the DVD didn't play omg
|
I watched it again last night
It's so cool watching how they do all that stuff. And the cool sweater I was talking about is when Rick is playing Us & Them on the piano. |
Haha, I had to watch it for the shirts that they wore.
Best part of LAP, when Dave does the vocals with the wind whipping his hair across his face. It's so otherworldly and brilliant. And I've always said that Rick Wright is the man. |
Watching LAP made me like "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun" even more. And I already really liked it.
|

LAP has such an atmosphere around it. I mean, it's just so cool. When they pull out songs like Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun, and Careful With That Axe Eugene it just completes the atmospher. It's eery to watch.. but you love every moment of it. Also the fact that they are playing in an ancient colloceum with no one around for miles adds to the effect. The idea is just brilliant. |
Careful With That Axe, Eugene is my favorite Floyd song.
|
Point Me At The Sky has really grown on me lately.
And I'm glad Syd survived till 2005. |
Nudge, nudge.
C'mon people! So what's everyone's fav floyd song lyrically??? I'd probably say either Jugband Blues, Two Suns in the Sunset, Have a Cigar, Dogs or Waiting For the Worms. Don't disappoint me now, ya' hear. |
Lyrically? Hmm... there are several... here are a few
-Time (also my favorite song ever) -Mother -Goodbye Blue Sky -Dogs -If -Brain Damage -Wish you were Here To name a few. EDIT: Damn, forgot wywh. |
I got Wish You Were Here from the library today
I'm liking it alot. |
Nice :thumb: One of my favorite albums ever :)
|
These lyrics from Time:
'And you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking Racing around to come up behind you again The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older Shorter of breath and one day closer to death' They just make my head melt everytime I hear that bit, the way it's sung and everything. Just too good. |
That is a fine section indeed.
|
:goosebumps:
I'm going on my daily 27 minute 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond' binge in a sec, after Time... |
Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
|
Time is such an amazing song. Actually, the majority of DSOTM is pretty amazing, although I'm going to have to say that I think On The Run, Money and The Great Gig In The Sky are average songs at best. I just don't enjoy them much.
I got Wish You Were Here from the library today
Man, do just have the best library ever or what? I'm going to have to get a library card. EDIT: Just thinking about it then, but Time is actually one of my favourite lyrical songs ever. It's brilliant. |

DSOTM is an amazing album, but Great Gig is one of my favorites. I like to listen to Time and then let it go into Great Gig In the Sky. It is just so emotional and beautiful to me. |
Yeah, a lot of people really seem to love Great Gig..., so I wasn't going to say I'm not a fan, but I've just never been able to appreciate it. The womans vocals get right to me, but in the the absolute worst way possible. They almost make me cringe in places. Otherwise it's not a bad song, but that one downfall really destroys it for me.

I love the song. I don't mind the vocals in fact I like them, but one of my other favorite parts is the piano. I think Rick really shines on that song. |

I got the new Darkthrone there too  Not to metion all the other Pink Floyd I have. |
I got a nice sized Wish You Were Here poster for $5 today at the music shop on clearance :D
|
My library's great, I got the Minor Threat DVD there.
|
I haven't checked out the library's music section in a while. It's probably because I don't want to walk into the "teen zone" that most of the music is located in.
They had some Radiohead, Oasis, etcetera last time I checked. They also had Iron Maiden's Dance of Death. But that's all the appealing stuff there that I can remember. |
