Against Me! made a video and put it on myspace. It's kind of a joke video that in a not funny way explains why they changed label..
actually it isn't really saying anything... :( www.myspace.com/againstme
Yeah.. when I starting watching it (and I heard the question) I thought.. oh good lets see what they themselves have to say about this. I have heard the responces of about a million different fans, but never the actual band. Then they just played some dumb (Pretty unfunny) video. Kind of a cop out. |
Yeah it would be interesting to see them answer honestly. I think a lot of fans would like that.
|
I guess no one caught the Wayne's World joke?
|
I think the video was pretty funny. I think that even though they've sold out in terms of music, they're the same exact people, if that makes any sense. They are just playing by the rules.
That was never really my **** with them though, my **** is that they write horrible music now. |
When ym band sign to a major label I am going to use my fortune to do the most extravagant things ever. Our stage show is going to full on have dacners, pyrotechnics, and a flying part.
|
It's ironic that they don't give a **** about their fans anymore. It really makes me respect them. Oh wait...
|
I swear to God why hasn't ANYONE caught the Wayne's World joke?
|
Yes Kevin and like 3 people all ready commented them on it and we don't GIVE A ****.
|
I mean the people here who are acting like Against Me! made up a totally stupid video on their own.
|
It wasn't stupid though it was classy.
|
What's the joke?
I haven't seen Wayne's World. |
The entire video is a verbatim replica of a scene in Wayne's World, even down to the camera angles.
|
I thought it was quite funny. Makes me want to see the wayne's world thing you're talking about.
|
Who's the bald guy in the video? And where's James?

I Lost The Confidence To Write A Song So I Found 3 Simple Chords And I Held Them Together With My Weak Voice On An Out Of Tune Guitar My Father Gave To Me
|
Hey look at me, im posting in a AM! thread.
|
You look like I need a drink.
|
It was a birthday gift
Of a mexican Telecaster |
i was never really into that song like most others tbh.
|
Still a great line though.
'No i'm not ready to die just yeeeee-EEEEE-eeeeeee-tttt.' That's one of my favourite AM! lyrics, and the way it's sang makes it sound so triumphant. |
I think I've had an overdose of Against Me!
When I saw them in person, at a small club and I hugged there drummer. It was kind of like, "well this is as far as this band is going to get in my heart" Because, to me. When you listen to an album, you think "I'd love to see them" and then when you do "Man I've to meet them" and then you do. It's kind of like now what? I still love Crime, but I don't listen to Against Me! anymore, and it's hard to for some reason. 2 years ago they were by far in my top 5 of all time, but now it's just like. "Yeah, I saw them at a show once, it was cool" |
lol i agree.
|
I don't agree.
|
wait i agreed at the T.S.R thing.
I HOPE MA BODY CAN TAKE IT |
I would want to see Against Me! but they would probably be wearing Nike and that would piss me off.
|
Why is that?
|
Becasue Against Me! and Nike are two polar opposites.
|
lolz
|
Becasue Against Me! and Nike are too polar opposites.
I really like both Nikes and Against Me! so I'd be pretty happy at an Against Me! show. |
the waynes world joke wasnt funny. they totally avoided answering a sincere question. fans want a reason why AM! decided to sign to sire, not a lame joke. a lot of fans were hoping AM! could be the saviors of punk music, and are taking the sire deal very hard.
Im still gonna buy the new album, b/c maybe this will turn out to be a good thing. i mean, the Clash signing to CBS was considered selling out, but look what we wouldnt have if they hadnt? i just wish they took it a little more seriously coz i know kids who depended on this band so much. |
Hey, shut the fuck up. They don't owe you anything. You've all been little bitchy cunts about Sire since they did it. You havn't been giving them any respect, I don't see why they should anwser your questions.
|
hey, jackass, i just said i still like them, and i will be buying the new cd, and will be going to lots of future shows, i just wish they didnt dance around what, to a lot of people, is a serious issue. i dont care when bands sign to major labels, its their choice, but it would be nice if they offered some closure. it just hurts worse with against me! than it did with, say, Green Day or Bad Religion, because of AM!'s association with Anarchy and Anti-establishment.
|
Hey i can tell you right now why they did it.
A) Money B) Exposure It is either one of them, or both. Like every other band that has ever signed to a label bigger than the one they were on. If you couldn't tell that by their last album they they we're going for more radio-friendly sounds then you're retarded. Its been 8 years since Vida Vis and they've progressed with their music, as people, and apperantally as buisnessmen. People change, bands change, and they don't have the same ethics as they did when writing RAR as they do now. You can tell that from album to album. |

In RAR it says 'honesty and emotion are not looked down on here', so why doesn't AM! just be honest about why they signed to Sire. |
'With your thought in mind
I, walk the streets down to the shore and i sink into the pacific!!!' Some of the best AM! lyrics |
What song is that?
I agree with your first post. |
What song is that?
I agree with your first post.
Which post? My one about AM! answering the fans. It's from Beggining in an Ending. The disco EP is so good too. The most emotional 7 or 8 minutes on CD |
"If you wanna stay punk, you've gotta stay poor!" Against Me! signing to a major label affects my everyday life. |
"If you wanna stay punk, you've gotta stay poor!"
Against Me! signing to a major label affects my everyday life.
I wouldn't be surprised if it does to certain people. Against Me! meant something. Now they mean nothing. It's a huge let down and a real shame. Though I think the video was very classy, the fans deserve a straight forward answer for why they did this. I respect it because I think they're smart enough guys to realize that they would be missing out if they didn't do this. But still, it's a huge let down. They kept it real and this is so not real. |
Agaisnt Me! meant something to me because of what their music meant to me, not their business practices. I can still listen to Tonight We'll Give It 35% and other assorted songs that almost make me ****in' cry bevcause they affect me so much, but because they were on an independent label doesn't matter to me.
People should give Tom some room, we can't expect him to cater to our dreams forever. I'm glad Gainst Me! have gone on to a major label. They probably won't reach big time Fall Out Boy sucess (major labels have lots of 'failed' projects), but they deserve the money and newly found ease of life. |
