Hey, I finally got The Crusade the other day. Blown away. I like the Het-style singing better than the old screaming because it's more believable. It totally sounds like they're pissed. I mean, come on, who really screams/skwawks(like the old albums) when they're pissed.
I already noticed that Unrepentant sounds like Through The Never, but has anyone else noticed that To The Rats sounds like Dyers Eve? |

Yeah i actually did notice that. for a while i couldnt put my finger on it, but it does have a serious slayer feel to it. strange, not too bad though. |

For some reason one of the riffs from Unrepentant reminds me of Disturbed. Does anyone else agree? |

depends on which riff you are talking about. |
The one after Heafy sings "you take, you take their lives away" reminds me of Disturbed's Just Stop.
|
hmm..
I don't know. I don't really listen to Distrubed; just sounds like Trivium to me.. |
trivium are great. saw them this past saturday and they were kickass.

Mmmm Unrepentant . . . *swoon* |
hmm..
I don't know. I don't really listen to Distrubed; just sounds like Trivium to me..
I dont care for Disturbed, but Ive heard their singles on Scuzz. That part of Unrepentant just feels to me a bit like Disturbed's riffage - not ripping off Disturbed. Unrepentant has possibly the best solo on the Crusade. The album itself is pretty average in my eyes and a step down from Ascendancy, not that it isnt enjoyable. For me, the Crusade is 5.5/10, Ascendancy is about 7.5/10 and Ember To Inferno is a 6.5/10. |
hey guys,
yea, i need money... im selling my trivium drum head, £40, signed by the whole band. just advertising here before ebay. email me if interested / you want pics at highonthedownlow@googlemail.com it has been played by travis smith, and has some nice dents and sweat marks if you want his DNA... |
Going too see them in December with maiden.
Heard maiden arn't gonna play many classics though and just there new album. :[ |
that sucks ****...
im not seeing maiden this time round tho... |
^and that's a bad thing? The current set for this tour is absolutely killer live.
Perhaps even the best I've seen Maiden was on this tour. edit: to Irons rock, of course :) |
Is the new trivium albulm worth getting? I have ascendancy, and I like it.
|
Haha dont do that cos the ones on their myspace apart from Unrepentant are my least faves :p

|
Read my, ShadowsFallen, or MikeSN's review to get a good idea on the "bad" about the new album.

if you like Thrash, yes. |
if you like trash, yes.
fix'd |
It's a good album. People have got to stop being so fucking critical all the damn time. It's a good metal album.
|
Yeah, so I got bored...and when I get bored I record random riffs from songs I like.
http://media.putfile.com/Tread-The-Floods-Chorus-Riff There's the chorus to Tread The Floods, possibly one of my favorite parts of the entire album. :) EDIT: It's really short. EDIT #2: Crap I just realized I missed a note when double tracking the lead. Oh well... |
its not noticable, but yeah good job whatd you use for drums?
|
its not noticable, but yeah good job whatd you use for drums?
I used Acoustica Beatcraft. The snare, and ride were from Drumkit From Hell, the others were included with Beatcraft. BBE Sonic Maximizer makes drums sound a LOT better. |
i think if you read what trivium say about how they wrote this album, "music that we enjoy listening to", that's exactly what it is. there is alot of parts on the cd that make you go "hmm, that sounds a little bit like such and such band" and i think it works for them. I don't think they have really found their own sound, but I think they are getting closer. I know that when I personally write songs, every one sounds similar to some sort of band/song.
anyway, what i'm getting at is I think it's stupid for people to bash Trivium, yeah some parts may sound like other bands, but they are doing what they love to do, and i'm sure getting paid very nicely for it...and there fans love it. I personally like the new cd, it has a lot of catchy parts to it. I think there are some songs that are quite cheesy, but hopefully they will outgrow that. |
Bottom line: When you cannot write anything without copying another artists works, you suck. Plain and simple.
It works for them because of their kidiot following. You clone your favorite bands because you idolize dipfukks like Trivium, who do the same thing. Bottom, bottom line: They are massive Metallica fans and forgot to attach "cover band" along with their sleeve. |

It's a real mystery why he did it then.
|
I know, but I couldn't help it I had to say something :/
|
Well... the new trvium cd pwns and is definately worth buying.. there was one song that sounded like metallica.. and yes matts vocals were hetfield esque but that doesnt make it a bad album... the album is sweetzors

Yes they are massive metallica fans. yes a large proportion of there fan base are young. But that does not make them a bad band. personally i love the new album. Some bits may be a little cheesy ( gang vocal section to anthem ) and some bits may be a little hetfield-esque. but im starting to get annoyed with people saying theyre ripping off metallica. i can only think of the odd few bits of the album in which it sounds like metallica, and ive been listening to metallica since i was 6 before you say im a noob. I think people just see them as an easy band to hate on because there so young. when they released ascendancy it was too 'emo' or 'metalcore', now theyve ditched the screaming which is so overly used in metal today, there ripping off metallica. In the 80's most thrash metal bands sounded the same yet everyone still loved it. I think trivium are just making music they love and there fans love, and personally i think there far too talented as musicians to rip off any other artists work. /rant. :chug: |
Pople don't like Trivium because they suck ass and make shit music. :)
|
ive been on the fence about trivium, I feel that they are nowhere near as bad as naysayers claim or as good as fanboys do(go figure). But I cant stand some of the lyrics on the new album. Lines like "if you mess with my life, Ill mess with your blood" or "homophobia, racism, sexism etc." are just awful and the latter shows an utter lack of subtlety and seems like they are trying way to hard to "fight the good fight"
anyone else hate the lyrics? |

anyone else hate the lyrics?
I like them for the most part. I totally agree with you on To The Rats though. I love the song, but some of the lines in that song are a tad embarassing. I quite like Ignition/Detonation though. Fighting the good fight, even if it means swaying one way then another, isn't a bad idea. People like to hear that, and it's fun to sing along to things like that. Becoming the Dragon was a nice surprise lyrically. That and Ignition/Detonation are probably my favorite on the album lyrically. |
The show tonight was in-****ing-sanity:smoke:
oh and use teh almighty capital "I" next post. ty sir
If you're going to criticise someone's grammar, then you might want to start your own sentences with capitals and end them with full stops. Just a thought. |
