Doesn't The Jam Session have like an all-encompassing "screaming" thread? Sheesh.

The last couple days at work I've been reviewing a website that we're putting money towards getting built.

I've been asked to go through it and check that the service outcomes in the orginal funding agreement have been met.

It's a bloody good looking website tho.
I can't find much wrong with it (only one minor issue).

It's not the website alone that's good tho; there's the planning behind it, the usability and accessibility testing that it has been through, the infrastructure behind it, the mareting of it, the ongoing support of it, etc.
Amazing.
From what I've seen, it looks well worth the four million we're paying.

I thought you guys made websites for other people?
I thought you guys made websites for other people?
We do make a few.
But there's only three of us in our team.
So for the really big sites, we get others to do.

This one I've been looking at is well beyond anything I'll be able to manage.

Trigger_003 03-28-2006 03:59 AM

Sounds great Gav. Haha, I'd never get away with that.
And bummer for you Simon.

Chris: Only 3? Oh wait, three people doing your kinda job... gotcha.
4mil is... woah. What kinda site is this? Sounds pretty big-time anyway.

We (AYB again) were on TV yesterday, and on ABC/channel 9 news quite a few times too. Hehe :).

Aes820 03-28-2006 04:43 AM

I know.. 4 mil made me go 'woah' as well.
It's a parenting information website.
Lots of bells and whistles.
raisingchildren.net.au

And about the going out all night thing. You should try it Trea.
And watch your folks really flip out.
But it'll put things into comparison for them. If you know what i mean?

Eg. On Friday night some kids in their mid teens set fire to a school just up the road from my place. We were sitting around having a few drinks and a barbie and we could smell it.
Now you don't do stuff like that do you?

Trigger_003 03-29-2006 03:23 AM

Alright, nice.

That's so totally something I'd do.
Nah, that's just.... I don't know why they do it.

Haha they would totally flip out if I went partying or something as an all-nighter. Almost as much as the volunteer from Canada who was at the mountain bike event - we were telling about dropbears and some random overhearing the conversation rustled the tree behind him .

Aes820 03-29-2006 03:52 AM

Haha. That's great stirring up the tourists.

We had a Danish exchange student staying with friends of ours several years back. We were telling him to keep an eye out for dropbears, then a few days later he got swooped and thought one had got him.

We said nah.. it was just a magpie. If it was a dropbear he wouldn't be alive to tell us about it.

Diatonic Dissonance™ 03-29-2006 05:56 AM

Hey Trea.. what's that [LOTE] term for when a piece in a minor key modulates to the parallel major for the finish?

It's like pierce de taci or something.. can't remember :(.

aria8789464 03-29-2006 06:16 AM

um heloo gaf gaf

KKKKKocaine 03-29-2006 05:38 PM

HAHAHAH!
Oh my God!

I found THE funniest myspace printscreen ever.

This is a guy I know and kicked out of my band because he said he could play grade 7 drums but could barely manage a grade 1 beat in time. He also lied about having cancer and all kinds of stuff. So I feel it's only fair I get to rip on him for THE stupidest thing ever.

I love printscreen and paint.

KKKKKocaine 04-05-2006 03:07 AM

The psyciatrist put my meds up :( now I have to feel ill for a few days whilst my body adjusts :(

Diatonic Dissonance™ 04-08-2006 02:29 AM

Holy crap the best thing happened on Thursday.

So I had period one off, so I got up to school and went to see if my friend wanted my help in music group 3/4 and he didn't so I got a room with a piano in it and there are two rooms next to eachother and in one of them this guy was teaching, so I went into the other room and played with the soft pedal on so as to not disturb him.

So after a while I decide that I'll bust out just once quickly without the soft pedal so I played Chopin's Revolutionary Etude and I heard a door open and footsteps and I was like "oh no.. he's going to tell me to turn it down" and he knocks on the door 'cause it was locked and I look up and he's like giving me the thumbs up with this big grin on his face and he's like "that's awesome!" and I thank him and he goes to turn off and he's like "I don't know why you don't learn from this school you really should" and stuff like that so I get up and talk to him about lessons and stuff and he's like "you have to let me teach you!" and I'm like "awesome!".

Now, here's the special part:

This guy is, like, amazing. I quote:
Jeremy began piano lessons at the age of five, achieved his A.Mus.A in 1991, and furthered his studies through the Bachelor of Music Performance degree at the Victorian College of the Arts. His teachers have included Michael Harvey, the late Keith Humble and Donna Coleman. He has won over 70 first prizes and major scholarships in competitions, and in 1998 gained a distinction in his Licentiate Piano Exam - later receiving the Kault Piano Prize for the best result in a diploma level piano exam.

Jeremy has appeared as a soloist and associate artist in the Port Fairy Music Festival and numerous other recitals and concert series. He also recorded Mark Pollard's "a handful of rain" (1995) for ABC Radio in 1996. He is a sought after accompanist and in 1999 won both the Bill Burrell Scholarship for piano accompaniment and the Alan McArthur Memorial Award for the best voice and piano ensemble performance in the 18th National Liederfest.

Jeremy has a very busy performance schedule with the Victorian Chamber Musicians, and as an accompanist and soloist at various recitals and concerts. He is currently employed as Musical Director of the Victorian Boys' Choir, and piano teacher at both Blackburn High School and Caulfield Grammar School. He recently completed the Master of Music Performance course at the Victorian College of the Arts and is studying for a Graduate Diploma of Education through Monash University.
It made me so happy because people have to audition to get lessons from him because he's so special and he taught "that Asian guy" and everything. I'm so excited!

 I don't get it but it's still funny. You're an odd one Gav0n. Do you have any recordings to send me?

Anyway, I'm fed up of waiting for an answer in the music theory thread, someone please tell me what function Ab fulfils in the key of C, is it a secondary dominant or something?

maybe your newfound agnosticism comes from your happy pills? :D

Does anybody know if the harmonica on the canned heat song "on the road again" is a special minor pentatonic harmonica or faultless bending?

Oh.. that was more directed at Trea and Ben.

There's this freak Asian guy that played like the Grieg Concerto in Am when he was 16 and stuff... mega freak-pianist.

And no I don't, sorry.

Aes820 04-09-2006 01:21 AM

You know that book that I was working on before, doing the typesetting and the designing of the cover of?
It's all printed and published now. I even scored a free copy.
It looks pretty good.

Ab isn't in the key of C, so if you see it, it probably is a member of a secondary-dominant/secondary-leading tone chord. But alone, it has no function, except maybe a chromatic passing tone.
A single note can't serve a harmonic function such as secondary dominant... though it can be a part of one.

Diatonic Dissonance™ 04-11-2006 03:09 AM

Guys I think Trea's dead.

Alive 04-11-2006 10:17 AM

Don't worry, she'll be reincarnated as Trea the White with some more instrumental skills.

Trigger_003 04-13-2006 04:01 PM

^ Hehe, sorry for the absence guys. Just been so busy lately :(.

Haha yeah that was insane. Damn your school with its awesome sounding music program.
That's great news Gav! Simon's right - we need recordings :p.

Guess what? Our band was so loved at the Davis Cup that we got invited to do on-court/in-the-stands entertainment at the Australian Open as well. That's like... woah!
/is psyched

What's everyone getting up to for Easter? We've got a couple of consecutive gigs so we're doing an overnighter for that - yay.

Trigger_003 04-18-2006 03:21 AM

Woot for sticky.

Hello? Anyone?

Aes820 04-18-2006 04:00 AM

Hi Trea.
Yeah. I stickied it.
You on holidays now?

Trigger_003 04-18-2006 03:53 PM

Coolio.

Nah. We had ours earlier this year (first term was only 6 weeks long, this one's 12 :/ ), so we only got a long weekend. How was your easter? Manage to get away at all?

Aes820 04-18-2006 04:16 PM

Nope. I stayed local during Easter.
I've been working on my front yard again, plus have also been doing the odd little private job to make myself a few dollars on the side of the usual 9 to 5 thing.
I typeset and did the cover design for that book, finished off a CD Rom application thing on Monday, and am starting another website probably this week.
So I am keeping myself busy.

Those consecutive gigs were for the AYB, right?
How'd they go?
