This. Anything past Goremaggedon is utter failure

Their new material is so boring and uninspired it makes me sad :(
But Goremageddon is good enough to make up for it.
I heard one song, i wouldnt call it DM by a long shot ..
Destroying the Vile Red Falcon.

Which is also the dumbest song title i've heard in a long time.

i am the robots 07-15-2007 03:24 PM

....

It's a song about Contra, The Red Falcon is a terrorist organization that you fight against, it's a side scroller/run and gun arcade game.

How's that song not DM? I don't understand what makes a band death metal or not anymore, the definition's seemed to change in the past 3 weeks.

The definitiion of Death Metal has not changed in the past three weeks. It's the stupid kids on this forum who consider themselves "elite" that have changed it.

You'll notice, anywhere else in the real world, the definition of DM is the same. It's amazing how self-absorbed this forum has become.

TojesDolan 07-15-2007 05:25 PM

It hasn't.
The definitiion of Death Metal has not changed in the past three weeks.
100% correct. bands such as Devourment and Job for a Cowboy were never death metal in the first place; just becuase people here thought they were and then I had to come set them straight doesn't entail a change in the definition.

TojesDolan 07-15-2007 05:33 PM

It was just clarified and reinforced by those who actually know about the subject.

Ralph Santolla is going to work with Obituary
Obituary guitarist Allen West has been imprisoned for undisclosed offences. "I have gotten into trouble that can only be resolved by my incarceration," reads his official statement. "My release is scheduled for February 2008. I will not let this problem kill my spirit and will use it to sharpen my creativity. Hope to see all of you next year."

It is rumoured that West was arrested for drunk driving. If so, this is reportedly his fifth such arrest. In his absence, the band have recruited Deicide guitarist Ralph Santolla to assist with guitars on their new album and forthcoming tour. "There has been a lot of speculation about what we were going to do for another guitarist now that Allen West is unavailable," state the band on their website. "We have known Ralph for a long time and it is no surprise how good of a guitar player he is, but what was really nice is how good we work with each other and how good we get along. Not only is Ralph recording with us, but he will also be going with us to Europe in July and on our US tour in September."

Meanwhile, in a nod to their early days the band have confirmed "Xecutioner's Return" as the title of their forthcoming seventh album. Xecutioner is the name Obituary traded under prior to their 1989 debut, 'Slowly We Rot'. The album is set for a September release through Candlelight Records.
No, you're one hundred percent wrong with that notion. I'm sorry.

Explain to me what it is that makes these bands that you don't like, "not death metal."
Ralph Santolla is going to work with Obituary
Seems like a great fit. James Murphy makes Cause of Death, and I think Ralph could do the same for Obituary's next.

ok. devourment is non stop slam riffz played over blastbeats with gay breakdowns. Death metal does not use slam riffz or gay breakdownz.

Job for a Cowboy has brees, wigger nintendocore riffs, and gay breakdownz, none of which are death metal.

i am the robots 07-15-2007 05:51 PM

Okay, breakdowns have nothing to do with genre, whatsoever, so throw that notion out the window.

Also, a band doing a type of vocals also doesn't define the genre.

Also, wigger nintendocore riffs? JFAC isn't anything near the "nintendocore" garbage, I hate that shit too, but I can at least differentiate.

Dargon II 07-15-2007 05:52 PM

ok kid, what is it that makes Job for a Cowboy death metal then?

TojesDolan 07-15-2007 05:54 PM

Vocals, apparently.

The fact that every other band they sound remotely like plays death metal?

Totenkrieg 07-15-2007 05:57 PM

not good enough, try again

i am the robots 07-15-2007 05:58 PM

I'm just gonna say, I'm closer to being right in saying that these bands are death metal, cause you morons think they're some form of hardcore.

Invicta_Veritas 07-15-2007 05:59 PM

The fact that every band, magazine, organisation, musician, fan, and everything else in the world (and genre) considers them death metal highly overrides the opinion of a few kids on MX.

Dargon II 07-15-2007 05:59 PM

no, they're gangsta rap mixed with emo.

BRA: argumentum ad populus. it's a logical fallacy. You lose.

pwned.

Shattered_Future 07-15-2007 06:05 PM

I don't know much about death metal, but JFAC don't sound remotely like death metal to me.

Invicta_Veritas 07-15-2007 06:06 PM

They sure as hell aren't hardcore
