They aren't always that straight-forward though. Bloodmeat and Bone Marrow are the most story-driven with their east Asian historical fiction but like, Palms Read is almost totally abstract.

And Spoils, it talks mostly about abstract concepts like ineffability and the futility of language. For those of you who don't know: Ineffability-To say that something is that cannot or should not be expressed in spoken words (such as with the concept of true love or a religious taboo). Proof: "Every word that's ever written will fall short of its intent. Even spoke or sung or screamed it will betray what they have meant" and "Language is the heart's lament, a weak attempt to circumvent the loneliness inherent in the search for permanence." I don't even have to break down, its written so plainly. Any feeling or thought ever conceived loses some of its original meaning when it is conveyed to someone else because you can't make anyone feel and think exactly what you do. |
I think the killing God thing was just a random thought developing from the line from No Stars Over Bethlehem about plunging a dagger into God's chest and marveling at the damage it could create.
The Goddess killing theory came simply from the last track being titled "Goddess Gagged." |
It's not a theory if you haven't even read the lyrics.
|
I've read them, I just haven't looked into them and examined every aspect of what each phrase means.
|
I got Calculated Use Of Sound the other day. I haven't put it on my iPod yet though. What should I expect?
|
Back then they still played punk rock and had passion. Expect that.

Oh snap! Somebody aint gonna like that. |
They're still pretty passionate but yeah. Expect raw, young post-hardcore/punk with really annoying but fitting vocals and surprisingly tight instrumentation considering their youth. If you got the re-release, which I guarantee you did, expect "Soft Targets" to sound random and out of place. This is because it is random and out of place and should not have been put in that place on the re-release (or on the re-release at all).

Oh ok thanks. |
seeing these guys in 2 hours 30 minutes
|
Kattun, seeing your edit. Set your timezone in the User CP. Derp.
|
Sounds like you'll have fun for 40 minutes and then writhe in pain for whatever duration the other bands play for.
|
Would it be possible for someone to send me the instrumental version of Fortress? I have a friend who says he loves the riffs but isn't a fan of the screaming and I told him I'd try and get the instrumental version.
Ellman.Ben at gmail.com Please and thank you. |
Meh protest was alright but dam rody is boring, that aside the sound of the venue sucked
they opened with a 30 min set..so don;t expect much, they might had huge moshpits going in canada but in US well at this show they were basically nothing. there was like only 15/300-400 people who actually went with them including me...a moshpit started and ended within 4 seconds.....rody talked about using death metal vocals during intercourse and he licked some panties that was thrown on the stage A day to remember came next..and OHHHH MAN THE SCENE KIDS GOT CRAZY protest didnt even have securite guards..but the guards came in for ADTR..one guard couldnt even enjoy himself cause he knew all the words but he had to control the crowd surfing during the whole set... I had to go after that cause burger king was calling me...Oh ya I saw arif..I tried to think of a good conversation starter like WDF does dissentience mean but meh I am thinking he is prob tired of questions related to music oh ya i bought a hard copy to fortress for 5 bucks from timba.....ya that about it.... |
rody is the most boring frontman evah
what?
dissentience
1. dissenting, esp. from the opinion of the majority. –noun 2. a person who dissents. |
ya i guess that first quote was over the top I guess i expected to much from them
|
If they opened (which is insulting to them) it's no wonder it wasnt amazing. You expect a great set when the crowd is still filing in?
|
How does a band like Protest end up opening? That's sacrelige.
|
It's like why bands like Unexpect end up opening for Nile. More exposure. If they tour with shitty bands, 9 times out of 10 those shitty bands have large (especially for metal) fanbases.
Then again, when we saw Unexpect open for Trail Of Tears, all 12 of us there were for Unexpect. So I suppose those die hard fans do show up. |
Showing up is one thing but getting in on time is another.
|
I got around to watching the Bloodmeat music video again.
Its so hilarious. I love the song |
I don't really see why it's hilarious
|
Oh hey look, Tyler is posting his OPINYUNZ in a PTH thread.
The film clip is pretty funny tbh, Rody's haircut is hard to take seriously. |
well yeah but that whole outfit started as a joke when he asked some stylist to make him look like justin timberlake, it's still an awesome video other than rody's super gay catwalk strut
|
He didn't say it wasn't good, just that it was funny.
LEARN TO READ K? |
and I dont see why it's hilarious
|
Rody's air humping and general gayness is what's funny, the clip is still awesome and so is the song. Are people not allowed to say anything bad about PTH without you starting world war IX?
|
Did I start WWIX? Stop being such a gigantic faggot, I just said I don't see why the video is hilarious. How is anyone saying it is even bad?
|
I'm pretty sure anyone that's read your ridiculously persistent defence of PTH knows that you take pretty much any criticism of the band and argue with the person who says it until they agree with you.
I'm not going to bother arguing with you, because you will win and you have a bigger vocabulary and you actually contribute to discussions, but seriously now. |
