Well I looked around and there doesn't seem to be any discussion thread about ratm. They are easily one of my favorite bands, and I thought we could use this thread to talk about them.

I'll start off with a simple subject: favorite album?

For me it would have to be self titled, for sure.
I don't really have one but I love them. Too bad they broke up :/

Static 09-25-2005 05:32 PM

BoLA>RAtM>EE>R

Darkness 09-25-2005 05:37 PM
They are more mainstream though. They get played alot on the radio, and how many times have you actually heard a RATM song other than Guerilla Radio on the radio? I've heard the Ghost of Tom Joad once and thats it.
I've heard a lot of the singles on the radio. Like People of the Sun and Bulls on Parade. Audioslave is simply more radiofriendly.

They gradually got worse IMO, BUT the first 3 are still really close and are all classics. I just listened to BOLA for the first time in one year... good stuff. Tom is such a wicked player. Ashes in the Fall is still my favorite off that cd..

Static 09-25-2005 08:16 PM

Definately, when he starts whacking off the whammy bar...classic.

I wouldn't call it a classic because not too many people know about it, but it is still awesome.

I just found RATM's four album for sale. S/T, EE, BOLA and Renegades. I am getting them today, for like $40. Score..:) They had the live at Grand A for sale too...but only the CD, I would prefer getting the DVD. ;)

I can't pick which one I like the most. Selft Titled and BOLA are pretty much tired.

I meant classic as in RATM classic, not music in general.

Ahhhh, I see. I still don't think it's even a RATM classic because I've never heard about them playing it at a show before. A real RATM classic would be something like Killing in the Name, Sleep Now in the Fire, Bulls on Parade, Freedom, etc.

Darkness 09-29-2005 05:14 PM

Ashes has been played live once, in London. I have the bootleg, not very good quality, but still good. I also have a Darkness (Of Greed) bootleg of when they play in a small record shop in 91. Pretty rare..

 It's a classic in my mind.

Same... assumeing were still talking about Ashes in the fall.

Static 09-29-2005 05:22 PM

Yes, we are.

Well I guess you can think that, because I think Wind Below is a classic. That song is just so perfect in every way. :D

Darkness 09-29-2005 05:52 PM

Another one of my favorites.

Thor 09-29-2005 05:57 PM

Yeah, Wind Below is the best song on EE by a longshot.

Personally, that's one of my least favorite RATM songs ever. Wait a minute....Are you Metal_Head_617 with a name change?

ibanez_line6 09-30-2005 03:15 AM

i havent heard any songs on evil empire, is it as good as the self titled or battle of los angeles

Apocalyptic Raids 09-30-2005 03:19 AM

I rate it just below the self-titled, and above BOLA.
