if thats telling me what I think it is, that would be contradicting your point that drugs and alcohol help music?
Rest makes perfect sense
Yes, i do feel to an extent that drugs and alcohol, (More drugs) can accually have a positive effect on your making music, Not so much at live gigs, or during the recording process, But as far as the writing and creating of the songs go.. |
In all fairness it would make logical sense, I mean, Kirk was suffering drug abuse in load, and especially reload, look at the guitaring in them, they are not as in your face i find, Its almost if he has turned the guitar down below everyone, specially on Reload... This is in comparison to earlier albums..
Also now jaymes has cleaned up the beer and drugs more, look what has happened to lyrics... To be honest it seems most of the bands from that era that were any good were the drunk, drugged bands.... To an extent
well that isnt neccicarily true.megadeths last album is pretty good and dave wrote it clean, now,i think that metallica can pull it together for at least 2 more albums and the lyric quality can still be good, with solos |

Ya but your post seems to contradict itself. On one hand your saying drugs screwed up Kirks guitaring. And your saying (I agree with this) that alcohol/drugs fueled james lyrics. Either you unknowingly disapproved or questioned your own point, or I did not read it properly. |

I feel it fuelled Jaymez song writing abillities.. However i feel it eroded at kirks song writing abillities, But i suppose all of our bodies react to these substances differently |

Not all :thumb:
Na, I disagree. 60's + 70's + 80's are the drug decades, yet only the artists in the 80's seemed to be any good. I think that the bands just got better coincidently. Drugs play a minor affect, it lets them be more open-minded and curious in their lyrical stage. The rest is just skill, no excuses there. |

Kirk is a good performer, not a good song writer.... He should have been a jazz artist, he always makes up riffs that are so bluesy etc (eg. riff from when they talk about his guitars in Cunning Stunts, overuse of wah-wah and bending of guitar strings). I don't think even drugs can help him in metal |

Bearing in mind though there was a lot of musical influences that came upon bands in the 80's, also the improvements and availibillity of recording, and musical equipment grown a lot in the early 80's |

Thats just sound quality. The music got better, I doubt people just liked them more because the amps got bigger. |

Not just sound quality, I know from my grandad lol he used to have a ''portable'' sterio player, its like a meter long lol, He said he was the most popular guy around because of it, he was the only one in the area with one. Just shows what musical equipment was like, They may have loved the music, Its just listening to it thats difficult... Also, it was alot easier to get record contracts in the 80's, Companies started working out that alot of money could be earned from bands like these.... And now, well record companies now are just greedy and unfair Well i am out all its 12:50am, Take care *Metallica Rule 4 ev@* Byee all  |

Now with downloading and multimillion dollar mainstream artist flops, its gonna be very hard to trust musicians. It'll get better I'm sure once theres a replacement for pop and hip hop. |

Oh yea, its almost certain it will get better, The metal bands will start flowing again soon... I think it will probably be in the next 3 or so months personally, With Metallica touring soon, ect: it will attract a lot of attention to the Metal scene. Also encouraging new bands. And by then coincidentally or not, Hip hop/Pop ect: will have fizzled out! |

you fuking noob, your a idiot. Drugs do nothing to your musical skill except **** you up. . . You do get slightly more creative but you can reach the same level of creativeness when you dont take any drugs, and you fell better for it and it is considerably cheeper. Drugs aint good man there the road to death |

I hate drugs/alcohol and crap like that, but even I can understand that experiencing things, good or bad, can be used as good influences for writing music. |
what are you trying to say?
that you,my friend,are a nOOb :thumb: |
How was that in the slightest hard to understand?
Sometimes, when your writing music, and you want to reach a certain state of mind, or you need to experience something to reflect on it with your music, you need to go through with it yourself. Drugs and Alcohol addiction for an example are one of the things. |
