My area is a weird one, there are a lot of chavs and emo/indy folk in my city, there are a few core metalheads and we all seem to know each other somehow and most are elitist pigs, so only like Metallica and 'heavier' bands.
I can't believe one of the metal chaps laughed at me for liking Clapton! |
I was just thinking. Would Steve ever pick up a fretless bass?
If he was a bit younger, I reckon so, but he is set in his ways now I reckon. I doubt he'll try it :upset: |
Imagine if he did.
I would forsee amazing things for the new album. |
I love fretless basses so much. He needs to use one... now.
|

Sadly i have to agree with this. He barely even uses any bass apart from his white one. A fretless would be awesome though. |
in one of the studio diaries, i'm sure there's a picture where he's using an acoustic bass. i saved it somewhere, i'm gonna check.
EDIT: because i'm lazy, and can't be arsed to set up an image-bucket thingymajig, here's a ysi link to the pic. http://s57.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2E5FN7QMAHHGY3O9OU1ETAEYJO mmm...acoustic bass... what songs has he previously used one on? |
The Clansman, Blood Brothers and The Journeyman are the only ones I can think of now.
|

I don't remember seeing him use it on Blood Brothers in RiR:confused: |
i think he used a regular bass for Journeyman on the DoD tour, although i'm most likely wrong...
but the studio is acoustic, i guess. |

Crap, maybe I'm wrong then. I thought he did. |

i haven't seen the dvd of DotR, and i don't remember seeing him use one when i was there, but i couldn't see too well at that point.
|
Want to borrow it?
|
i suppose i could do. this week isn't too good (exam tomorrow and wednesday, gf's wednesday and friday night) but i suppose i could get it back to you after the weekend.
|
Aye, just whatever, I'm not really gonna be watching it over that time.
|
ok, that's sweet. you might not see me 'til tomorrow afternoon, at which point i will be stressed / pissed off / upset about having just failed an exam.
|
Alright, we may be able to repair to a Public House for you to drown your sorrows
|
i have lessons in the afternoon :-/ and i need to write my prep for wednesday's exam. although i may be drunk anyway, i'm taking my hip flask so i can relax a bit :p
|
I think he did use an acoustic on journeyman live.
Gives me a reason to put DOTR on :D |
Crap, maybe I'm wrong then. I thought he did.
Studio version sounds like an electric to me, but then agian i could be wrong. Anyway, on the the fretless topic. I believe steve would use one, hes already experimented in so many other things its hard to believe he wouldnt at least try one out. Meh, i really wouldnt care either way. |
What's the difference in sound?

Maiden had some good stuff back in the day and their vocals kicked a$$ so,....all i have to say is that Cradle of filth did them some honor with there covers of stuff like Hallowed be thy name and the trooper

na. i don't like many IM covers. the Kids Of Boredom did an awful trooper cover too. the only covers i like are the Arch Enemy ones and the Iced Earth ones. |
Cradle of Filth did not cover the trooper, nor Fear of the dark.
|
They covered HBTN did they not? Speaking of Maiden covers, I need to hear Opeth's version of Remember Tomorrow.
|
Cradle of Filth did not cover the trooper, nor Fear of the dark.
i wouldn't know... i just assumed that had they cover any IM it would be abysmal. which would follow the suit of their own work, IMO. |

The only covers I like are Johnny Cash's version of Hurt by NIN, Fenix TX (I think) who did a punk cover of Barbie Girl by Aqua, and anything by Hayseed Dixie. |
Johnny Cash's version of Hurt is really good. I also like Tool's No Quarter and AFI's cover of NIN's Head Like A Hole.
