War of Razors is awesome. Some parts of Towards Dead End (studio version) remind me of some Irish bar song or something
I like the vocals on Bed Of Razors better on Tokyo Warhearts.
They are the best band i've ever heard/seen live.

Didn't I send that to you on MSN or something(Tokyo Warhearts)?

They use to be pretty sloppy live judging from some videos I have seen. It is good news that they worked on that. One day, I will see them live.

Yes, I believe you emailed it to me via yousendit.

Alexi didn't make any mistakes when I saw CoB. The whole was perfect. His vocals were even good.

circlethedrain 04-23-2006 03:50 PM

If they ever come back around to the greater New York area I will see them.

Yes they played perfect at my show too...except for one part at the beginning of he show he played a bad note.
CoB + Trivium + Amon Amarth = metalgasm

MRDuCran 04-23-2006 05:06 PM

Pplayed well at my show too. I noticed the Sixpounder solos mainly.

Trivium was horrid. Matt couldn't sing for shit. His "singing" & "screams" were just a utter mess. Matt & Corey both made a lot of mistakes on guitar riffs/solos.

Corey far more than Matt did.

Corey would hit bad notes, try to cover by quickly muting the note or a pinch harmonic.

MRDuCran 04-23-2006 06:09 PM

Someone told me at the gig he went to (Trivium), Matt did a guitar solo and it was amazingly fast and stupidly accurate etc etc. *rolls eyes* x 10000000?

yer btw, alexi pisses on trivum bitch

Drunken Viking 04-23-2006 06:40 PM

A lot of people who have seen him have told me he is really sloopy live.

Forlorn Hope 04-23-2006 06:54 PM

Matt is insanely sloppy live. In fact, I think the bassist and drummer were the only ones that weren't. I like Trivium a lot but they are indeed horrible live. I'm still glad I saw them though...just because.
And yes...Children Of Bodom>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Trivium.

MRDuCran 04-23-2006 07:17 PM

There's this "sweep" thing they do at the beginning of each video they do together, argh it's so back. It's not accurate, it's not clean, they down't even use upstrokes. It's down, down, down, (unevenly) then a quick hammer pull off and repeat. I have the Jn edition of Young Guitar and Matt jsut gets on my nerves on it so much. He hogs the spotlight showing of his (sh!tty) bending and vibrato techniques, when Corey is just sitting there, doing nothing, when his solos are better. But he's really shy judging from that video, Matt's the opposite.

MRDuCran 04-23-2006 08:50 PM

Anyway, enough about Trivium.

I recorded another bunch of Bodom stuff. Check it out:

Towards Dead End was pretty impressive. How did you do that nifty whammy bar trick right before the verse?

MRDuCran 04-23-2006 09:10 PM

Um, I think I hit the open A and D strings, and depressed with the bar, then hit another harmonic, on the 3rd fret G string and pulled the bar up and let go again.

I'm Charming 04-23-2006 09:35 PM

Mitch = god

haha. This is very impressive.

I seriously feel like I'm listening to CoB, not Mitch.

What amp do you use?

MRDuCran 04-24-2006 04:10 AM

Thank you for the comments Dylan.

Julianne - I don't use my amp to record, it's actually a KORG Pandora PX4 effect unit.

Although I did mic up my amp for the "Sixpounder 2" thing.

This is it:

MRDuCran 04-24-2006 10:30 AM

I watched the Nosturi gig today at college.
It's pretty good. It's the first time I've ever seen Alexi's hair wet and **** during a gig, usually it's bone dry and perfectly straight.

The set was pretty much the same as when I saw them so no suprises. I think Alexi's playing was average, some well palyed stuff, some improvised crap.
I'm disappointed they didn't really focus on the keyboard solo on Living Dead Beat, since I transcribed that the other week, I wanted to see him play it.
I asked my friend to learn it today, he said he will but he won't be able to play it full speed.
Watching Alexi play the solo to "Bunch" Me I Bleed, it inspired me to learn it, since I think I'll be able to play it pretty well and it sounds cool, I've always thought that since I first heard it. But I gotta write a 32 bar string quartet (4 instruments) in 2 days so I don't think I should learn it yet.
It's also a shame they didn't show a guitar/key battle thing, I was hoping for that. I think they played one for that gig though. On the US tour they're on now, they're not doing it, which sucks for some people. They won't do it on the Unholy Alliance tour either since their setlist will only be like 30-60 minutes. I'm certainly looking forward to this DVD, I was thinking today after remembering reading on their site that it's their first so there's going to be loads of extras and cool stuff, what if they put subtitles on for the lyrics!!! That would rule, official lyrics straight from Laiho himself. They've asked people to send them videos and rare bootlegs and whatnot so they can stick that on there too, I'm gonna watch this so many times.
OK I'm done, I have no idea why I wrote so much, I have done so recently, who knows.

repcak 04-24-2006 10:54 AM

congratulations, lucky one! :thumb:

but tell me, where did they played? on your college? was it a normal show or special gig?

MRDuCran 04-24-2006 11:07 AM

lol noooo

Children of Bodom didn't play at my college, I watched it at college on video google. If he did, I would have stolen him and taken him home. :)

repcak 04-24-2006 11:09 AM

aaaah... i understand

... i would rather stole his guitar, not him :thumb:

edit: me is downloading video from google.com :D thanks

MRDuCran 04-24-2006 11:12 AM

Yeah good point, I'm sure he has enough o those RV's to keep him going. He doesn't use his Arrowhead one anymore, so I'd take that, plus it's my fav.

circlethedrain 04-24-2006 11:39 AM

MRDuCran nice job on the Avenged Sevenfold and the CoB, your sweeping was nice and clean, the songs had some mistakes but I thought over all they were really good.

repcak 04-24-2006 11:43 AM

i just listen to it.... the arpeggios in "towards dead end" well played. :thumb: very clean and smooth!

MRDuCran 04-24-2006 11:48 AM
MRDuCran nice job on the Avenged Sevenfold and the CoB, your sweeping was nice and clean, the songs had some mistakes but I thought over all they were really good.
Thanks to both. What songs were you talking about when you said mistakes?

circlethedrain 04-24-2006 11:53 AM

In Towards Dead End after the arppegios the first note or two seem weird but i think soundclick slowed down your playing on me.

MRDuCran 04-24-2006 11:57 AM

Oh, well I should mention that my pc isn't great so there's jumps and stuff in there, I think it is TDE actually where's there's that massive £"$*&£$(£"&$* in the middle somewhere, it's because of the low amount of RAM my pc has, it slows down even more when I press record. To be honest, I don't think I hit any wrong note's in that take, except the end bit where it's just the guitar so I cut that bit off and faded it out. :p.
