Illmatic 07-25-2005 12:54 AM

Well, I obviously prefer in person as well but I'm in Chicago and she's in California, so that's not an option.

And since when did you have a girlfriend? When did this happen?

ATM 07-25-2005 12:55 AM

Ray, let me know when you are ready to do it then.

Permanent Solution 07-25-2005 12:56 AM

Haha, yeah, that's no fun at all, we'll have to figure out that in a month :-\

Since umm...tonight actually, though we were doing stuff since last Sunday. Recent development :)

Attaboy Vince!

/pat on the back that seems condescending but isn't

Where does she go to school anyhow?

And yeah, since we're enrolled in different schools at [the same] college we don't see each other all that often. But we do have weekends and those rare afternoons/evenings where both of us have time to kill ;)

Haha, thanks.

She'll be going to Loyola in Chicago, but she's a year younger.

We'll be in different states, so we might or might not keep going, depends on this month, thus far we're really clicking, so it's great.

Illmatic 07-25-2005 01:05 AM

It [it = being in a relationship/in love, maybe it's too soon to say that about you and her but it is not too early to say it about me and my gf] certainly is great, maybe this is why you've mellowed out/lightened up (unless you haven't, in which case I just look like an idiot).

Permanent Solution 07-25-2005 01:12 AM

Yeah, not in love yet assuredly, but I do like her a lot. Very musically oriented :D

That's not the only cause, but it's one of several. Being with lots of family, especially younger cousins, while on vacation in Seattle also affected me a lot and made me a lot more into family for sure. I definitely feel lightened up though :)

Illmatic 07-25-2005 01:19 AM

That's what it'll do for you. I've been up (with a few lapses) for the past 7 or 8 months (which is how long I've been seeing her) and I've been up since I've been here.

Permanent Solution 07-25-2005 01:25 AM

Haha, well good, maybe I can stop being resident cliche emo fag for a bit :p

ATM 07-25-2005 01:26 AM

My girlfriend and I have been together for almost 3 years, with just one rough patch that only lasted about 2 weeks.

Moses 07-25-2005 01:28 AM

I've been with my gf for 6 and a half months. No rough patches yet. It was already on that spiritual level in like 2 months. I think I'm going to ask her to marry me.....

Illmatic 07-25-2005 01:28 AM
Haha, well good, maybe I can stop being resident cliche emo fag for a bit :p
I think for a brief time I actually took that role :-\

The "rough patches" for me and my gf last like, a day. If that.

Permanent Solution 07-25-2005 01:29 AM
My girlfriend and I have been together for almost 3 years, with just one rough patch that only lasted about 2 weeks.
That's a really long time. If you guys are together through college that'll be 6 years

Ray: I think I remember that...but it's ok, those dark days are behind us :)

Illmatic 07-25-2005 01:32 AM

Me and my girlfriend are actually kind of "lame"

We both had a crush on each other for a while, we both started going out in our freshman year in college, and we get along real great. It's boring  I love every minute of it, though.

ATM 07-25-2005 01:33 AM

The crazy thing is, that doesn't freak me out.

I can't see myself being with anyone else.

/wow I sound lame tonight

Permanent Solution 07-25-2005 01:34 AM

Ray: That's the way to go though. And by that I mean so that you enjoy it. It doesn't matter what you're doing to enjoy it, just that you are. You could fight daily, but if you like that, more power to you.
The crazy thing is, that doesn't freak me out.

Well that's cool then, if you guys last that long you might not ever be with anyone else ;)

Moses 07-25-2005 01:35 AM

Ray just wondering did you grow up in the suburbs or the city? I'll repost the story I told yesterday.

Illmatic 07-25-2005 01:38 AM
Ray: That's the way to go though. And by that I mean so that you enjoy it. It doesn't matter what you're doing to enjoy it, just that you are. You could fight daily, but if you like that, more power to you.
No, I enjoy it, it's just that I think about our relationship and I think "Dang, that's kinda cheesy"--I don't lament it but I mean it in kind of an amused way.

Moses: In Chicago, I was in the city. Then I was just outside of Boston.

Moses 07-25-2005 01:38 AM

I went to the bus stop to go to work. There were two ghetto-dressed black guys a couple years older than me sitting there. So I sit down and the guys talking to me and he's like "you got a score on you?" and I'm like I don't smoke. He askes you got any weed on you? and I'm like no man. The other guy asks if I'm payin' for the bus and I say "yeah". He asks if I wanna buy a ticket and I'm like sure. So I get the ticket and that's how they figure out if I got money on me even though I only had like fifty cents left. He was like "have you ever been jumped before?" and I'm like "yeah" he's like "have you ever been robbed before?" and I'm like no and "he's like this is your first time how do you feel?". I stand up and I'm like "come on man you don't wanna do that". He throws his fist up to punch me in the stomach thinking I won't do **** back. I then punch him square in the face twice, really good. The other guy tries to put me in a full nelson and I elbowed him in the face. There was a little more scuffleing and I got hit on top of the head twice and then I was like "get the **** back bitch" And I hit one guy and push the other guy off of me. Then they looked at eachother and split. That's the second time I got jumped.

On top of that I had a headache and a stomach ache and was argueing with my girlfriend a few minutes before that online.

Illmatic 07-25-2005 01:39 AM

Dang. Where was this, exactly?

Moses 07-25-2005 01:41 AM

This is in Milwaukee. It was about a couple blocks away from where the ghetto starts. My house pretty marks the start of it.

Permanent Solution 07-25-2005 01:42 AM

Haha, and you're white? That's so awesome because it's so unstereotypical. Nice job beating them back though...I'd have probably been too freaked out to fight well :-\

Illmatic 07-25-2005 01:42 AM

On second thought, why am I wondering how a 16 year old fought off two muggers?

Moses 07-25-2005 01:46 AM

Punching correctly is effective. Learned that a long time ago when I took Tae Kwon Do.

Permanent Solution 07-25-2005 01:51 AM

/took TKD

/punches correctly :D

Not breaking your wrist when you hit the guy in the face is a good sign you knew what you were doing :thumb:

Moses 07-25-2005 01:53 AM

Yeah, I was just thinking like, "oh, **** here it is" and then I just wailed on him.

EDIT: post 2222

EDIT2: I'm going to get in bed and watch The Incredibles which I rented. So, yeah I'll talk to you guys and everyonelse tomorrow.

Riva 07-25-2005 04:27 AM

Hey all. I just got back from 11 hours of talking to Japanese people. This job is harder than I thought! It is so mentally draining, having to puzzle out what these people are saying, since most of them can speak only poor English (they are here to learn). Also, I have to ask them questions, to encourage them to speak English, which means I end up feeling braindead after wracking my brains for questions.

On the plus side, I made A$180, and spent most of it on a beach on an island in the Great Barrier Reef.

Lord Abortion 07-25-2005 06:38 AM

Infernal hails thread...

anyway, the interview that I said I had, I no longer do, they are "no longer hiring students part time"- balls

at least it frees up my wednesday...

talking of work, I'm off there in a few hours, enough time to record a final version of taste of my scythe for the covers comp...

Even if some were a bit over priced :(

Firecracker 07-25-2005 06:59 AM

I hate expensive cds.
Good show on the cheap ones.

I might be able to get Agent Orange - Sonic Snake Session on ebay for £3.00 including P&P

At least my Sound Of... came with two discs which averages out at £6.00 per disc, which isn't too bad. I just need to figure out what the second disc is :-/
The Juno Reactor CD was expensive but that doesn't really bother me because I was so surprised to find it.

The woman who served me was like "You have a really interesting taste in music". I just laughed.

I also didn't manage to find the final parts for my friend's brithday present. So this'll take some careful explaining along the lines of "I haven't finished your present yet so you'll have to wait".
good work ali- sound of perseverance is a great album
Yeah, I know. It only took me so long to get around to buying it becuase I never set out to buy certain CDs, I just buy from what's there.

Out of interest, are you applying to Edinburgh Uni?

I hate expensive CDs as well, but sometimes they just have to be bought.
That's pretty decent for £3.00. I think the last CD I got for £3.00 from the net was Izzy Stradlin and the Ju Ju Hounds which came from an Amazon sale.

Lord Abortion 07-25-2005 07:25 AM

yeah, I am applying to edinbergh uni... despite there being 24 applicants to each english lit place I am going to apply regardless...

And I have got that response from CD shop people before, once I bought Cannibal corpse- butchered at birth, the smiths- hatfull of hollow and Ian dury and the blockheads- warts n' audience at the same time, I got a funny look that day.

Well, if the number is 24 you can't fail.
If you end up there I'll point you in the direction of decent CD shops.

Was that from a big store like HMV? This was in a tiny little second hand store. The Woman seemed pretty cool.

So I'm planning to finish my Sum 41 FA for pop-punk today, and then next up is my mini-FA on Dredg :D

yeah it was HMV, there is a lack of second hand shops in my area, I only get to go to gateshead metro centre, carlisle and very occasionally, newcastle for shopping

Bartender 07-25-2005 07:39 AM

I don't have any tiny little friendly music stores that I know about (Newcastle or Leeds). There used to be one I liked going to in South Shields, but it closed down a few years ago. Continued online, but it wasn't the same, and even that closed down eventually, too.

The closest thing I know to a little second hand CD store is in Florida, so obviously I don't visit it often. I've gotten some good deals there though. It sells CDs and "smoking paraphernelia".

Surprisingly little, seeing as how you had something like £500 to go in with. Some good stuff there, though.

You guys don't have one around campus? THe one I usually go to is right on the actual campus of my university. Really great prices too, I usually spend 2-4 pounds per CD (Roughly I think). I even get a discount for being a frequent shopper :)

Well, he didn't spend it all either :p Buying 6 CDs for 500 pounds would be insane.
