He could perform maybe, but I seriously doubt Zeppelin (or whats left) would play. I wanna see that though, they deserve it.

MalcolmYoungRock 02-07-2005 08:29 PM

I'm not sure if you guys talked about this, but who saw the super bowl halftime show?

Edit: Found it, nevermind.

jpj 02-07-2005 08:29 PM

I saw it and thought it was awesome.

MalcolmYoungRock 02-07-2005 08:31 PM

Some girl in my health class was like "That was one of the worst superbowl halftime shows ever". That angered me.

jpj 02-07-2005 08:32 PM

Yea, a bunch of people in my home room were saying **** like that, it pissed the hell out of me.

thickasabrick 02-07-2005 08:36 PM

I never saw it, I wish I did though. What songs did McCartney all play?

jpj 02-07-2005 08:37 PM

Get Back, Ride My Car, Live and Let Die, and Hey Jude. In that order.

EDIT: Or did he play Get Back second?

MalcolmYoungRock 02-07-2005 08:48 PM

Get back was second i think

thickasabrick 02-07-2005 08:50 PM

I'm pleased with those songs. I was praying he wouldn't do something completely horrible.

lunch998 02-07-2005 08:53 PM

How could Paul be bad when compared to the likes of other Super Bowl half time acts? Namely Britney Spears+NYSNC+Aerosmith.

MalcolmYoungRock 02-07-2005 08:54 PM

They shot off a lot of fireworks also.

I like teh fire.

Badmoon 02-07-2005 08:55 PM
Randolph is not better than clapton, to argue such is foolishness. Complete, utter foolishness.
Nothing could could be more foolish than stating your opinion as fact.

A few of us like R.R. much more, get use to it.
How could Paul be bad when compared to the likes of other Super Bowl half time acts? Namely Britney Spears+NYSNC+Aerosmith.
I never thought he would be bad compared to anyone. Maybe not as good as some performers, but definitely not bad.

lunch998 02-07-2005 08:57 PM
I never thought he would be bad compared to anyone. Maybe not as good as some performers, but definitely not bad.
Well yea me neither. I'm just questioning how anyone else could think his half time show was any worse.

lunch998 02-07-2005 09:03 PM

Badmoon 02-07-2005 09:12 PM
Robert Randolph, he's a black pedal steel (is that the right term?) guitarist and is damn good.
a little late but i believe the term is "african-american"... unless you were talking about the pedal steel part...

i saw him when he opened for clapton too and its a tough call between them.
It's "black", you PC whino.
haha. i believe the correct term is "bum" or "hobo"

Illmatic 02-07-2005 10:11 PM

Watch it pal. I'm [half-]black.

PinkFreud 02-07-2005 10:13 PM
Watch it pal. I'm [half-]black.
well im asian. fellow minorites. united against whitey. who else is in?

oh and my bum/hobo comment was about your usage of "wino"

Illmatic 02-07-2005 10:15 PM

It's us [meaning blacks, not blacks and Asians] and the Hispanics. Those are the only minorities that whites as a whole tend to fear and/or loathe.

PinkFreud 02-07-2005 10:17 PM
It's us [meaning blacks, not blacks and Asians] and the Hispanics. Those are the only minorities that whites as a whole tend to fear and/or loathe.
yeah well there are stereotypes for everyone. asian=small penises, smart (which isnt always good), small stature. what say we drop the race issue.

Illmatic 02-07-2005 10:21 PM

Yeah, whites don't have much to fear about Asians

Hell yeah, he was great. Someone said in the pit that it would have been cool if Ringo was on drums and Dhani (George's son) was on guitar.

A-Baum 02-07-2005 11:17 PM

Well I agree that paul was great. But I do think the show still sucked. I wanted to hear revolution #9 and I wanted to hear the whole **** thing! Anyways lets stop getting racial and talk about good classic rock bands. I personaly like Canned heat alot please comment

Six Foot Revolver 02-07-2005 11:19 PM

I'm British so didn't see it but I have heard it was good

Do you know why? Have you heard what's out there these days. There's not alot of music out there that's going to stand the test of time. Hip/hop - rap ? I think they left the "C" out of it - "CRAP". I'm all for to each his own, so if you like that stuff more power to ya. The "MODERN ROCK" bands of today seem to write the worst, unmelodic, boring drop D tunning crap. With no blues influence. When you take the "BLUES" out of rock your left non-feeling stuff that couldn't move a mouse fart. "Feel", "Heart", "Soul". FEEL - it needs to make you feel something, i. e. happy, sad, etc. (and not anger for the sake of being angry, anger over an issue), HEART - it needs to come from your heart (don't write for the about something for the sake of writng about, be genuine about whatever it is) and SOUL - if the song has soul it has life. I am sure there are people that will disagree with me, all I can say is; look at their music collection. Ther is good music out there today you just have to find it. You can check out some of my stuff at:

www.sonicbis.com/dmusic

Come on all you critics, I'll take you on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

May music be the light of you soul.

StreetlightRock 02-08-2005 05:22 AM

*sigh*, your comments are about as generic as the bands you talk about. You're right tho, i suppose, like eveyone else here. Secondly, no advertising.

DVG.

edit: sorry, i think im being a little harsh, good try :thumb:

Hey man, are you always this angry. Don't let some ****-stick who knows nothing about music or who has a different opinion bother you. The Beatles are, in my opiion the world greatest and most innovative rock bands of all time. They have influenced a multitude of todays musicians, probably most of the people that asswipe with the uninformed opinion listens to. But, if you still feel you need to punch him, make sure you knock the ever-livin **** out of him.

DMUSIC 02-08-2005 05:38 AM
ok ok, i admit it, i'm a classic rock nut. i love led zeppelin, the beatles, the who, eric clapton, the doors, and so on. most of the bands i listen to broke up years before i was born. at 17, nearly every song on my playlist is older than me. but is it just my imagination, or is classic rock experiencing sort of a revival. i am running into an increasing number of classic rock fans my age. at my school (an all boys high school), the school newspaper took a poll of everyone's favorite genre and band. led zeppeling got 5th and the beatles got 6th, behind that rap crap. classic rock made up a large percent of ppls favorite genre. is this just by me, or are other ppl noticing this too?

This is the thread for general classic rock discussion.
I replied to this but somehow lost the first part.

SEE - Do you know why?

Rashka 02-08-2005 05:45 AM
