Sounds pretty good.

When I saw Opeth with Axenrot I thought he played admirably. I saw them with Lopez once, and he actually screwed up a couple times, unlike Axe. The two times I've seen Axe live he hasn't impressed me, but he's been far from disappointing.

Does Barker drum on Dimmu's Death Cult? The drumming on that is really good. Definitely not fitting to Opeth however.

Barker's another one with a really flat feel...I never cared for his playing all that much, TBH.

Nick Barker is fast as hell but he's a pretty chiseled metal drummer. He doesn't have the style in his playing that Opeth needs.

What Solefald album did you hear?

Opeth is just truely amazing, the first album I bought by them was "Damnation" because friends told me that it was the most mainstreamish sounding and would get me hooked and guess what it did. From then I bought "Orchid" and "Blackwater Park", which are even better than the first album I bought. These guys continue to impress me.

Get Still Life.

I think they should just get Steve Gadd or Dave Weckl. Heck VC would be perfect. :p

Okay, for somthing more realistic they could get Jon Theodore from TMV or Abe Cunningham from Deftones.

Alot of people can "nail" Deliverance and Windowpane. Neither of those is really a challenge for a good drummer that can play hip-hop, jazz, rock and metal, which Abe can do. Plus he has even more groove than Lopez.

The only thing I don't think alot of people can touch Lopez in is the dynamics and that's what made him special. Plus playing in an unorthodox style for the genre.

I thought Deliverance was a fairly dynamic song. But whatever, I don't know much about drumming, and from the Deftones I've heard, I don't recall any standout drumming. Please don't snap at me. :p

Lol, it's the more subtle things that Abe does in Deftones that makes him great. Plus if you've seen him solo, you'd know that he's damn good.

They could probably replace Lopez with my drummer...

Highly doubtful, since PT is pretty busy themselves right now. Touring, then new album sessions, then more touring.

I have very high hopes for the project. Hopes that will probably never be met.

Oh alright, well we'll see then. I wonder what DT is up to as well.

Then again, what the hell do I know, there might be a break in there sometime. Just wishful thinking on my part.

The last I heard it was still supposed to happen in the fairly near future. I think someone asked about it in the MA Gigantour chat, and he said it was still on.

Honestly I'd much rather just have a new Porcupine Tree album. I know the project will be good, but it will never escape the so-called supergroup that it is.

Woooooooooh, my Opeth albums came today. I finally [U]legally[/U] own Damnation and a second copy of Blackwater Park.

Why the second copy of BWP?

I had the original BWP but I wanted the limited edition with the amazing slipcase and bonus disc. Now I'm wondering what to do with the first version.
