Sometimes I just imagine Kerry King being a cool guy. But then I turn around and read some other stuff that he's done and wonder "What happened?"

Moses 08-28-2005 01:49 PM

I really like Slipknot's MFKR album and the new one in a few places, other than that I don't listen to the other stuff anymore.

The live show they put on will probably be the best show you'll see. To give you an idea of how good they are live these are some bands in the same league live-wise:

Dream Theater
Megadeth
Iron Maiden
Nevermore
Symphony X
Mastodon
Rob Zombie
Judas Priest

I'll put Slipknot up against any of those bands.
Um, what the hell is godcore.
I love this guy....

Not in a homosexual way, but you're funny.

I, too, have a paper to finish.
This may just be me being an *** but it bothers me when like twice a day someone comes up to you and goes "Rap or Rock?" as though they are the only two genres any teenage kid would listen to. Argh..
In all fairness, that's not really a question that should bug you. Popular music (Pop) is comprised of Rap and Hip Hop, and the other half of the coin is Rock (A very wide ranging genre). Now, I'm sure there are a few that listen to Jazz and Classical, but how often have you asked someone what they listen to, and they throw out Miles Davis?

That, and the common person couldn't tell you the difference between Doom Metal and Stoner Metal, so more defined genre names would just get you weird looks.

repcak 08-28-2005 02:01 PM

but then the question should be "pop or rock" and not rap
I had a odd thing happen to me the other day; a group of godcore/hXc kids claimed that I had bad musical taste because I listened to Radiohead. I was confused at first, but the irony hit me and I just laughed. Later one of my friends was talking to the same guys, and when he brought up the subject of Tool, they said something like "I hate Tool, they suck and are satanic". That was just even funnier to me.

To add meaning to this post, anyone else have any experiences with people who were just so musically ignorant they make you laugh?
i hate those kids. just about everyone in that scene has no idea What "hardcore" or "emo" actually is. annoy the hell out of me. godcore, hahahaha.
I'm halfway through the first one now, I prefer the second one at the moment, but that's because it was easier to listen to and this one seems slightly repetitive, but my opinion will probably change when i listen to them more. I am enjoying their sound though.
Hehe, I was hoping you'd say the new one was alot better than the old one, because that would make it easier for lazy me to get the album

Like I said, it's probably just me being an ***, but it still bothers me. Shouldn't the question just be "What kind of music do you like?
Sometimes I just imagine Kerry King being a cool guy. But then I turn around and read some other stuff that he's done and wonder "What happened?"
He always looks like he's going to kill you. He sounds like an ass a lot of the time in interviews too. But whenever I see a video of him, he seems so cool! Real laid back, and........normal?

I wish he would grow the hair back and loose the beard. He looked so much better during their SITA days.

Please don't rain! I want to go to the aquatic club(a very cool hangout in my neighborhood. Its basically a community center/pool. It has an olympic swimming pool with those diving platforms. Then it has a waterpark-ish type thing. It has a slide, that is amazingly fun. Plus a cabana with a bunch of junk food). Well, here:

http://gardendistrict.fishhawkranch.com/AquaticClub.aspx

I'm soooooo bored.

EDIT: a lot of the things(ex. Park Square) aren't built yet.

I would be more bothered by the fact that he made it sound like you could only listen to one of them..

why asking? most of the time you see how one is dressed and you know what kind of music he listen to. during my holidays in poland at the sea i met a girl and i immediatly knew what kind of music she listens to. after a time i asked her "what kind of music do you like?" and it turned round that i was right.

Yeah, its too easy these days. I can do that with a few things though.

My school year has already started, and there was this one girl(which I have not met) who was really annoying for some reason. I had the feeling she was a vegan.

..................I was right.

denboy 08-28-2005 02:28 PM

I just got my hands on a legit copy of death from above 1979's album.. After listening to the mp3's I had for ages.. Whenever I put this album on I have to fight the urge to start jumping around

Moses 08-28-2005 02:30 PM

I dress like a wigger during the school year because it's comfortable when it's less hot.

And back on the Slipknot discussion here's a couple songs from MFKR album:

Mate Feed Kill Repeat

Huber 08-28-2005 02:31 PM

I own the album. It's a winner.

That song is one of the best on it too.
ahhhhh... i see, i always thought he said something about a wrench :-/
The question would be what the wrench is for...:amaze:

Any new worth while developments, or are we just do a hate-based circle jerk about pop punk?

Mr Herb 08-28-2005 03:28 PM

You cant tell what I listen by just loking at me, I look close to your regular jock

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-28-2005 03:33 PM

^Yeah, same here. When I tell people what I listen to, they usually stare at me for 5 seconds, probably thinking something like "I have never heard of a single band he just said," then they say "oh well, I would think you'd just listen to punk and stuff because you're a skater."

:upset:

Stereotype minus minus.

denboy 08-28-2005 03:36 PM

you can't tell what I listen to by looking at me because I listen to everything... (Well.. Maybe you can tell SOME of what I listen to.. Hehe)

Huber 08-28-2005 03:37 PM

Meh, when people do ask "What do you listen to?" I just say a large variety of things. Then they probably ask my favorite band, and I say some of my favorites are Slipknot, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Meshuggah, Tool or something like that. If they keep talking after that I'll bring up some lesser known bands but I'd like to keep a conversation on music going if I can because I don't get the priveledge often IRL.

Mr Herb 08-28-2005 03:38 PM

They go like. . . who tha **** is tool?!

But its cool cause they all know coldplay, me lvoe coldplay :)

repcak 08-28-2005 03:43 PM

yeah stereotype... its the same with me.
when i was 15 - 16 i listend to bands like the strokes, the hives, etc. and dressed like them.
with 17 i discovered metal, but the clothes stayed... one year ago they still thought i listen to the strokes and were shocked when i told them the truth...
now (soon 20) i start to dress different than 3years ago.

Huber 08-28-2005 03:45 PM

I just wear jeans and get whatever shirts I think look cool. Band shirts, some plain, and my favorite is this badass Pearl Drums shirt with an awesome skull with sticks sticking out of it's eye sockets.

I usually mention the bands that I listen to from the genre I know the person I'm talking to likes.. Hehe

My clothes is as random as my musical tastes.. Normally I wear jeans and a tee, but I've been known to go around in bermuda shorts, and hawaii shirts, suits, pink tops, etc

repcak 08-28-2005 03:47 PM

i just start to dress black... but beautiful black with style.
don't like band t-shirts, only if they are really nice (like nin-tshirts)

my favourites colors: black, military/deep-green and deep-red.

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-28-2005 03:51 PM

I just wear T shirts and usually shorts. For December and January, I bust out with some pants, but I like the free-form feeling of shorts more. I also own a kilt that I wore to a school dance once, but I wouldn't call that my typical wardrobe.

Dude3 08-28-2005 03:53 PM

I wear mostly skate/surf clothes. Kinda baggy. And some band shirts too. When people ask what I listen to, I just say "Everything from Death Metal to Ska". Its the truth.

Futuro 08-28-2005 03:53 PM
