damn that sounds awesome! that song and the whole The Antichrist album has moments like that. need to see them live someday. this little discussion has got me in the mood for some more thrash.
whenever listening to a metal band i always start from the beginning as a rule

i just dont trust new albums from old bands
well yeah! this rule has about a 90% success rate.

you seriously need to hear some early destruction. basically everything before "nu destruction" is good - that is everything up to cracked brain. particularly eternal devastation, sentence of death

if you see destruction live make out like you saw them live last time they were in your town. they'll call out for you to get free beer

TimJim 09-23-2009 04:31 PM

Nuke the cross

Nepenthe 09-23-2009 04:32 PM

the antichrist was a really good album imo

Stevie 09-23-2009 04:41 PM

i haven't heard that one yet

Nepenthe 09-23-2009 04:47 PM

it really is pretty much on par with their old stuff

Stevie 09-23-2009 04:52 PM

** adds to wishlist **

Nostalgia 09-23-2009 04:55 PM

lol early toxic holocaust is pretty good. dunno what people find wrong with it.

im definitely familiar with their early stuff - about 3 or 4 years ago i listened almost exclusively to underground metal, and had the majority of their early material then. i started listening to metal again about a year, maybe a year and a half ago, and destruction was one of the bands whom i for some reason neglected to once more acquire.

and yeah early toxic holocaust is pretty cool

south_of_heaven 11 09-23-2009 05:20 PM

i dig both early and new toxic holocaust

first time i heard them though i thought they were terrible? hrm oh well, that changed fast.

Nostalgia 09-23-2009 05:31 PM

yeah its nothing new or original and its a complete rip off of classic bands, but it's still good music. fun live band too.

TimJim 09-23-2009 05:46 PM

for sure.

did anyone notice that thrash as a style is coming back?

Nepenthe 09-23-2009 06:01 PM

i didnt realize it left

illmitch 09-23-2009 06:03 PM

thrash revival has been around since like '04, probably earlier

TimJim 09-23-2009 06:03 PM

its just coming around here in Detroit

FatalEnergy 09-23-2009 10:58 PM

Too bad it sucks

Bazarov 09-23-2009 11:27 PM

I remember seeing bands like Warbringer and the whole retro thrash la area teenage bands at local shows, and now they're doing bigger gigs with old thrash bands and what not... It makes me go wtf!?

FatalEnergy 09-23-2009 11:29 PM

Yeah, Warbringer is gay.

Stevie 09-24-2009 01:47 AM
Too bad it sucks
this

Blanka Flip 09-24-2009 01:28 PM

I hate it how people don't understand that Killswitch Engage, As I Lay Dying, (And all those other bands that sound exactly the same, you know) is just not traditional metal, let alone thrash. I've been in so many conversations with these guys that are like, "What, you don't conisder UnEarth to be real metal? They thrash out man!"

I'm just like.......... . . .. ..

I need to hear Behind the Crooked Cross, heh.

TimJim 09-24-2009 01:29 PM

you mean metalcore bands?

Deth 09-24-2009 02:33 PM
Yeah, Warbringer is gay.
nah, listen to their latest album. It's legitimate thrash.

Blanka Flip 09-24-2009 04:58 PM
you mean metalcore bands?
Yeah, I guess that's the genre that's been created for them. I hate that shlt.

Bazarov 09-24-2009 05:46 PM
nah, listen to their latest album. It's legitimate thrash.
legitimate RETRO thrash. Which means it legitimately sucks.

Deth 09-24-2009 05:51 PM

do you know who I am?

idc if it's 'retro' thrash or not, it's good thrash regardless of when it was recorded. The majority of the new bands suck yeah, but I'm not going to write off the good ones just because they have the misfortune exist now.

Bazarov 09-24-2009 05:53 PM

Nah, Warbringer sucks.

Deth 09-24-2009 05:54 PM

oh you're the same guy who said venom sucks

not worth arguing with
