the DoubleDisc was the only thing they had yesterday at Borders, so I had to splurge a bit(19.99!!!). Actaully, my mom got it for me. She was in a good mood or something.

And as for The Drapery Falls being your favorite song on the album, I'm digging it as well, but I don't like how it transitions from Harvest into TDF. I really dislike the acoustic tone on TDF, whereas Harvest is fairly pristine. The strings on The Drapery Falls sound too similair to the strings on my acoustic. Kind of too thick, cheap and nylon. (Nylon>steel btw)
I don't care how you critcize TDF, it's still my favorite song (not just on the album, ever).

I also agree, nylon > steel.
I like a lot of other genres, but I'm too distracted by my metal obsession and don't go into as many genres as I should, such as blues and classical. I really like those too, but haven't looked to far into them.
I'm the same way man

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-29-2005 11:22 PM

I've found my self becoming more acute in my musical tastes as of late. :-/ I don't listen to blues, jazz, classical, or much metal. Mostly, I just listen to prog.

Meh, hopefully my New Orleans trip shall inspire me to expand my music tastes. Hopefully I will also get some more guitar playing inpsiration from it.

11teen-It's the only flaw I've found, and it's not even really part of the actual song. :p

ATM 06-29-2005 11:31 PM

I listen to pretty much anything. You guys probably know this by now :p

Illmatic 06-29-2005 11:33 PM

I'm a very open-minded person, musically.

RiceMonster 06-29-2005 11:36 PM

I'm open-minded, but like I said before, I'm too much of a metalhead.

ATM 06-29-2005 11:37 PM

Fix'd

Dried Muffin Remnants 06-29-2005 11:37 PM

I'd say that the only genre I don't listen to consistently is classical. While I like some of it, it's a really tough mood transition.

It's in the background on purpose, it's meant to create atmosphere, much like the keyboards in Underoath.

I'm open minded genre wise but I find it hard to find good music. The top 0.5% of blues, jazz, hip hop, hardcore or whatever are usually really good but the rest is a steaming pile of crap. Too many musos in the game to earn respect or admiration and the fame and fortune and if that's the motivation the music always lacks the fire which is the main ingredient of good tunes.

Music for money isn't always a bad thing, listen to Grey Daze, Chester Bennington wrote those songs to stay alive, he was fecking homeless living in his car.

Drugstep 06-30-2005 12:04 AM

Dr. Jake, New Orleans is nothing special. I live fairly close.

It might be that you don't find it special because it's specialness wore off on you.
I'm getting into metal quite a bit, lately. I just like trying new genres, and right now I am dabbling with some extreme metal.
*cough*

It's another late night for me. Pardon my random postage.
Fix'd
Allow me to complete the cliche.

NP: Some Dissection song. I suggest you get into some Dissection as well, ATM.

Drugstep 06-30-2005 12:39 AM

Right now I'm stocking up on metal from the YSI thread. Cannibal Corpse, CoB, Slayer, etc.

My new avatar is intense.

yeah, dissection is good, but how about something more extreme like some grindcore:

Napalm Death, Pig Destroyer and Anal Cunt are good.

Random post?
isnt school over yet?
no it isn't, not in England for my year :upset:

EDIT:: why are there no straight metal bassists in the poll!?

NJMetalMeister 06-30-2005 03:49 AM

yeah university isnt over in germany either, we go until july 15, which blows.

In another note, somehow my plane ticket home in july got messed up and i had to buy another one, so instead of it costing me only like 800 to get home, its costing me like 1800. Bleh. I wish i remember the reasoning for it, but i was drunk when my mom was explaining the situation to me, so i wasnt all there.
